    Disney & My Sleeve

Has anyone been to Disney World since having their sleeve? I'm planning a May trip and I'll be 5 months post-op. I have no idea what I would be able to eat there. I'm wondering if I should bring all my own food. I do not want to stray from my diet plan and 4 oz.-per-meal limitation. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
  2. Does anyone else face food challenges? I'm talking about seeing, smelling and being around food we can no longer eat. Here are some foods I somehow found the willpower to resist (BUT wished I could have indulged!): * McDonald's fries and Shamrock shakes * buttered popcorn at the movies * icy cold Diet Coke
  3. What super low calorie Snacks is everyone eating? I'm 2 months post-op and kinda sick of popsicles and jell-o. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    eye site CHAAAABGES!

That's great! My vision changed also after being sleeved. My distance vision is a bit worse now. My eye doctor explained that can happen after sugar levels normalize (I was diabetic pre-op). He gave me a new prescription for contacts and I ordered them in "Pacific Blue"! If a new eye RX is all I need, I have nothing to complain about! Everything else has been so positive.

Thanks for all the great tips! I'm excited to go to Disney and I know I can make it work with my sleeve requirements!

    Disney & My Sleeve

If I went to a character dinner (buffet) with my family, is it possible for me to order, say, a cup of Soup? I never heard of the entertainment only fee. How much is that generally?

    crackers

    I bought the "Seedlander" variety...
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going grocery shopping in the morning to stock up!

    crackers

My nutritionist told me to stop eating wheat Ritz crackers and switch to a brand called "Doctor Kracker Snackers". She said they were healthier. They taste awesome! Five crackers has 3 grams of protein and 75 calories. (I bought them at Whole Foods.)
  10. I'm freezing all the time and I'm loving it! It was an unexpected bonus! Before surgery, I was always sweating. Air conditioning was my friend. I remember being at Disney World and seeking out one air conditioned gift shop after another to get out of the ungodly heat.
  11. I'm 2 months post-op. I find it very hard to drink Water. It just sits in my gut like a ton of bricks. But I can drink broth with no problem. I go through a lot of it and I'm able to get my 64 oz. in. The weird part is I crave ice water when drinking the Soup. I alternate between sips of broth and ice water.

    Paczkis!

This is my first FAT TUESDAY w/o my beloved paczkis! It was so hard at work today - I'm a teacher - the classrooms were filled with the smell of paczkis. There were paczkis in the teachers' lounge, in the library, in the office. The students were all given them....raspberry, apple, strawberry and custard. I do believe I drooled. The only consolation is it may be called FAT Tuesday but I am 70 slimmer than last year!

    Are you serious?

I met with a liver specialist recently. He knew I had had the sleeve. So I was surprised by his comment that my 70 pound weight loss "wasn't good enough." He felt I should have lost more by now. I was sleeved 7 weeks ago.

    Stuggling

I'm sorry you're not feeling great. I struggle getting enough fluids in as well. It took me all day at work yesterday to drink 32 oz. of Water. And it made me feel sick. And I still was no where near the 64 oz. of water I'm supposed to drink. I find drinking chicken broth is easier than water. I don't like the store brands so I make my own. I'm out now so that's why I'm stuck with water until I get enough omph to make another batch!

    protein bars

Yesterday, my nutritionist recommended Quest Protein bars. I bought them at GNC and love them! I bought chocolate brownie but they have chocolate Peanut Butter, too (and high protein peanut butter cups). 20 grams protein 160 calories 19 grams Fiber
  18. I'm 6 weeks post-op and have had no complications. Does anyone know if I can start using an exercise bike?

Milk Duds got the better of me!

I had NO willpower before surgery. After surgery, it wasn't like - BOOM - instant willpower. BUT I haven't had any sweets because I'm afraid to eat stuff like that. I still hear milk duds calling my name, but I'm too scared to even think about eating even one! I imagine my staples popping out and that's not good for anyone!
  20. My stats are very similar to yours. I had surgery Dec. 18 and initially the weight came off really fast. I'm 7 weeks out now and have lost 64 pounds.
  21. I eat oatmeal and 1/2 a banana for Breakfast. lunch is a Laughing Cow cheese wedge and 5 Ritz wheat crackers. For dinner I usually eat either pureed chicken or tuna and crackers. Snacks include cottage cheese and one string cheese. I should note I'm always starving and wish I could eat more! The only exercise is walking. I see the exercise person tomorrow at the weight clinic to see if I can start using a stationary bike.
  22. I was sleeved Dec. 18 and I'm down 61 pounds.
  23. I found chicken broth more satisfying than water. It really worked when I was starving plus I was able to get in the required amount of liquids!
  24. I would take a protein shake.
  25. My list: solid white tuna chicken breasts light mayo low fat cottage cheese low fat string cheese Laughing Cow light Swiss wedges Ritz wheat crackers bananas no sugar added oatmeal Special K Protein cereal no sugar added fudgsicles
