Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous
manderdjs replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
January 10th was my new life date. and as of today I have lost 60 lbs of the 100 lbs goal. I think the best part is how great I feel. Even though it is a little slower loss now than at first I am still happy. I use palmers lotion everyday and skin issue isn't a problem (yet) and maybe it won't be. Hair loss has been thinning for 3 months and I think it has slowed down too. No new regrowth yet. I take a daily vitamins and calcium and b/12 and my labs are great. I joined a gym and LOVE to exercise now!!! I am so blessed to have been given this new life. I will always take care of myself now. -
I am half way with 50 lbs to go and also in a stall fir the last 7 weeks. I talked to my NUT yesterday. She told me with the amount of exercise I am getting that I need to get in 900-1000 calories 80g of carbs (good carbs) and 29g of fat. I asked her about Adkins no carbs and she said no way. This is a tool to help me for the rest of my healthy life. A yoyo diet isn't the route to go. A stall is normal to help my body adjust and catch up to the quick loss. I had a friend and her mom that did the Hcg hormone shots. There hair and skin looked so bad and fell out (I know mine will too) BUT the mother had breast cancer that she didn't know about. The hormone shots advanced the tumor growth. Her dr said that Hcg is human growth hormones and will advance growth in any cancer cells. Please be patient and continue on the right life changing path. The weight will come off again just let your body catch up and remember "this too shall pass".

Hair loss has hit here too. Comes out like I am shedding excessively. No bald spots (yet) I am bummed that I am in a 3 week stall. I dropped 3 lbs two days ago and got excited but those 3 lbs came back this morning. I am trying all the change ups to trick my body but no luck yet. I am 1/2 way to goal so I am still a very happy sleeve buddy!! Sleeved jan 10th with 100 lbs to loose. -

Wow you look so GOOD!!! Congrats. What was you goal weight loss? I started this journey needing to loose 100#. I am 6 weeks and down 28 #. I just was trying to see about how long it will take. I am thinking around a year. Did you exercise a lot? I am just think you look great. -
Thank you everyone. I know it was part of the process and I agree that I will take it with a grin on my face b/c I am getting a life changing chance to be healthy! Just wanted to understand the underlining reason. I also have a thyroid issue that could cause the thin hair. I think I will get those level checked now that I have lost 28 lbs. Thanks again for offering a reason to this side effect.

I know it is a side effect to loose your hair but WHY? I have tried to avoid this b/c I already have thin hair. It will be two months next week. I have taken 5000mg of biotin (sometimes twice a day) I use a keritan shampoo an a conditioner. I get around 70g of protein a day and meet all my fluid goals. I exercise at least 30 min to an hour daily. I also meet all the goals for vitamins daily. The last two days my hair is starting to come out. Is there a reason why? And anything more I could do to slow down or stop the process.

Isopure leaves a film in my mouth
manderdjs replied to mom2five's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I drink one a day b/c I can't drink the creamy type shakes. Yes it leave a little film but I use ice. Equal ice to drink and let it melt to dilute it down. I drink and crunch ice until it is all gone then pour the rest of the drink with ice. Helps me to get my protein and liquid down with less firm taste. -
Question for those who have already lost a lot of weight.

^^^^^^^ what leeann71 said. The dr will figure out this for you but since you can only get in so much at a time push for the most protein as possible. Add protein power to your potatoes. The injury protein Soup is good too. We are here for you on the support side. -

OMG how funny and strange at the same time. I have no idea how that got put in there. That was an email to her coach. Guess I better check that she got the email. Guess I better start proofing before posting. I just found the edit button. Fixed. -

Yes this is true. I don't drink Gatorade. I meant to say that I drink a drink that taste like Gatorade. I can't drink milky or shake drinks so I found the Isopure from GNC that is has 40g protien and it taste like a Gatorade without all the salt. -

I was sleeved on 1/10/2013. I am having an easy go at this. I am not saying to rub it in I was going to tell you what I eat and drink at this stage. I wake up and as I take my kido to school I start drinking the isopure punch protein 40g (like Gatorade) with equal ice to drink about 10oz. I drink that all and wait thirty minutes then I eat a scrambled egg and 3 slices of turkey meat 12g protein. This will sometimes take me an hour to eat. I eat it slow and chew chew. I want to get all the protein in. Thirty minutes later I start working on the rest (10 more oz) of the Isopure protein drink before lunch. Usually lunch is one string cheese and 3 slices of turkey meat 10g protein. If I have finished the protein drink then I start drinking on the vitamin water. I have what ever the family has for dinner. Tonight is three bean turkey chili. 11g protein. I am getting about 600 calories a day and 75 ish proteins a day. I take two Flintstone vitamins and two calcium 600mg a day too (not at the same time) I take b/12 injections about every two weeks. This really helped with energy. During all this I am walking as much as possible. I wear the fitbit tracker and that has helped to keep me moving. I am almost 6weeks and have lost 27 lbs. I hope this helps. I am not sure how I could get in 1000 calories. I do know that more protein and b/12 has helped my energy a lot. I also cannot drink cream shakes that is why I drink the Gatorade type drinks.
