no, dumping syndrome is not throwing up. Its exactly what you just described. Doesn't happen as often with the sleeve as with bypass, but it can. Especially if the food is sugary or has lots of fat in it.

Its not hunger growling Im 2 1/2 months out and mine still does that. My surgeon says its just the digestive juices working. With a smaller stomach its more noticeable.

Feel like a limp noodle.
Ladydawg2009 replied to chinamama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no complications, and it was about two week before I could take a shower with out sitting halfway through. Just took a bit to get used to the low calories. -
I had really bad pain in my shoulder and neck too. The nurses kept telling me it was gas and would pass in a couple days. Well when I went to have my drain removed on day 7 after surgery, it was still so bad I was taking the morphine pills just in the hopes it would help (which it didn't). When I asked my surgeon about it, he said it was possible that it was referred pain from the end of the drain poking my diaphragm. He was right. The second the drain was removed the pain was totally gone. Apparently there is a nerve that goes along the diaphragm and along the shoulder and neck. Who knew.

Im a DD and usually wear a bra to bed. My night time bra. Its a bit stretched, so it gives support with the tightness I need for day time support. It helps to have a bra that fits right. Many dept stores will do a fitting. Kinda weird to have someone measuring your lady parts, but so worth it, as it the extra bit of money spent on one that really fits.

Is it a true fear?
Ladydawg2009 replied to msslechix's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Love your post! Here's a tip. The money is yours. Your body is yours. No one else matters. If you were doing this for anyone but yourself, you would be doing it for the wrong reason. I myself have experienced both those issues. We could have used the money I spent on my copay for other things. But I think my health was at the top of the list of important things to spend money on. And I hear people all the time criticizing me for "taking the easy way." What they don't know, and I don't care that they don't, it that surgery is the hardest thing I have ever went through. I have given birth to a 10 pounds baby with no anesthetic, and would rather do that than another surgery. No my surgery wasn't out of the ordinary, just that it wasn't easy. The people who criticize are plain jealous. Either because they have weight they cant lose and aren't brave enough to take the step we have (or are going to) or they have some other failing they cant fix. So rejoice in yourself, and celebrate your journey. No one else matters right now but you! -
A Rant: Did you not read anything on this site before asking? Are you new here?!
Ladydawg2009 replied to rebecca_dsu's topic in Rants & Raves
There's a reason people ask these questions. Just in case something IS out of the ordinary. For instance, the pain in my left shoulder was NOT gas pain. After a full week of severe pain, and being constantly told it was gas, the surgeon and I discovered it actually was the end of the drain tube poking my diaphragm, causing referred pain. The moment he removed the drain the pain was gone. -
I read somewhere that many people who have surgery replace their food addiction with another, such as gambling or sex. Arent you glad its sex?

6 1/2 months out of surgery
Ladydawg2009 replied to bwatts13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! You look terrific! Thanks for sharing! -
The first day in the hospital I had a pain pump. I didn't use it much tho. It made me very sleepy. After that I took a very small pill. My surgeon said not all meds had to be liquid. Depended on what it was and how it was absorbed.

You are absolutely normal. Plan on the watery stools until you start eating something a little more solid. I had pain for about a week. Which freaked me out because I only took one week off work. But I woke up one day and felt much better. For the stool issue, I suggest getting some nice baby wipes. It will help soothe any irritation from the watery stool.

6 days post op-newbie
Ladydawg2009 replied to pinkdiamondprincess36's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also craved tuna! As soon as I could have some, ate it for breakfast and lunch! Made it with the seasoned tuna that comes in a pouch, with mayo and the bloomin onion sauce from miracle whip. Put some in my ramekin topped with cheese and warmed in the oven. yum. -
Constipation reason?
Ladydawg2009 replied to MrsGina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what works for me. A piece or two if sugar free candy. Especially the Russell Stover chocolate covered caramels. Only take one piece. Works better than any laxative. Its because of the sugar alcohol. -
I was told it was scar tissue forming internally. After about three days it went away. It was about three weeks out for me to when it happened. I almost had to take more time off work it hurt so bad!

Did you throw up? post op? or after you were sleeved?
Ladydawg2009 replied to Heather Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did vomit a day or two after surgery. But not in the way I used to. It was little spasms, I assume from having a smaller stomach. I was so scared to vomit, cause I thought it would hurt, but it was really almost a non-event. Plus it helped that right after surgery you really aren't able to eat much. -
Low Carbers question?
Ladydawg2009 replied to Evolving's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With my sleeve, im doing low carb whether I like it or not. By the time I get my protein in, not much room left for anything else. -
So I am five weeks post op and down 25 pounds since surgery. Going well. No reflux, and rarely feel actual hunger. Can eat about 3 oz at a time, unless it is dense, then a bit less. Still not able to reach my protein goal though. I have started using the frozen Yoplait Greek yogurt smoothie mix, with a scoop of the Jay Robb Dreamsicle protein powder. Tastes yummy, but makes about two servings. I have only had a few small problems. The first, was right after surgery the pain in my neck and shoulders was horrendous. I was told by the nurses and Dr that it was the gas from surgery working its way out of my system. I kept waiting for it to abate after a few days (as I was told it would). A week after surgery it was still so bad I was taking my pain pills just because if it. So I went to have my drain removed and told my surgeon about it. He said it could be cause by the end of the drain tube poking into my diaphragm. And it was! The moment he removed the drain it was gone. Such a relief! Then two weeks ago I had a muscle spasm n my neck so bad I couldn't move. My pcp says it was torticollis. Not surgery related. But it put a hold on my exercise. Still have some pain for it. However, the worst thing I have had to deal with was my one month postop visit with my surgeon. My apt was at 345. They took me to the room right on time. And then I sat. For an hour and a half! No one came in to say the Doc was running late. Actually, his office was right across the room I was in and he was on the phone the whole time. At 530 I walked out. I told reception I had to go, all she said was she understood. No call, no apt reset, nothing. As far as im concerned, I will deal with my pcp from now on.

Is Cigna always a nightmare to get approval?
Ladydawg2009 replied to sissytx's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have cigna and was denied the first time. It was because my pcp did not do a letter of medical clearance, which is different that a letter of medical necessity. If everything is done just as they ask, they approve quickly. Even with my denial, I was approve two weeks after the first submission. -
A Bougie is the tube the surgeon places in the stomache (through the esophagus). They then stretch the stomach around it and it guides the staple line. If you google the sleeve surgery, you can watch it being done and see how the bougie is used.

Hello everyone. I had my sleeve march 8. Two questions. Since the evening of the 9th, i have had a pain across the top of my left shoulder to my ear. Not unbearable, but at time pretty bad. Gets worse when i try to take a deep breath. My surgeon had no answer for me as to what it may be. Possible the gas from surgery, but he says it should have passed by now.Anyone else have this prob? Also, for the first time i got a really good look at my incision sites. The largest one, where the stomache is removed from, had a really big dimple. Bigger than my belly button. Is this normal? Today was the first time i was able to keep anything but water down. Yay!

March 8th sleevers!
Ladydawg2009 replied to Amanda626's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had mine march 8 also.Today was the first time i was able to keep down anything but water. Had some tomato soup and am now working on a protein shake. I am craving tuna salad. And ya, the first couple days were bad. I even was wishing i hadnt done it. I was in hospital until Sunday night. I wasnt using hardly any pain meds. I thought i would feel better quicker if i wasnt doped up. Plus they really knock me out. But i gave in yesterday. Between the pain meds and nausea meds, i am much better today, even if i am sleeping most of it away! -
