    Restriction Question for the Long-Timers

The handful of times I vomited in the last year was due to taking vitamin tablets on an empty stomach, or by eating a couple of bites past fullness. I don't think vomiting or sliming should be seen as 'normal' but more a sign of a problem - either with someone's eating choices or their sleeve.

    sick of 'IS THIS NORMAL'

I saw a post on a different site, asking how we lose the fat. She thought we peed it out. Not enough faces and palms in the world.
  3. I avoided it by not weighing until week 4. Magic solution ????

    Positive for Nicotine

I'm curious - did you deliberately sabotage your operation? I'm just surprised, since you had given up for so long, and then to do the one thing that would put it in jeopardy is telling. Do you really feel ready for the changes that VSG will bring?

    Post Op Scars

Nothing, just basic hygiene. I took the dressings off after two days due to allergy and I removed the staples myself after 10 days, 'cos I'm weird!

    Post Op Scars

A year out and mine are barely visible - even the extraction one.

    What is your Pre-op Dirt?

Two weeks of just milk and yoghurt. I was mooing by the day of surgery!

If i could turn back time...

Er, in American English I think it's fruit cordial!

Oh, and that's not 'dumping syndrome' that's eating something entirely inappropriate for your stage of healing. Educate yourself quickly.

I am aghast. Have you not received a food plan for post op? Clear liquids, full liquids, runny, mushy etc. Over several weeks. You run the risk of a serious complication up to and including death. Please, please read and learn before you do any further damage to yourself.

If i could turn back time...

I couldn't drink straight water for a long time after surgery - something to do with its surface tension. Put a few drops of fruit squash in it to relieve the water nausea.

    What's Your Body Image? Poll

Hourglass still (thank goodness, thought my boobs might disappear!)

    Restriction Question for the Long-Timers

I periodically check my restriction with the gulp test - how many gulps of liquid before I feel restriction. One year out (waves to fellow veterans!) and I still can't do more than three. I miss knocking back my pints (of water)

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It is a bit unbelievable - even for me! No secret methods, just have eaten well for the past year. I really should start doing some exercise soon (beyond normal walking) My start weight was at the beginning of a two week milk/yoghurt pre-op diet, all the rest was lost afterwards. I don't know my surgery day weight due to being too terrified! Congratulations to all successful sleevers, and good luck to those just starting out x

    Fantastic stuff!

Very personal, loose skin around my vag.

Don't rush into plastic surgery - you'll be surprised how things firm up over time. My skin tightened and I kept thinking I must be gaining weight and filling back out, but a quick check of the scales dismissed that. The human body is an amazing thing - constantly changing and adapting to the things we do to it over time! Do you have a regular sexual partner? How old are you? All these things will affect your body and mind. Well done with the weight loss and stop obsessing about your changing body! Give it (and yourself) a break!
  17. You sound like you have an awful lot of pressure, be kind to yourself and don't worry about being hungry. Eat dense protein such as tuna and drink plenty (not at the same time!) and stay off the scale except for once a week. You'll drive yourself mad otherwise.
  18. I had massive hair loss so just chopped it all off and wore a bandana for a while. The new growth is coming back through now so I'm happy. It's a small price to pay for losing so much weight.
  19. Sorry to say coffee is one of my no-no drinks now. Every so often a very weak decaf is tolerated. I still love the smell of a good strong brew, though so have to settle for that.

    Just not hungry

The milk will be solidifying in your stomach and filling you up. Your appetite will return if you leave room for other, more nutritionally wholesome food.

    Very light headed and dizzy

Google postural hypotension. I went through a few months when every time I stood too quickly I almost went headfirst into the wall (much to my husband's amusement!)

    10 days post op...female problems

Also make sure you're drinking plenty for the BM situation. It really helps.
  23. A year out and I still struggle with the physical changes. I think I won't fit into a chair, buy clothes that are way too big and wonder who the thin person walking next to my husband in reflections is!

    Hungry all day

Just before my period it's as if I don't have a sleeve! Just want to eat all day. Luckily it's only one day a month or I'd be regaining ????
  25. I was obsessed with watching food programmes for a long time - the gooier the better! Am over that now and the thought of food no longer consumes me. Your body is going through huge changes and it takes a long time for the mind to catch up. Good luck x
