    Any nurses out there?

I was given 6 weeks and got it extended to 8. It took at least a month for me to not have pain. And another 2 to feel my energy level was back to normal. I am a labor and delivery nurse to I can get really physical. But at least 4. I work 12 hour shifts overnight. Hardest part was giving up my diet coke. I found a dub in a water with caffeine.

My last 4 can of diet pepsi

I was a diet coke addict. I gave it up the day before surgery. I found a form of water with caffeine in it! It's called avitae water. You can get it at some walgreens or like me I buy it from Office Depot by the case. I don't drink coffee and I work overnight so I need some caffeine. It's good stuff because it only tastes like water. You can add anything to to jazz it up. It is made in Ohio so if you are from there they have it in some local stores.

Starting my first day preop diet

Have you guys got sugar free popclicles? They are great and jello. Help with the cranky feelings. You will hate them by 2 weeks post op but have the honeymoon now! I loved jello sugar free pudding rice especially. I don't like sweet stuff that much but it helps. Keep strong I am 10 months out and at goal weight for 2 months.

    Scared

Dear I was questioning this up until the mask was going over my face on the OR table! It's normal and for a couple of weeks after you will say what the hell did I do?! But in the end as I sit here at goal and 6 pills down from what I had to take... I am a happy camper and you will be too. We are addicted to food. It's hard because you just can give it up but you can have a better relationship with it and you will!

    My surgery

Feel better. That's why you are in the hospital for two days after. Hopefully the n/v feelings will be better tomorrow. Take your pain med and eat your jello if you can! Welcome to the club.

    Sleeve Myths

I agree with it all. I lost my goal weight in 9 months. I have been about the same weight for the last 6 weeks. I don't get on the scale more then once a week if that. I do t really get to exercise that much but I am a nurse and according to my fitbit I usually walk 3 miles on a slow night and 5 on a busy one. I also work overnight so my eating and metabolism are not the usual one. Overall I am happy with my weight now but most important my health! I am off all my type two meds I am down to my thyroid med Lipitor and vits! I was taking 6 pills a day for my health to be boarder line bad! Now I don't need them. And on top of it I look better then I did. I haven't sen this face since I was 28 and had my first kid. That kid turned 21 in December. I really did this for myself because I didn't want to die from something stupid! I have a 15 year old with autism that needs me to live as long as possible. Also being a nurse I felt like I know what I am doing wrong better then the average person. I owe this to myself my kids and my family and friends in that order. In the end I only have myself to high five or not. Right now I am high 20 ing myself and hope to for the rest of my hopefully long life!
  7. To make it simple I was sleeved on May 1 2013. I was 310 pre op as of jan 4 2014 I reached my goal weight of 180 that 130 in 8 months and I am not a super exerciser. So you can take this to the bank!
  8. Aw my surgeon today. He was happy that I met my goal weight 180 lbs down from 310 lbs as of May 1,2013 when I had my surgery. He put me on his web site with before and after pics. I a So wrote a little thing about him and his office staff. How they are great and his after care is great too. Better I also gave a pep like talk to 3 women in the waiting room about how I had done and the ups and downs of the first couple of months post op. They all where going for their surgery in the next month or two. All said that I helped them and I was glad I could give them the support. Told them all I was a RN too so I was looking at my experience from a patient point of view and a health care professional. I loved my whole experience the nurses at the hospital where great. I called the public relation people and head of nursing several weeks after to tell them how great they had been they passed it on to the staff. If you guys love your nurses call write or fill out the survey the hospital may give you. I will tell you a nice note will be kept for years by the nurse you send it too. It is our job but it's nice to know if you make a difference in a patients life. Well off the topic but hang in there one and all! I am and guys if I can do it you all can too.
  9. The psych visit is not such a big deal. Keep on going you will make it happen!

    Anxiety and getting sleeved

But if you don't change you can die from the complications from being over weight. I know I was questioning the surgery up until they were putting the mask over my face on the OR table. That was may 1 2013. 130 lbs lost since jan 2 nd. You will all be glad for the change. You will feel up and down with the change but I eat anything I want just in real small amounts. Hang in there! I was 310 now 179.

    Surgery Tomorrow

I was second guessing myself until they put the mask over my face. Since May I have lost 127lbs and I am off all medication except my thyroid. Keep going you will love the change just takes time.
  15. I use Atkins pre made. Easy for work. I also got baratric choice.
  16. I usually wait but only like 10 mins. It depends upon how I feel. I was sleeved in May 2013

    Should I call or wait?

Hang in there. Keep going! Keep your head down and run their drill. It is all worth it. I had my 50 th bday yesterday. I was done on May 12013. I am at goal after I have lost 127 lbs. I am now where I was 22years ago. I have gotten rid of all my type 2 meds and several more that where related to it. My kids are happier because I am. And I will tell you I changed my relationship with food but I do not feel that I live a life and don't get to eat great stuff. I still get the great stuff just not as much! The fat wall is gone. Come on girl climb over yours and come out with the rest of us. I know it's hard to get through the system. I had all 6 months with a NUT done and then my primary doctor changed medical groups and I had to do that part all over again because they won't accept the first one. Was not fun but I did it. We have your back and will be there for you!

    serious second thoughts

Hang in there girl and keep going. You will be glad to do this now and not 20 years from now. Also you will be able to have kids if you chose to after you loose the weight. If you did it now with it it could lead to you loosing the baby or your own life. Your health is ok now, but as time goes on it won't be. You are young live your life and break down the fat wall. We have your back. After 9 months I am down 127 lbs and have a great life. Which my kids are very happy for.
  19. I was having second thoughts on the or table as the mask came down on me! 9 months and 126 lbs later i don't now
  20. I had to do my nut over! I went to the 6 months then my PCP changed groups and I had to use their nut. Would not accept the one I did. Long and short re did it was sleeved on May 1 2013. I have lost 126 lbs and met my goal weight. Also just got off all diabetic meds. Keep up the struggle girl it is worth it!

    Returning to work

I am a labor and deliver nurse and I took 8 weeks off. I felt ok at 6 weeks but my energy level kept going up and down. With another 2 weeks I was ready to get back to work. I work 12 hour shifts and overnight. Everyone is different. As a wound nurse you may only need a week or two. I had pain the first two so I was on heavy pain meds. Hang in there I was sleeved on May 1 and have lost 126lbs and reached my goal weight last week. Went to Vegas and had a great time to celebrate !
  23. Me too. I am cold at work most of the time. I work overnight so I thought it was the hospital not me. I can sit there with 2 shirts a jacket and a blanket from the warmer and still be cold!
  24. People red boots.. Do you guys watch how I met your mother? Ted likes to "rock his red boots"
  25. You go girl. I am just like you. I have the sleeve in May but it's my work that has lost the 123 lbs. also had a weird guy for a nut. Worked with him because I had too. Insurance changed at last min. Had to do 6 months again with regular nut. In the end got what I wanted!
