    Post -Op time off work?

I am an l and d nurse. I took 8 weeks so I could get my energy level back. I work 12 overnight.
  2. No but you should check to make sure they cover it. I am in California and my only out of pocket was the 250 dollar co pay plus the usual 20 dollars when I see the doctor. If you have flex spending account a and your surgery will be after Jan 1 you can figure out the cost and use the account. That is what I did.

    Getting Discouraged

If you look up fatty liver online you will see what it has done. It really does a number on it, but dropping a little fat before the surgery will help you after. I had to do it and my liver function test just before my surgery were much better. 94 lbs later from May and I feel great! Hang in there.
  4. Do u have a binder? If u don't get one because u will be able to sleep and move more without the pain.

    Daily multivitamins

Does anyone know why so doctors don't want us to take gummies? I have because I was always forgetting to take my vit. Now it's like a little treat and have only missed it once in a month
  6. As I always say to patients and family from your mouth to God's ears! You can never tell how fast or slow babies will come. Had pt yesterday went from 5 to 10 cm in 10 mins. Was not her first child but the baby almost came out on the bed. Luckily the doctor got there in time and I didn't have to grab her. I have had to in the past. One of the plus and minus of my job.
  7. The epidural should help if she stalled a little. The relaxing of her muscles from the pain should help also if they started her on pit she should get it so she can handle the pain. She should hopefully go 1cm every 2 hours and can push from 1 to 3 hours because this is her first. Hang in there everything should be fine!
  8. Glad for the baby. And may I say great that you are waiting at home for the call. I am a labor and delivery nurse and today many members of the family feel they have the "right" to be in the labor room because they are fill in the blank. The only person who has the right is the mother to be and maybe the father if she wants him! Again congrats to you for the baby and having manners and class.

    Freshly sleeved

Hang in there guys there is light at the end of the tunnel. The 1 month is the hardest because of the post op pain and trying to get things to stay down. Binders can be your best friend the first month. I don't know why they don't give it to most people as a standing order. Mine was and really helped the first month moving around and sleeping. I was done on May 1 st. Since then I have lost 92 lbs and gone from size 24-26 down to at least 24-16. I have about 20 more pounds to go. I have been back to work for 3 months. I am an RN so my job is very physical. I needed 8 weeks off because I needed to get my energy level back to semi normal before going back. You will get it back around week 4. Hang in there the food gets better and you will feel this is your new normal. Food is not your only friend now you are! The walls are coming down and while you may have some doubts they will pass. No more hiding now it's the real you to come out and play.

    sleeved 9/23

It takes about 4 weeks to feel normal. The incision pain is usually gone by then and your energy level will even out. I was done May 1st I am down 92 lbs as of this week. Hang in there you will make it.
  11. Mine has slowed down too. I had medium thick hair so it hasn't been noticeable. Just bought my first size 16 in 20 years. I have lost 90 lbs since may 1. People really noticed at work my weight loss because my clothes fit! They saw that I was losing before but with the yoga pants I got you can see that my legs are really smaller. I am loving it! Keep the faith girls and boys. If my blood works comes back good this week I will get rid of 3 more pills and only be down to thyroid and vitamins! This is the real reason I did this. I hopefully not be dead from something stupid at a not so old age .i hope to like a few more years and have fun in the process.
  12. Do not worry! You start clean tomorrow, and no talk of laxatives! That sounds like eating disorder talk. The pre op diet is so you can get use to the first two weeks post op and loose some fat from around your liver. It's makes it easier for your surgeon to work.

    Food Funerals?

    recovery time

Even if you feel good after the first two weeks you go through an energy level transition in week 3 to 6. It's because of the type of food you can eat. By week 6 you will hopefully level out and feel a lot better because of the weight you have lost. I am down 90 lbs since May 1st and 5 pills.

    recovery time

I took 8 weeks off but my job as an RN can be very labor oriented. That is a little job because I am a labor and delivery nurse. But standing at the bedside for a couple of hours of pushing can take it out of a girl!

    Coffee after being sleeved

I did not give up caffeine because I work overnight and can't live without it. I did change to Avitae water from diet coke. I miss my diet coke but this is just water with some caffeine in it! I drink like 2 a day and regular water the rest of the time. I don't like coffee so no problem but I feel for you guys that do!

    Still in the hospital

Take your gasx if you can! It really helps with the walking.
  18. The binder you can get at like rite aid cvs. If your local one does not have them a medical supply store should have them. My incision also hurt like hell. Took about 4-5 weeks not to hurt. Also realize the stitch they use to close it is one that usually hurts. It's like a cone web shape. They usually use this stitch when hey take out a chest tube. So hang in there at least we were asleep when they closed it. A chest tube pt is awake and screaming like hell!

    caffeine free protein coffee?

I admit I have not given up caffeine. I gave up my diet coke the day before my surgery on may 1st. I now drink water with caffeine in it. I have cut back a lot but could not give it up totally because I work overnight. I am an RN that works 12shifts. You need a little bust at 3am when you are trying to get a baby out of a woman! The water I get is great because it has no taste. If I want I can add any flavor to it. I miss my diet coke but I love my new sleeve and 90 lbs loss more!
  20. I don't drink 10 to 25 mins before because I have drank some water forgot that I did and tried to eat which lead to me throwing up. It has happened several times I also do not drink during a meal. It was hard at first but gets easier as you go one.
  21. Just a quick note. Was done may 1st, lost my 90 lbs as of this morning. Celebrated by buying new jeans size 16 down from 24-26. Good day for me!
  22. Girl when I made the leap to have the surgery vs the lapband I had a calm feeling come over me and then a panic attack! You need to move at a rate that is good for you. I was just ready to get a date and my PCP changed groups and it set me back 6 moths because they had a new weight in procedure from the other group. I bite the bullet and did the extract 6 months. I got the date May 1st, but I was questioning myself up until they put the mask on me to knock me out. I am so happy that I did it. So keep going slow if it gives you the power to keep going. The finish line is the new life you will get and the better health that come along with it. Remember it is a tool that you have control over to change your life. Bust down the fat wall and come out and join the world you will be glad that you did.

    Surgery 10/17/13 scared

Dear you are being selfish if you don't have the surgery. The wall of weight that you have built will only get bigger harder to carry as time goes on. You may have good health now but I can tell you in 2 5 10 years it won't be. It will slowly eat at you with a joint pain here, a type II borderline there, problems breathing and no energy. I have 3 boys one has autism. I got he light last year that I cannot die right now. I am 49 not really old but not so young. In the last 4 1/2 months I have lost 90 lbs and got back to a place I thought I could never return. If you need this tool, run don't walk towards it. If you feel that you can lose the weight the regular way I have your back. But if you feel that you have gone down that road and it hasn't worked, come to the sleeved side. In the long run when you are playing with your kids and have all the energy and health in the world you will thank god that he put you on this road to a better quality of life. Remember you could get hit by a bus tomorrow so using your children as an excuse will get you know where and all alone behind your wall. Come out to the daylight, we will be waiting for you with a great sunscreen!

    Relationship

I had to got to this weight guy for 6 months then just as I finished my PCP changed groups and had to start agin with another NUT and weigh ins for 6 months. I went through it and after I was ok'ed by my insurance. Sometimes the road is hard but girl the alternative is worse ! Don't give into the wall that you have built around your body! Take a deep breath and do what needs to be done. You will not regret taking your life back.
