1st Beach Vacation Post-Sleeve (it rocked!)
Moppy replied to Jen35's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved at the end of April and went to the beach at the first of August. I felt completely different than I did last year at the beach. I had lost 50 of the 70 lbs I need to lose. I was more comfortable walking on the beach, had more energy, and the heat did not seem to bother me as much. I bought new shorts and tops about a month before we went and by the time we got to the beach the clothes were too big. I've just discovered that I am more excited about sizes than I am pounds. I've lost 55 lbs, but I just bought a pair of 7/8 jeans! -
I had surgery April 30, 2013 and just last week began to notice more than normal hair loss. My surgeon has supplements and I'm going to order a vitamin pack called Hair, Skin, and Nails. I wish I had known about it and started taking it right after surgery.

Calling all sleevers with desk jobs....

I took off two weeks. My company has a generous sick leave policy, and I could have taken more time. I had no complications, but I am glad I took 2 weeks. -

Any husband and wife sleevers?

My husband had his surgery in March 2011. I had mine in April 2013. He has lost 140 lbs. So far I've lost 43.5. I've got 26 more to go. It is good to have a support person who has been through it. We totally understand what is going on with each other. We are empty nesters, so we don't have to worry about feeding others in our house. Even our dog has lost weight! Husband and I were talking just today about how we could not have done it any other way and how it has been worth it (money-wise, weight-wise, emotion-wise)! Insurance did not cover the costs of either of our surgeries. -

It was on my checklist of things to do before surgery provvided by doctor. I ordered mine from www.laurens hope.com. They have a great selection of fashion bracelets. Since you pay per word for engraving, I had "gastric sleeve no blind NG" put on mine.

I'm scheduled for April 30. I start my two-week pre-op diet tomorrow. I am so ready to make this change in my life.

Losing/gaining; losing/gaining again; gaining/gaining. My husband had VSG 22 months ago. He has lost 140 lbs. He now weighs less than me. My BMI is 36 and I only recently discovered that I could have VSG with BMI of 36. I am in the process of scheduling surgery and hope to have it by the end of March. My husband was self-pay and he said it is the best money he has ever spent.
