  1. I don't think spiciness will irritate your tummy, but you never know until you try. I see people all the time posting that they're eating pureed chili and pureed buffalo chicken.

    Strained soup

If you're talking about strained cream soup, I mix the can of soup with a can of milk, heat it in the microwave, and then pour it through a plastic colander that has small holes (what we use for straining spaghetti). I pour it through the colander a couple times, and it catches the small chunks of chicken or veggie that are in the cream soups.
  3. I'm still on full liquids and gagging at the smell of more cream of chicken Soup. Today we went to Kroger and got some fancy cream bisque Soups from Campbells like Golden Butternut Squash and Thai Tomato Coconut. My husband also ran into the Chinese restaurant and got me a container of egg drop soup. I only eat a little bit at a time, but it tastes great. It's mostly broth and really thin egg, so I hope it's ok. Walking around the grocery store sucked. I thought I had energy and wanted to get out of the house. Ugh.
  4. Feeling alright! Today is the first day I'm starting to feel better and more back to normal. Home alone today, about to take a shower and change the dressing where my drain was. I was down 3 more lbs this morning! How are you doing??
  5. I'm waking up with killer excruciating headaches every morning. I think it's because I'm snoring from laying on my back/side. When was it comfortable for you guys to sleep on your tummy again? I miss it.
  6. Watching the documentary "Hungry For Change" on Netflix right now - Wow! I had never heard of this before. No wonder it is so so so hard to stop eating junk. I want to eat real food, not "food-like products".
  7. When I talked to my supervisor about needing time off to recover from a surgical procedure, she didn't seem curious or surprised at all. Now I know why. During my performance review today, she told me that HR had called her months ago and asked her to tell me that the weight loss surgery I was interested in and had emailed them about was not covered, and that they couldn't add it to the policy (I have since moved over to my husband's insurance). When she said she didn't know of any surgery I was planning, they started to explain it to her, then quickly stopped, backed out of the conversation, said nevermind, and then emailed me back to tell me that it wasn't covered. Not only am I embarrassed that she knows, and knew for months, but it reflected poorly in my review! She said she felt I was going behind her back and wondered what else I was hiding. She said the weight loss surgery was a personal matter and I didn't have to tell her the details, but she would have appreciated it if I had let her know that I was emailing HR "with an insurance question", so that SHE wouldn't have been so surprised when they called her. WTF.
  8. I'm still taking my liquid Vicodin a couple times a day, so I only notice the sore throat when it's worn off. Vicodin makes me nauseated too, but they gave me an anti-nausea prescription that really helped. You know what really hurts right now? My EAR. Right before going under for surgery, I took off my glasses and handed them away, and one of the nosepieces fell off. So I've been wearing an old pair since then that are way cooler looking, but ridiculously tight around my stupid right ear. Man, it hurts! I guess it's better than metal digging into my nose though.

    will I ever

When you guys say "eat normal" after 6 or 7 months, that doesn't mean I'll be able to eat a double cheeseburger and large fries, does it? I really don't want to have that much capacity.
  10. So here I am eating 2oz of a two-day old prepared plain Cream of Wheat packet (because that's how long it's taking to eat one packet) and 4oz of skim milk, while my husband brought himself home some supper and is currently eating what seems like the entire freaking Taco Bell menu. I made him go into the computer room to eat, but I can HEAR the crunching and SMELL the taco meat. I so want to crunch on something right now. On the TMI plus side, I finally went #2 today, the 4th day after surgery. It took an HOUR and I lost 1.2lbs. Afterwards, I was literally weak and shaky and felt like childbirth would have been easier. If I ever have a surgical procedure again, I will invest in a truckload of stool softener.
  11. So my surgeon and the hospitalist told me to resume all my meds when I came home from surgery. So I'm taking my blood pressure, depression, migraine pills, and also the things the surgeon prescribed: Prilosec and a muscle relaxant. But they stressed that for the first two months all my vitamins had to be liquid or chewable. I feel silly swallowing like 6 pills, and then having a chewable multivitamin and liquid calcium. Anyone else back to pills right away too?
  12. Hello! Time for me to join this thread. Drinking some Premier Protein shake right now, 4oz. So far today, I've eaten: 4oz protein shake 2oz cream of chicken soup 2oz SF pudding 4oz protein shake Water Haven't felt hungry yet. My husband is eating buffalo chicken bites and it smells good, and I'd love to have some, but it's not making me actually hungry at all!

    February Sleevers

Just got out of the hospital and on my way home now. Just a speedy (hopefully) 2 hour drive. I will have to catch up on the post-op thread tomorrow, in between catching up on Dexter. I ate some cream of wheat and pudding in the hospital, did alright. Kind of felt like crap after eating a couple tiny bites. I will have to really figure out where my full feeling is.

My surgery went great today! Surgeon said it was a terrific surgery lol. I don't even remember being given the anesthesia or anything. One moment, the anesthetist and his assistants were in the room asking if I was ready, and the next moment I was in recovery. Recovery sucked because of the pain, I couldn't sleep. But all was well once I got back to my room. Walked the halls 3 times, finally peed, doing good!

Well, we are down in Dayton at the hotel. My surgery time was bumped up from 10:45 to 7:15am! Let's hope the surgeon is a morning person!! I have to be at the hospital by 5:15. Not gonna sleep tonight at all. Too excited and anxious!

Ashley, as far as Unjury, my surgeon's office sells it, but otherwise I've only ever seen it for sale online! Isopure and Premier Protein I have seen in stores.

That's 5 bucks each. I don't know why the dollar sign didn't show up.

I got the Isopure at Meijer, in the pharmacy/vitamin section. Do you have a Meijer where you live? The GNC in our mall had the large glass bottles of Isopure in Apple Melon for $5 each. Ouch!

Ulrika, when I had my daughter via c-section, I had a bit of a panic attack myself when the anesthesia worked its way up my body and I wasn't able to take in a full breath. Not fun!
