so glad I don't have to do a liquid diet pre op
Takingcontrol replied to Malexa03's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't have to do the pre-op liquid diet either, nor did I have to lose before surgery...hell, I even gained a few lbs! I honestly don't think I could've done it either!:-/ -
was I even sleeved?
Takingcontrol replied to michelleooo513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same way...almost called my surgeon to ask if he Really sleeved me! I can eat anything...just smaller portions. I was also cleared for reg food at 2 wks. I lose a little slower than some..but I'm ok with that...as long as I lose! -

WHAT TO EXPECT PAIN WISE AFTER SURGERY?PLZ INFORM ME..
Takingcontrol replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
They put gas in to help raise your skin & move things around, most escapes when they remove the instruments...but some residual is left. It eventually has to escape, that's why u need to be up walking ASAP. After surgery...moving will help you release the gas. I had very little surgical pain from the surgery itself & was fortunate to have minimal gas pain as well. But I will say Gas-Ex strips are my friend! Good luck! -
I was also allowed food week 2 & Told I should eat my protein, not drink it!

Can't Decide! So confused!
Takingcontrol replied to kingleah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm slow...but steady! & I will take it! I am actually losing at the same rate as my Sis-n-law who was my same BMI & weight & had the Bypass a yr ago! She WISHES now that she'd had the sleeve! She has bad dumping syndrome & malabsorption issues! -
French fry purgetory
Takingcontrol replied to SuchaPrettyFaceBUT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are so right! I see people eat food now & I think "wow, I could never eat all that" then I smile...cause I LOVE it!! -
Wow, you have stepped on a land mine with this one! There are some VERY opinionated people on this topic! I also decided to not tell my employer, nor anyone else (except family) about my procedure! I have a coworker who had the band, & I hear people watching & scrutinizing her weight loss/or lack of...all the time! So I decided to not give them anything else to talk about! It's my business, & mine alone! Now, when people comment on my weight loss I tell them I'm eating high protein, small frequent meals, & water...which is all true! As far as work needing anything, they may need a medical release since you already said your having surgery...but just explain to your dr & he will just put abdominal surgery! Good luck on your journey!

Crap... worried and disappointed
Takingcontrol replied to Miss Piggy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Aetna & had no comorbitites! I did have to appeal & wrote a letter like your talking about! I also listed my family history which is Very high in diabetes, hypertension, & heart disease! I also pointed out the fact that high triglycerides & cholesterol are indeed considered cardiac disorders! I was approved within a week! -
I guess I'm a little different than everyone else.
Takingcontrol replied to kbby's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm right there with you! Sleeved 12/17 & I am tired too! I do get my protein & water, not so great with the exercise, but try to do 30 min 5x week. I think it's just our bodies adjusting to the low calories. -

Does everyone have a pre-op liquid diet?
Takingcontrol replied to chell1978's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not every doctor requires it, mine didn't. But you will have to check with yours to see. -

Triggered by a tattoo
Takingcontrol replied to cyncitygirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Both my girls are beautiful, professional women & great mothers...& they both have tattoos! They are hidden most of the time...but are there & can be seen when they wish. They also both know how I feel about tattoos, HATE them! But, with that said...they are grown women & can do as they see fit! This, nor ANYTHING else they could ever do, will change my love for them!! You mom is you mom...& hopefully she will come around soon. -
Fast Food Break Through!
Takingcontrol replied to MsLissa12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am looking forward to this stage! I have been able to resist more easily...maybe just one bite & want no more. But fries still smell yummy to me! :-( -
Boot Camp anyone?
Takingcontrol replied to stomlin75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not workout (still need to get control of that) but I lost 2 1/2 lbs, not 4 like Stomlin75 -
Prayers for your entire family!

Would you have paid without insurance coverage?
Takingcontrol replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Houston17, that might be an option! If you do have a hernia...insurance will pay to have that repaired...then you may be able to just pay the extra for the sleeve! The hospital, anesthesia & actual main surgery should be covered -
Hiatal Hernia?
Takingcontrol replied to DestinyIsWaiting's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many overweight people have hernias, I did too! They dr just repairs it during surgery...no problem. You will have another incision, but think of it as 2 surgeries for 1! -
I too have tried every diet known to man, lost....then gained the weight + more! What's different with the sleeve...it's a tool! I makes portion control a "no brainer" I couldn't pig out if I wanted too! It also helps with the hunger issue...I do get hungry & eat every 3-4 hrs, but very small potions...which I had difficulty with pre-sleeve. I'm still fairly new, sleeved middle of Dec. & still learning about my new best friend. But this has been the best decision of my life!

Takingcontrol replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Already cooked turkey breast...just slice & eat cold...or heat up. Turkey patties, roasted chicken, tuna. -
My hubby ordered them too....when I got home today they were on my doorstep! AUGH!! I'm on the final day of bootcamp so that was enough to keep my from digging in, & I told him he better take them to work with him in the a.m.!!
