Are you going to the hospital alone?
Mrs Havelock replied to FindingElise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was coming round from the anaesthetic and in and out of consciousness, my husband held my hand. The human contact was the most comforting sensation I have ever felt. -

It's also to do with your stomach's nerves being severed during surgery. The resulting numbness can temporarily disguise how full you are. -
do you wear anything on the surgery table
Mrs Havelock replied to ********'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in with paper knickers on and came out 'sans'. I'd love to know who removed them, when and why. My husband says the surgeon probably has a collection of them! -

Water?
Mrs Havelock replied to Craving2BaHealthyMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surface tension of plain water is high, which can be difficult for your stomach to manage. Putting a few drops of squash, or fruit juice or crystal light etc. reduces the surface tension and makes it easier to stomach. -
Is this normal? Help!
Mrs Havelock replied to hayleyx33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sore throat could also be due to the bougie that was put down your throat. It sounds like your pain is not being managed at the moment - you should get back on to your doctor asap. -
Only down 1 lb. 4 days post-op. Am I going to be a slow loser?
Mrs Havelock replied to CocoCocoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll still be losing water weight from the IV fluids you got in hospital. Some people find themselves 10lbs+ heavier post surgery. It will come off very quickly, don't worry -

Mrs Havelock replied to shays4265's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Use a teaspoon to eat. Really chew and savour the taste of the food. As the previous poster said, post surgery you will have an in-built inability to eat too much or too quickly. Don't worry about it. -

Chewable vitamins forever?
Mrs Havelock replied to CoreyCan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said normal vitamin tablets are okay after 3 weeks. I like my chewy ones -they're strawberry flavour and the only things I get to chew during this puree stage! -
The best response to an unwanted 'I'll pray for you' is 'Thanks, I'll think for you!'

I am on my third day post-op. Not for a second do I want to go back to pre- or no-op! This was my choice, the right choice and now I am getting on with doing what needs to be done. Onwards to a happier, healthier life! You will be fine. If you've made the decision and you're commited to making the lifestyle changes then enjoy the ride - it'll be a blast

Video of Dr. Fernando Garcia Performing Sleeve Gastrectomy
Mrs Havelock replied to Liz210's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I saw a documentary about surgery and the surgeon said the mask was for their protection, not ours. Blood spray etc. is more likely to enter their mouth than nose.
