  1. I had mine at OHSU with Dr Deveney. Don't know if its a Center of Excellence, but the whole experience was great. The staff were so kind and helpful, from the pre-op, to surgery, to release. And Dr Deveney is gifted. I've had none of the problems I hear about, other than acid reflux, which I had before the surgery. Probably the best hospital experience I've ever had.

Isn't that what the Percocet is for?

    Food question?

My tummy doesn't like acid, but if they don't bother you, enjoy!

    Cheeseburgers?

Ok, now I have to make one!

    Cheeseburgers?

Good luck. Don't let anyone pressure you into eating too much!

Do you drink with your food?

At most a TINY sip at the end to clear the dryness. But after 30 minutes is up I start hitting the water hard to get 80-100 oz in. Eating and drinking sure takes a lot of concentration now!

    Cheeseburgers?

I love how these threads digress. From cheeseburgers to VSG dating, too funny. Not interested in dating (could use a good l*y though). Maybe that's why I have a mad craving for a burger. Missing meat.

surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

Wow! That does look like it hurts. The incisions take about a week before they really start feeling better. Rest up, and if you have anyone to help you, let them!

surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

I had very little pain. The nurses kept getting on my case about not using my morphine (i used it once in 8 hours instead of every 8 minutes). Don't stress about it.
  16. It really varies person to person, especially in the beginning. I could eat French fries with no prob at 2 weeks (not that I should be), but others can't tolerate them. No way to tell until after surgery. I think in time, though, most people can eat carbs again. My doc said there wasn't anything I couldn't eat within a few months. I love carbs, but for my health and happiness I'm willing to forego them for awhile.

5wks PO, and YES I regret

My BMI was 38 on surg day. Exercise is a struggle. Tonight I had a mandatory dinner with our new VP. I was good, only had 3 bites of Salmon and 1 bite of cauliflower, but I'm not going to the gym at 9:00 pm when I have to be up at 5. Doing my best to get it in as often as I can. Work screws me up A LOT! Still positive though. I've never lost more 12 lbs on my own, and I gained it back + 5. Not ready to throw in towel just yet. :-)
