I had a panic attack after getting my date. 2 1/2 years later and I don't regret it ever! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I drink caffeine water! Yes they have it and you get the kick and it doesn't upset your stomach! It's called Avitae water. You can get it from their web site Amazon or lots of stores across the country. GoAvitae.com I love it and I was a Diet Coke junky! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I had mine 2 1/2 years ago and have never regretted it. I admit as I was getting on the OR table I was like do I really want to do this? Yes you do. It's a tool and not perfect but gave me my health back. I am an RN too so I was glad to be an example to my patients. Go for it. There is pain the first week or two and you have to ease back into solid food but you will get there. The straw thing is real. The air in your stomach can hurt. The feeling full too you will feel it! And if you push it you will vomit[emoji33]. And the not drinking while eating is true too but after a while you can sip a little if you need to. Eating spicy food you need to!if you try an alcohol drink watch out! It can hit you really fast. But look at this way 1 drink and you are done! Saves money. Also the take home box is your friend. I order what I want but I usually take 1/2 or more home. But if I feel like it I eat it later. Again it's a tool not magic. But I wanted to live a better life and I have. Good luck. Remember get up as soon as you can after the surgery. Also use the binder they give you. It helps a lot the first 2-3 weeks giving your abd wall support. Also use pain medication. You don't get extra brownie points for going without it. So says the RN in me! The pain mostly comes from the larger hole on the side of you belly button. It's the place the do most of the surgery from and they have to move in and out of it more. So don't be surprised if there is more pain in that area. They close it with a web like suture that you pull and it closes he hole. They usually use it to close a person up who has a chest tube for a collapsed lung. I'm getting violent without caffeine
cejiogu replied to mollydeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't give up the caffeine pre op. I was a bad girl. Had bad headache 1 day post op! But I found a Water with caffeine in it. It's called Avitae water. You can get it at a lot of super markets. Go to their web site and you can see where in your area you can get it. The 90mg is the best equal 1 cup of coffee. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Don't worry not everyone has a hard time with fluids. It's ok to have it go well! Just be careful when you start to eat food you go slow. The vomiting the first time can really hurt. And yes you will have it happen! You will need to learn how much you can eat and how long it will take you to eat. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Don't kick yourself see it as a good bye to McDonald. I had a fish sandwich on my clear diet pre op! I had the surgery in May 2014. Lost 135 lbs and I am healthy. I went from 8 pills a day to 1 plus vitamins. You will question it as you are getting on the table! I did but as I put on my size 12 pants I thank god for the tool. I was a 28. Don't keep the fat wall come walk in the sun !

I had to give up my Diet Coke. I found a sub it's called avitae caffeine water. You can get it online at Office Depot or in the market like Safeway. It's just water but does the trick!
-
It's not an easy way out but helps you keep off the weight. I am fighting myself after 20 months out. I lost 135 lbs and have gained back 15 in the last 5 months. I lost my job of 10 years. I am a single mom of 3 boys no support from my ex. I got another job but it's hard to start over with a new set of people, etc. food is my drug and I fell off the wagon. I am trying again! I need to lose at least 10 lbs so I have tight clothes. I don't want to go down the bad health road again too. I was taking 9 pills a day before surgery. Now I take 1 and my vitamins. Life is good! I am a health care professional too so I know better. But it's still hard. I do not want to put on my fat suit again! I like the new me. It looks like the old one just moves faster!

I drink a water called Avitae. It's made in Ohio and it just plain water and caffeine! I was a diet coke junkie. I work overnight so I did not give up caffeine and I don't like coffee or tea. They just came out with flavor one too this last month. You can order it online from Amazon or Office Depot. I use Office Depot because it is less expensive but Amazon gets it to you in 1-2 days. You can check them out on line and Facebook.

When I looked at the eight to nine pills a day I was taking I had my what I call "come to Jesus moment" I did not want to die from something I had control over. Also I have a disabled child who needs me to live. On top of it I am an RN and know better! I know I could lose the weight on my own but I could also gain it all back. The sleeve is a tool that has kept me from it. I have had a hard time this last month and gain like 5 lbs which I am working on taking off starting yesterday. But I am still a size 12 today down from a 24-26. I take one pill a day for thyroid that runs in my family. Tomorrow will be 2 years since my surgery and me thinking should I do this as I was getting on the OR table. I have no regrets and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Says the girl with all the great clothes!

I am! I have noticed that I am up a few lbs and need to loose it! I will take back my sleeve too! No drinking for a month more protein less weight watchers ice cream! Starting tomorrow afternoon because I am going out in the morning after work because it's my mom's bday. Only cheese omelette for breakfast! Protein is my middle name!!
