I have always been an outgoing person. In childhood I was involved in as many activities that my little schedule would allow. I was always a bigger girl, but not too much out of control. I started having different health problems pop up here and there, but I refused to attribute them to my weight. In the past several years I haven't been as active, but still social, and steady increasing in weight. About 2 years ago I was having heavy pains in my chest. After much testing it was discovered a have a hiatal hernia. They can be harmless, but of course not in my case. I went and saw a surgeon I was comfortable with (he removed my gallbladder years before). That surgeon was performing weight loss surgery in addition to general surgery by the time I had come to see him. He suggested that I have WLS to insure the hernia would be fixed and that my overall health would increase. My surgeon has seminars for his weight loss surgery and I have attended many in the past years and slipped out the side door. I knew we would all get in line to sign up for our first pre op visit and get the surgery process started. I was terrified and felt I wasn't ready. The last time was different. I still snuck out at the end...but I called and set up my appt. From then on I was dedicated and set my lifestyle up as such.
