    Hi, I'm new!

Keep going guys! Was the best thing I have done for myself and my health. Had mine may1 I am down 85 lbs as of this week. I have also be enable to rid of 5 pills I was taking for type II and other stuff. You will be a new you and be able to tear down the wall that fat has been keeping you prisoner. You will go through good and tough time after the surgery but in the long run you will not regret it!
  2. It took me 3 weeks to not have pain at my main incision site. You should wait at least 2 weeks so you can be sure it's healing before you sleep on it.

    I am embarrassed

I didn't tell anyone to start only my sister because she came to help me for a week after. I now am op en about it with people at work and family. I have inspired 2 girls that I work with to have some type of procedure. I am behind them 100 percent. After you have the surgery and start losing weight you may feel different. I tell people that I could have lost the weight but I would have gained it back. While I know you can gain weight even if you have a sleeve you have to work really hard at it! The chances of me doing it are very slim now (haha) I have lost 85 pounds since may. I am not looking back!
  4. I was questioning myself right up to them putting the mask over my face in the or. Do I really need or want this? Well that was May 1 st. Here on Sept 9 th I just lost my 85 th pound this am. I have given up 4 pills for type 2 and if my blood test is good next month I will give up 3 more! I look better but the real point is I feel better. I will not die because of food. I have kick the wall of fat away. You will question but 1 month from the recovery room you will be thanking any higher power you believe in that you did it.
  5. Even when I thought I would change my mind as I was getting on the OR table. I would do it again in a heart beat. Have gotten rid of 4 pills so far and hope to get rid of 3 more this month. Down 82 lbs since may. People at work have had to look twice at me just this week. I hope to live longer for myself and my kids. Hell yes a million times!
  6. 4 months out and own 82 pounds. He'll yes I would do it again! Even if I didn't lose any more weight from now I would do it. I have ended 4 pills and maybe 3 more this next month.
  7. Yes that is were most of the pain is because they work mostly through that hole. Also the stitch they use to close it is sort of like a spider web. As they pull out it closes. They usually use it when a person has a chest tube and they take it out after a lung has re inflated. It hurts for the first 3 to 4 weeks but better after. Sleep side to side and take pain med before so you can get some sleep!

    My pet peeve

Sorry you are having to put up with it. But if you really look she has probably been like his since you met her. You have her boy and she sees you as some type of competition. You did it the better way. You will loose the wight and not gain it back! She maybe has a fear that this can and will happen. Pity her and join a group under a assumed name!
  12. I was able to call my family about 12 pm and I was done at 8 am. Maybe she having pain issues and just has not been up to texting/FB. Call her if ou can and see. Better then worrying and as RNs we have a bigger imagination on what can go wrong!

    My incision opened

It shouldn't real hurt. The main thing you need to do is to keep it clean and use antibacterial on it if MD says so. If it gets really painful quickly and you see any red area around it that is warm to the touch. You need to go to the hospital, you will have an infection. If caught early it should not be bad. Do not ignore the signs. You have pain from surgery but this kind of pain will come on quickly and be worse then any you had before. Don't bite the bullet go get help ASAP!

    Help in PAIN!

If you feel like you are really having a blood clot you need to go to the ER. Do you have pain in your chest? Are you feeling warm and pain in a place like you chest or lower abd? At your inc sites? Is anything coming out of the sites that is green of yellow and smells bad? Do you feel like you are loopy or a little crazy? These can all be s/sx that you have a blood clot. If so you need to go to ER ASAP. If you are just feeling good for a couple of hours then worse and the. Good again, then you maybe able to wait and see md or go to urgent care in the am. Don't work yourself up.try to really ask you the questions of where is pain what is it like and how long has it been going o ? Also the thing about one place bee Ing warm or oozing fluid color and smell. If you do t ha e any of this you may just have worked yourself up. That is ok if you have Ativan Xanax etc take one and see if it will relax you. You s/sx may be coming from anxiety about your new situation and life. Understood, we have all been there, change is hard and we have all committed to change by having the surgery. This period is like a new birth. We will love it in the end but the labor to get there can be painful. Hang in there! You can do it.
  17. I found it is easier with fried eggs. I can eat 2. And one piece of bacon. Scrambled I have found hard to keep down. Also if you get it fried it is easier to see how much you eat.

    Frustrated I need guidance

The IUD should not keep you from losing weight. But have you had your thyroid checked? You have done a great job but if you feel like you are lacking energy and not losing go to your PCP and ask for the blood work.

  21. Sugar free pudding. Low sugar pudding pops. Even if its a little will make him feel better. Or non fat vanilla geek yorgart
  22. I think us who were heavier may feel that surgery is the last resort and we don't wish it on anyone unless t is needed. That being said it is a tool and if you have tried everything else then more power to you. I hope you lose all the weight you need to and keep it off. I was larger but had some small Heath problems that would have become much larger if I didn't get the weight off. It's the I have to lose weight vs I have to lose a lot of weight syndrome. More power to us all!
  23. The pre op is the hardest. A good friend is sugar free popclicle. You can eat them until the cows come home. They also count towards hydration. But I promise you when you step on the scale for pre op you will have lost weight. I lost 15 lbs and I was only on it for 10 days because of my last md appt. and surgery date. I was done may 1st and I am down total 76 lbs. so keep going.

    Quitting smoking

I didn't smoke but was a 2 liter a day diet coke person. Quit the day before surgery. I drink caffeinated water now and regular water. But I do miss m DC.
  25. You will not fail! I had my surgery may first as of aug 15 I have lost 76 lbs. now I will tell you I am not exercising 6 hours a day. Fact is I hate going to the gym. Been just walking. You can do it. It is a tool but you will love your new life. Ask yourself do I like the wall I have around myself I.e. the fat you have on you. Yes I will use the F word. You are blocking the real you, change is hard and the box you have been in is easy. You may not like it but you are use to it. Come on and bust out. Don't let your drug food rule your life any more! We are here for you even if no one else is. You need and want to live. I have gotten rid of 4 pills connected to my weight and health situation. I hope at the end of the month to get rid of at least 2 more. I want to live for myself and my kids. You can too... Reach for the stars because its there. You can do it. If I can anyone can. Even if I don't lose another pound I would be happy. I am at least at a weight where people are not as judgemental of me because of my size. Also I am at least in a size 16-18 were I can get some regular clothes. I want to loose another 60 lbs and who knows. I might even get a man in my life again. Or go back to school like I planned or a job in management. The sky's the limit! Please give yourself the gift of your life back.
