I shop too much as it is... and will be away since it's Labor Day weekend.... good question...I need to celebrate!

my surgery was 8/30... started at 272... I hit normal BMI (160pounds) at 10 months, 1 week.... Im aiming for my 2nd goal of 140 pounds now. I had a platic srgery consult recently... was told between my thoughs & belly, I have 5-10 pounds of excess skin. so getting rid of that should help some towards my final goal...
-
not only do I burp...my stomach still grumbles a LOT...sounds like a thunderstorm in my belly.... and then there are the farts... my tween-ages boys think its hilarious....me, not so much

How many vets are actually AT goal and staying there?
vogue replied to clk's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
so I am a week over 10 months out ( surgery Aug 30, 2012)... I hit normal BMI last week... still not at "my" goal...I want to lose another ~25 pounds.... whether I can do that or even maintain my current 100% EWL remains to be seen.... -
I did not do it the traditional low carb, high protein, low fat way...but I did it none the less.... very proud of myself... like most ladies, the belly is the last to go... so Im aiming to lose an additional 20 pounds.. I will be getting gall bladder surgery ( have no stones and minimal sludge but excessive swelling & fluid) in the near future..

10 months, 1 week post-op= 24.8 BMI= NORMAL but not (my) goal (happy dance!)
vogue replied to vogue's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
my needs were not beig met at 600-800 calories.... I eat 1500+ net calories per day 100g protein 60+ grams of carbs I dont measure fat but I definitely dont do low fat products I do try to limit processed sugar ( dont limit fruits, use stevia) -
I dont follow the rules many VSGers do... I drink water like crazy, I eat high proteins but I also eat high calories, high carbs, and high fats...I try to limit sugar, salt... I have been triathlon training for months.... have done a few 5K, 10K and duathlons in the midst ( thus the need for high carbs).. I HAD been losing steadily, definitely satisfactorily on my part ( at almost 10 months out, I am 5 pounds away from "normal" BMI) ... maybe if I stuck to 600-800 cals with little or no exercise, I would have lost more in pounds but honestly I look and feel great and am in better physical shape than I have been in over 20 years I have been in a weight loss stall for nearly a month... would lose & regain the same 2 pounds for nearly a month.... Last weekend, for 3 days, I partied like a rock star... drank heavily....ate pure CRAP... did not do any weight training, though I still got in a fair amount of cardio.... today I am down 6 pounds.... This thing just doesnt make sense to me some days....

I prefer True Lemon products ( no Aspartame)...made with Stevia http://www.truelemon.com/

8.5 months post-op down 101 pounds as of this morning.... Im 6 pounds away from "normal" BMI... I wear a size 10 trial for triathlon in 4 days... Issues: I had a stricture and trouble moving from liquids to mushies ( basically stayed on liquids for nearly 12 weeks and then straight to regular food) I got dehydrated twice some issues related to Vitamin & mineral absorption I had before VSG were worsened I still cannot eat most chicken or turkey ( can do breast or chicken salad but no baked or fried, roasted, etc for some reason) I get dumping everytime I have cake/cookies I get sharts when I drink more than an ounce of juice... DESPITE IT ALL I HAVE NOT A REGRET!!

I guess I cant complain...Aetna has not denied me for anything... paid for things Ididnt even expect... it may be due to what you group coverage allows more than the company as a whole...

mine are bad... dark & ugly..but I am of african american heritage...we tend to scar & keloid easily... my stretch marks are very much so lighter... regardless, Id rather be thin & healthy with scars from the WLS incision that fat and/or dead without

PLEASE HELP not getting any protien in... All i want is something icy
vogue replied to Srios's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Isopure makes a fruity type of Protein drink...some flavors are better than others... I poured them into ice pop molds when I was first post-op... I still drink them with chrushed ice to make a slushie type of thing... I find they dont have as much aftertaste when I mix in a lil Crystal lite Lemon type po flavor in it... can buy purchased at Vitamin shoppe or GNC or online -
I buy jeans mostly at Goodwill because for the past 3 or 4 months, Ive been going thru sizes pretty quickly... Im also the clearance rack queen... I have really been struggling with body image issues.... I am fitting loosely in size 12, tightly in size 10.... I know , in my head at least, that I am not HUGE anymore...I can pick up an outfit and see if its too big or too small.... and as long as I have clothes on, I think I look OK... but as soon as I am naked or in my skivvies, I still see the 280 pound me in the mirror as some of you know, Im training for triathlon.... until yesterday I had still been wearing my size 20 bathing suits...Lycra is forgiving so the body portion fit OK, at least I thought, but for the past week or so Ive spent more time trying to hold up the straps than doing strokes during my laps in the pool... I found a size 12 bathing suit for $10 in Marshalls... not the most attractive thing but its ONE PIECE and it FITS... SOLD! so last night at training session, I walked pass a door that is tinted so you can see from outside.. it has sorta a mirror reflection type of tine...and since it was dark outside, it provided a sort of silhouette... and in the shadow, I dont look too bad in my new bathing suit....the dimples in my thighs arent as visible and my stomach was covered... now of course, as soon as I went to take a shower & saw my nakedness again, I was grossed out.... Im 25 pounds away from a tummy tuck ( or panni at least) , God willing.... hopefully the time, additional weightloss and getting rid of my apron will help with my body image issues

I eat salad everyday, I need the ruffage to help prevent constipation... I also just love veggies and prefer them raw...but I am over 7 months out my Dr advised no raw food ( including salads) until 3 months...but I still couldnt eat it then without issues....and make sure you eat your meat ( or other source of protein) before the salad

thanks for the warning... Ive been trying to have a drink for the past few weeks but something always thwarted my plan... tonight I am determined to have a glass of wine.... already purchased some good cheese to go with it....Pre-op it diidnt take much to give me a buzz, I will definitely keep this in mind tonight -
I used the http://www.vitacost.com/amazing-grass-organic-wheat-grass-powder in the past... need to get back to it though the memory of the taste is givingm e some reservation... I keep coconut Water in the home, maybe I will try mixing it with that...and a few lemon slices....
