Takingcontrol replied to BANANA PANTS!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! Congratulations! I can't wait to join you in Onderland....I'm close...I can SEE it, & it's beautiful!! Just...can't...quiet...reach...it!! :-/ -
Wow! We have almost the same stats! I am very fortunate that I DO have a loving spouse who is amazing! But, I can relate to your feelings. I had a very dysfunctional childhood & have a great deal of problems with self esteem issues! I felt...hell, still feel to some degree that I am not & never will be good enough! It's hard undoing what was learned. My husband & children are awesome & without them I would prob be a mess! I can only say you can only find true love & acceptance by first loving & accepting yourself, & the first step is realizing you DESERVE better! You deserve respect & someone who will appreciate you! I'm not saying divorce, that's for you to decide...but if he's not willing to go to counseling himself & try & work on your problems...then you really haven't other choice if you want to be happy & live your life!

dumping syndrome
Takingcontrol replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any problem with that..but my Sis-n-law who had the bypass does. My experience with the sleeve is more constipation issues instead of dumping! But that can be easily managed. -
I'm in Texas...I can't find them at Kroger or HEB! They looked at me like I'm crazy when I asked! :-(

Yep, I took 8 stuffed trash bags of clothes to a friend who had WLS last summer, but was larger than me to begin with! Nice to pass them to someone who can use them! -

anyone's family waiting for them to fail?
Takingcontrol replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a nurse too, & know the complications & I'm right here with you! I weighed the pros & cons & it was worth the risk to become healthy & spend more time with my hubby, children & grandchildren! Teach her by example! -
Returning to work?
Takingcontrol replied to nakole73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a my gallbladder removed by lap & a lap tubal & a cyst removed by lap...& all three of those surgeries were WAY more painful & required more recovery time than my sleeve. I was pleasantly surprised!! -
Returning to work?
Takingcontrol replied to nakole73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although, I felt like I could....if at all possible I would take some time off just to be safe! I was lucky & had no problems, I did get tired easily....but other then that I was fine. But if you can take some time off, it will allow you time to adjust to your new way of eating/drinking! Good luck! -
No weight loss-- why?
Takingcontrol replied to Misty_eyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ShrinkyDinkMe22 is right, a lb is a lb...what I meant was in comparison to size! Your replacing bulky fat with lean muscle...which is prob why you are getting smaller, but weigh the same. -
Do previous weight loss attempts HAVE to be documented?
Takingcontrol replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to have 2 yrs of documentation of weight. So, 2 yrs of dr's visits with my weight documented. I didn't have to have proof of weight loss attempts..I just listed them like you did. Every insurance is different though....so like Vixynn said, best to call & get it straight from them! -
So, is soda a no-no because it causes pain or complications?
Takingcontrol replied to marfar7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon says its OK, as long as it doesn't cause pain...& it doesn't! But I have broken the habit...so have only had 1/2 of one twice since Dec. it all depends on you & your dr....every dr has different rules! -

Confused. Can we or cant we..?
Takingcontrol replied to mrsreyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree! Although I know there is nothing I can "never" have again....I have also made a commitment to a healthier lifestyle! I refuse to go back to the fast food eating junk food junkie that I was before! I have a tool....& I'm using it wisely! I am pretty much staying on target, I have had a bite or two of things on special occasions...but I add it to MFP & accept responsibility for it! I plan to stay very strict until I reach my goal, then I will prob be a little more lax & allow myself a treat every so often....but I plan to eat the healthy way I've been doing from now on...more protein & less carbs! -
No weight loss-- why?
Takingcontrol replied to Misty_eyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like although you are burning fat, you are building muscle...which weighs more then fat! That's a good thing, muscle helps you burn fat! The scale will catch up...just keep going & don't get frustrated! -
Confused. Can we or cant we..?
Takingcontrol replied to mrsreyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon also told me that there was not anything that I could Never have again. He also said there were prob going to be things that didn't agree with me, or that I would find I no longer wanted. I am 4 months out & the only thing so far that doesn't agree with me is raw onions! I HAVE had a diet coke or 2 (haven't finished them, but drank prob 1/2) with no problem. My surgeon's view it...try it, if it hurts or makes you sick...don't do it again! Works for me!
