Anybody take sleep aids (Unisom)?
cejiogu replied to Ah0505's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take ambien every night since I came home May3rd. I can take it whole now 5weeks out. I need it because I work overnight. I don't look forward to going back to work at beginning of July. I am a RN so I have taken more time off because I have to move and lift people. -
You are never to young to tie your tubes unless you are 15? I am a labor and delivery RN. As long as you sign the paperwork 3o days before the procedure you should be ok. If you feel like you are done and I mean done have them tied. If you feel like?? Well..... Then get an IUD. But the idea now a days is that you can be to you g especially if you already have over3 kids and you are under 25

Any northern cali kaiser members?
cejiogu replied to jmonique78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With kids that young you will need help for at least 2weeks if you can get it. Your pain level might not be great after surgery but you will not be able to lift the kids. You should not lift anything over 10 lbs for at least a month. Also your energy level will be up and down. -

I meant to say it was the same for me. The spell check on this thing kills me some times on the words it replaces! -
YUM....Sugar Free Jello Temptations Mousse
cejiogu replied to May142013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Inness he same way, jello not easy to eat pudding was great. They have a new one called dulce de leche that I love!!! It looks like Carmel on the top and a milky vanilla taste. Not really sweet but is sugar free but tastes like the real thing! -
Anyone willing to post scar pictures?
cejiogu replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far the main incision will leave a small scar and the other spots are so small they should fade. The big one will be on your right hand side of your abdominal area.about 2 inches above belly button and slightly to the right. Others will be in a circle around this main area. The main pain comes from the main incision because that is where most of the surgery takes place and they pull your stomach out of. It is a bigger hole the the others, also you don't lay flat during this the semi sit you up. -
I know the feeling. I have gone from 306 preop to 275 today 20 days post op. I am feeling a little blue because I have been able to start walking, etc because of pain I had at my incision site. It is better but I was alitttle depressed because of it and my kids acting like my kids! My sister came for the first week and was glad when she left because she could take all the mom pressure. I can most of the time but I am a single mom with an ex that left the country, so things can sometimes be hard.

Vena Cava Filter, did you decide against it?
cejiogu replied to WeeWers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As a nurse if the doctor is recommending a filter I would highly take it. He is saying it is up to you because he can not force you to get it. I would get a second opinion to see if another doctor feels the same. Also I would make it a heart specialist not just your primary care doctor. Your insurance should cover it. If not demand it ! -
Still having pain at the large incision site. Can't sleep on either side is driving me crazy! I don't mind my back but when I roll to a side I wake up

cejiogu replied to kristy26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tried soft food for the first time today and vomited. Was just an egg but upset my stomach. Other foods like jello broth etc have been ok. I was done on May 1st so I thought I wasn't moving too fast. Help I would like to move towards some regular food! -

Odd question about removing the drainage tube
cejiogu replied to JRFuerst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a drain. Also my doctor did not give me a pain button! Was ok. Gave me the IV pain med I want every hour if I wanted it and IV Tylenol every 6 hours. It worked well because I had a bad sinus headache in the hospital. -

May Sleevers! Almost there!
cejiogu replied to denniseortiz09's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only 2days to d day. Start clear liquids in am. Will be on table and cutting at 0730 pts on weds. Sister is coming on Thursday frim Boston for a week. My 20 year old son will hold down the fort with the 14 and 12year old. Biggest worry is my 14year old is autistic . He will be ok but I still worry. I know I am doing the right thing and if god did not want me to have this the insurance would not have come through. I wish my best friend could be here. She and I talked about this, but last year she lost her battle with cancer. She was only 46 and we had been best friends since 14. I know she is looking over me from the other side but I wish she was still here with us. I will be k and this will change my life in a great way for all the right reasons! So I can live longer and take care of my kid. Also to see my other two do great things no matter what passion they choose to go after! I love them all plus my sister mother aunt and other close friends!, also for my faith group this week is Holy Week and Easter on say/Sunday am. I will not be able to go so here is an early CHRIST HAS RISEN, TRULY HE HAS RISEN. (See greek or russian orthodox Christianity in google) hang in there one and all! -
Where the May sleevers i just got my date!
cejiogu replied to Luvlvnlyfe5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going in may 1st. Scared and happy at same time. More worried about kids at home for 36 hours without me. My sister is coming in day after surgery. I have 20 year old who is good at keeping things going but my 14 year old son autism and can be a hand full sometimes. Also 12 year old son has been scared a little of me going into hospital. Is ok if I work there just not stay there! I am a labor and delivery nurse. I am looking forward to it all just not recovery. I have been mourning food a little but not as much I thought. Went shopping for food yesterday and was ok. Only wanted to cheat when kids had pizza for dinner. I don't care about the crust I just wanted the cheese. Had to have a spot of real food yesterday. Went to work for skill lab I though I would only be 2 hours was there 4 started to feel low blood sugar like I was going to pass out. Got an egg from the cafe. Was better after. Still did liquids in pm and this morning. Will not kill myself over this. Only 6 more days! -
May 2013 Sleevers!
cejiogu replied to boomarienewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lived in Boston for 16years. Went I college and grad school there. Also had my 3boys there. The first was at BWH. It is a great place to go. If you can you may want to park out In one of the neighborhoods like JP or west Roxbury and take the T into the hospital . Will cost you a lot less. Or have your people try to park down park drive and walk the few blocks to the hospital. I use to go to a small russian Orthodox Church and you sometimes can park there for free. It is on park drive across from Simmons college on the Fenway. Also remember if there is a Red Sox game give yourself an extra 30 mins plus to get into the area. Traffic can be crazy. Good luck! -
May 2013 Sleevers!
cejiogu replied to boomarienewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi people. I am scheduled for May 1st. Happy and scared at the same time. Told work I was going out but only told 2of my co-workers why. Other people I may tell 6 months from now. I have final appt with md tomorrow . Is a family visit so I have to bring my mom. She will on a cruise to Hawaii when I have the surgery but my sister is coming for the week. I also have a tweny year old son and 12year old that will help me and their 14year old brother with autism. I don't have a husband. He left 6 years ago after 16 years of marriage. I am finally in a space to have the surgery to help me reclaim my life and myself. I am an RN in life and I want to be able to work longer. Also I need to stay around for the 14year old. But mostly I am being selfish in a good way and taking back the power in my life. To be the real me again. I like who I am now but I know I need help to live life to a fuller and deeper level. I don't want to hide behind this wall of flesh any more. I want people to see the real me not just the outside wrapper I have now. Sorry I am rambling... I want the day to come and to start using the new tools that this surgery will give me! In the name of the higher power of your choice ( I am Greek Orthodox so it's JC for me.) I pray that everything will go well and that I can start to build the live I know is out there for myself and my kids! Rock on may sleevers! We a going to take on the world and make it better! We are worth it a a million plus one. Go May go May Go may! -
Got surgery date May 1i am glad and scared at the same time!
