I'll be a year post-op Feb 26th. Last night by husband and I went to a new restaurant and the dish I ordered was spicy (i didn't know). I only ate 3 bites before I couldn't take anymore and OMG did my stomach KILL. For hours last night my stomach was on fire! To the point I questioned going the the hospital (I just felt too dumb lol)... Anyone else have such negative effects of spice. I've never been a spice eater anyways, but this was horrific!

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
UnzippingTheFatSuit replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The holidays and my sleeve have NOT gotten along. No who am I kidding, it's MY doing! SW: 257 Preholidays: 152 CW: 156 Goal: 143 So ya the 4 pounds bother me, but it's more the fact that I'm watching myself slip back into horrible habits! And I need to change before the slope gets slippier. .. CONFESSION: I've gone to Tim Hortons everyday for the last 2 weeks and eaten a chocolate chip cookie! I've gone back to drinking sweet tea. I don't eat enough protein. I have exercised in any form since...... Thanksgiving...... Ughhh I KNOW what I'm doing wrong but can't seem to switch it off. I've GOT to get back on track here. I hate the new site and wasn't going to come anymore but I could really use some encouragement and reminders! (It's hard at home with a husband who thinks you should "stop losing now") -

Which Doctor!?
UnzippingTheFatSuit replied to Irish's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I too used Dr. Garcia... Feb 26, 2013... I'm currently 105 pounds down! He and the other doctors were amazing. Nursing staff was excellent. Far better care then ive ever gotten in a US hospital! I would not hesitate to recommend him, and infact I do, to anyone who will listen! He was awesome, I couldn't be happier! -

Hair loss/ not enough protein
UnzippingTheFatSuit replied to indy1439's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 11 months out... I'm now post-surgery lactose intolerant and also Protein deficient... My hair was falling out in CLUMPS! I woke up one morning with my pillow COVERED in hair... I just cried. I cut off pretty much all my hair about 6 months ago now. I'm working with a dietician and for me it all goes back to protein. Being lactose intolerant after surgery has really made getting the Proteins in difficult. I'm over the shakes. And there's only so much meat you can eat. I've been working hard on the lactose-free products and found some success. I have also switched up some of the Vitamins and take Biotin (along with 11 other vitamins) daily. My hair hasn't grown back at all, but at least its not still falling out (its just not growing)! My hair is as short today as it was 6 months ago when I cut. I hate it. Its depressing. I feel like a boy. But you know what - I'd rather feel this way, then weight the extra 105 pounds I just lost. I'm hanging in there - its GOT to get better. In the meantime, I'm open to any and all suggestions too! -
Will i ever be able to eat dairy products if i cant handle it now
UnzippingTheFatSuit replied to melodydelayne's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm almost 11 months post-op and cannot eat dairy at all!! Prior to surgery, I LIVED on dairy. My dietician says its common to become lactose intolerant after bariatric surgery (I didn't know this). It drives me CRAZY because as if my diet wasn't restricted due to the surgery; now its even WORSE. I also now have a Protein deficiency because all those wonderful dairy sources of protein I can't partake in. I've been working on finding things that work and found the Lactaid products to work well for me. I also like the So Delicious brand ice cream; its lactose free, but somewhat hard to find near me. Try really finding those Proteins anywhere before you run into a problem. -
OMG I haven't been on here for MONTHS but logged in tonight to ask this SAME QUESTION!!! My armpit too is SO concave.. I don't know what to do... its not an issue of loose skin, its that it's totally concave and the razor just doesn't fit in the tiny armpit, lol... thank you for sharing because I feel so much better now that I'm not weird! Honestly I just really haven't been shaving, but I thought about try finding the razors they sell in the summer time for the bikini area that are small... I don't know what else to do... really don't like the Nair stuff...

OMG I am so happy to read everyone's journey .... its one thing for my doctor to assure me I'm doing good, but its WAY better when you all do!! I'm Feb 26th and I'm down 48 pounds since surgery. My calories really vary. Some days I can get in 1000 calories (by really pushing it), yet days like today I'm only at 250. Protein shakes make me sick and water makes me feel like I'm drowning. I work out 4 days a week. LOVING feeling GREAT!! Can't weight to lose more!! -
Anybody regretted it, even with no complications?
UnzippingTheFatSuit replied to musiclover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 6 weeks post and while I don't REGRET, I wish there were things I would've known more and taken into consideration... like my love for food. I think too, because the scale isn't giving me "proof" of my success, I feel like I'm not winning the battle. Yes, I've lost weight and even at a good pace -- but I guess I was hoping for instant gratification. And since I'm not receiving it, I have to remind myself to be patient. I honestly think this comes from the fact I've tried and failed so many other diets, I can't help but think this won't "work" too. But I'm going to keep plugging away and hanging in there -- lol, what choice do I have anyways, my stomach's pretty much gone -
Emotions ? !
UnzippingTheFatSuit replied to tiffanyreddick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 6 weeks -- thank goodness my husband is super patient because I'll admit - I'm a lunatic! I'm up and down all day, you never know what I'm going to be. I can feel myself being crazy and I can't stop. I'm desperately trying to get a handle on it and have found that days when my protein and water intake has been low, have been worse. I'm open to suggestions for sure!!! Good luck too!! -

UnzippingTheFatSuit replied to NotTelling2013's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Omg this is now the second time I've heard of nakedness! I had mine done this last Tuesday, also by Dr. Garcia and one of my sleeve buddies was telling me she saw someone naked! I thought maybe this was a rare occurrence, but maybe not. Well, whoever saw my fat, naked ass --- SORRY! -
Surgery Tues -- feel like I'm gonna DROWN today!

Ughhh, I'm so tired of drinking! And this clear, liquid diet makes me feel like I'm gonna drown!! Anyone have any suggestions?
