surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

Don't be scared about the surgery... Trust me what she's going through is a rare occurrence. Many of us have had this surgery with no complications. I being one of them. It is surgery and not to be taken lightly, however, don't go into the surgery thinking that what she's going through is gonna happen to you. You'll do fine. Pray over the dr and all involved in the surgery, then move forward.
  3. Thanks everyone!!! I just had to be sure I wasn't alone in this...
  4. I have a question. I had surgery on 1/8/13 and have been progressing very well. I eat/drink fine and for the most part a lof of the surgical pain has subsided, not taking pain meds now... However, I still can't bend completely over as this does cause extreme pain, like my stomach is tearing in half followed by a burning sensation. I still need help when putting on shoes that lace up. And climbing into my truck is a little hard also as it pulls again... If I touch my stomach it just feels like a general, uncomfortable, tingly sensation near my largest incision where the stomach was removed... Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?
  5. Yes that's exactly where it is!!!
  6. I personally like Atkins... I only drink vanilla and very berry. But others like the chocolate too... I'm just not big on Chocolate dairy items, like pudding, milk, or ice cream.
  7. I'm only 3 weeks out but my soft food stage included lean deli meats (chicken, turkey, roast beef) low fat cheese, atkins protein shakes, mashed potatoes, soups, tuna with a hard boiled egg, and scrambled eggs, grits... the only fruit I had was 100% fruit juice no sugar added diluted half way with water. Get your proteins in and watch the sugar content of your juices as juice can have a lot of sugar...
  8. I'm with Dean... I had surgery 3 weeks ago today and my incisions never looked like that.... I don't think it's an infection as they would typically have pain associated with it. But it does looks like an allergy to something. I'd try to see the dr. sooner

surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

The aftermath of the surgery itself is painful. But the results of the surgery makes it worth it. I didn't realize I'd be in the amount of pain I was in either but I'm 10 days post op today and a whole lot better. There's still a little discomfort but I've had no complications thus far and I'm very excited I had the surgery. You'll do fine!!! And if your tolerance for pain is better than mine then you'll really come out on top

HELP! I feel like I'm cheating!

See my doctor said I can do 3-4 unsalted crackers soaked in soup first. So I'm not really sure if dry is ok. I would assume that if it goes down fine you're ok but I'd advise talking to the doctor or nutritionist to be sure.

HELP! I feel like I'm cheating!

I am focusing more on the protein I simply listed what was allowed. I did have grits but only got through about half of a 1/4 cup of that since I ate the eggs first. Lunch was all protein and dinner will be mostly protein with creamed broccoli. But thanks everybody!!! I feel a little better :-)

surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

Congratulation!!! I just had my surgery last Tuesday, Jan. 8th. Good luck and I hope all goes well :-)
  13. So I just had surgery on this past Tuesday, 1/8/13. I'm in so much pain from the surgery. How soon did the pain subside following your procedure? I'm a big baby when it comes to pain so this is really taking a lot out of me... What helped ease the pain aside from the meds?

    Oh the pain!

@ Linda Guckin, you are so funny!!! Yeah laying down is best to relieve pain but I can't lay around all day, lol. I'm so afraid of the blood clot thing plus walking helps me move any gas along and out. But good luck to you too!!! @ Luckystar12 I think you said it best... I didn't realize my abs were used so much until this surgery lol! And yes once the pain subsides I think we'll be unstoppable as I'm having no other complications, thank God!!! Good luck to all the sleevers who've responded so far. Each of you are great!!!

    Oh the pain!

@ Ready4anume I haven't had the chest pain since day 2, after I started walking more to get rid of the gas pain. I think they pulled my stomach out on the left so that's where I'm hurting most. But try walking to get rid of chest pain, I was told by my nurses it was trapped gas. Hopefully that helps!!!

    Oh the pain!

Thanks everbody!!! For the most part the gas pain has subsided, it's just the incision pain I'm dealing with. Sitting and getting back up is what's troublesome. Congrats TD41!!! Hopefully I have large losses as well And I'm gonna try the heating pad to see if that helps me as well...
