From a medical point of view it's important to know you have a history of obesity, regardless of current weight. The diameter of your veins is larger, and you are more likely to have joint damage etc. Plus abdominal surgery can cause internal scarring adhesions etc.

Has any one had discomfort when rinking cold water
Mrs Havelock replied to millies25412's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's to do with the surface tension of the plain water. Adding a little cordial should help. I still have trouble with water nausea 4 years post op. Sent from my HTC U11 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Anyone from Canada?
Mrs Havelock replied to shanuska's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Perhaps because you didn't ask him? PS. I'd advise you to rein in the attitude. There's plenty of support here for polite posters. -

Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story
Mrs Havelock replied to jasminem89's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon suggested bypass, but having done my own research I chose the sleeve. It's a joint decision between their medical expertise and your personal desire. You'll be living with the effects for the rest of your life, not them. -
You might find tomato juice to be too acidic.

Has anyone lost weight without exercise
Mrs Havelock replied to aNewLife14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't done any formal exercise in the last year. I will begin soon, to improve my general health and fitness, but it doesn't seem to have affected my weight loss. -
Could vitamins be making me nauseous
Mrs Havelock replied to shelly75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does it have iron in it? That's likely to be the culprit. Taking multivitamins and minerals on an empty stomach were the only things that made me vomit in my first year. -
Does anybody eat bread?
Mrs Havelock replied to alwaysonadiet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One slice of toast and marmite and I am pleasantly full. Not one more bite, though, or it is extremely uncomfortable! -
Drinking water and throwing up
Mrs Havelock replied to fatinthehead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's to do with the surface tension of plain water - it's common for people to have difficulty with it. Try adding some fruit flavour cordial to combat the water nausea. -
Is anyone over 400lbs that has been sleeved
Mrs Havelock replied to angie0187's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
372lbs and was only heading higher. Big difference in a year! -
Overeating before surgery
Mrs Havelock replied to yasmineSF's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A year post op and there is no food I can't eat. It's all in the quantity. -
I have been on 200mg daily of Zoloft for the past several years. They worked well for me, but since my sleeve I stopped taking them due to nausea issues. It's been a year and I may look at resuming them soon. It wasn't horrendous coming off them. Don't take them on an empty stomach!

Continued loss after one year?
Mrs Havelock replied to squeaker31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've just passed my one year anniversary and I'm still losing weight. Much slower, of course, but in a controlled fashion. I see no reason why this won't continue for as long as I choose. -
sleeve post op sore throat
Mrs Havelock replied to ninan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your sore throat may be from the intubation during surgery. Regarding drinking, try warm liquids rather than cold, and straight Water can be difficult after surgery. Take tiny sips frequently. Staying hydrated is a full time job at this point! Congrats on your surgery, this really is the hardest part, so be kind to yourself x -
Question for veterans re: IBS/diverticulitis/osis
Mrs Havelock replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ditto, no difference to my IBS. -
I slept on my side the first night after surgery. Lots of propping up pillows made me comfortable. Once home I slept leaning against the wall and with a body pillow. I cannot sleep on my back at all!

Thank you both. I feel better, but I have silly hair at the moment! This is a wonderful journey we're on ???? -
4 weeks post op and i've only lost 12lbs
Mrs Havelock replied to ejjohn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
April 14th was three weeks ago, and you probably have had the infamous stall, so ... you've lost nearly a stone in two weeks. Way to go you! Onwards and downwards! -
A fruit smoothie is very high in sugar and would have gone straight through your stomach to your intestines, potentially causing dumping syndrome. Try something much less sweet.

Anyone with migraines
Mrs Havelock replied to Georgia Pritchett's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My migraines intensified in severity and frequency post-op. From two a month to three a week. When one gave me total numbness down one arm and in my throat (very scary) I went to the doctor and got a prescription, which has helped somewhat. As low blood sugar is a trigger there's not a whole lot else I can do. Sympathy to all fellow sufferers. -
5+ Week Stall - Extremely Frustrated HELP!
Mrs Havelock replied to m@ry's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Why are you not eating fruits and vegetables? -
I believe your BMI is around 27, therefore overweight not obese.
