HOW is eating different post sleeve - don't you miss it?
butterfly_gal replied to lovelyme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a year and a half post op. The first six months were easy. No hunger and the weight melted off. After six months it got much harder. I feel hunger and weight loss slowed drastically. I still love my sleeve and wouldn't change a thing. It has never been a big issue at holidays or when I am out with friends. It's all about making good choices and not over eating. When i go to restaurants I always have a to go container brought and have several meals left to enjoy later. My surgery isn't even a topic because all my friends and family know and is not even a big deal anymore, it is a way of life. I am one that still weighs their food when I can. I can generally do 4oz of food. I am down 119 pounds with 40 more to go. It is going to be a challenge, but it will be gone! Good luck to you all! -
Question for people over 12 mths
butterfly_gal replied to Unhappysleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 15 months out and can still eat 3-4 ounces and be satisfied. To be honest, I haven't really tried to go over that. -
I was totally going to post the same thing! Some people feed on drama. Posts like that are yet another reason why I haven't checked this site in months.

when is it too much protein?
butterfly_gal replied to Chelsi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your meal plan look like? I can't wrap my head around 100 G protein at 600 calories. -
Bread/pasta question

Curious about riceless rolls. Can you explain or describe? Thanks -
Constipation
butterfly_gal replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had major issues with constipation. I take a probiotic and I have not had a problem since. If I miss my dose, I can definitely tell. I become bloaty and constipated. -
pulled something in left side incision
butterfly_gal replied to Sarahjane79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same pain a few weeks out. My doctor told me it was normal. Muscles and nerves growing back together. It went away in under a week. But... Only you know your body and if the pain is something horrible, call the doctor -
All these complications...is it worth it?
butterfly_gal replied to Flutterfly19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a few weeks shy of a year. 30 pounds away from goal (down 110 pounds). I have not have major complications. Hair loss, sure but it has stopped and hair is growing back. I don't get sick and throw up all the time because I know when to stop eating. Overall I would say so far my benefits outweigh any negatives ten fold. The way I was, I probably wouldn't have lived ten more years! -
Curious to what problems it would cause to a healed stomach. Did the clarify? My nut and doctor allow it after 4 months. I have air popped popcorn several times a week. No issues.

Lettuce? Any problems? How Long?
butterfly_gal replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost a year out and only started eating salad a few months ago. Only reason was because before surgery, I always had issues (cramping, runs etc) much to my surprise I no long have issue! I am so excited because I love salads but would always skip them to avoid issues. I now have a romaine lettuce salad with some chicken and yogurt Caesar dressing every day for lunch. -

What foods are highest in protein?
butterfly_gal replied to atlchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shrimp is a great food. Very high protein and goes down very easily for me. Cheese is good too. -
Super afraid of a leak! No symptoms, just paranoid of the risk.
butterfly_gal replied to lapnicky's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Though it can happen, the chances are slim. Relax and focus on your recovery. Welcome to the club and good luck! -

Pouch problems any one?
butterfly_gal replied to MelindaBaltimore29's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Are you sure it's pouch and not gall bladder? My friend had similar symptoms (she is non bariatric) and it was her gall bladder. Sometimes gall bladder pain is mistaken for other things. -
I am seriously feeling defeated and sad. My beautiful mother has found out that she has end stage liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant. Science is amazing and there is a way that a living donor, such as myself, can donate a portion of my healthy liver to save her life. Out of her three children, I am the only one with matching blood type. I was devastated to be told I could not donate to her due to my surgery. I asked them why, I am a healthy person, no meds for anything anymore. They would only say it was because it is not in the best interest of my health. I feel so bad and guilty, I wish I could do this! I am going to get a second opinion for sure.

I had issues as well until I added vegetables and fruit. I also take a daily probiotic that helps. Good luck, I know how uncomfortable it is.

Bypass or Sleeve?
butterfly_gal replied to pupichupi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have the sleeve and as of today have lost 105 pound in 9 months. I am very happy with my decision. I have not a single complication and can eat any food with no problems. Good luck in your decision and you step forward to a healthier life -
Can you still eat in restaurants?
butterfly_gal replied to 2ndChanceHeth's topic in Food and Nutrition
If you are expecting your surgery to make you not be able to eat certain things, you might want to get the bypass. It seems that GS does not provide those limitations to a large majority of people as bypass does. It will make your stomach smaller but it won't fix eating disorders or a persons head. -
Grocery bill since surgery?

Here's something I hadn't considered
butterfly_gal replied to Teachamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It amazes me how different plans are. On my plan soup is ok, chili is ok. No drinking during meals, but a sip is not gonna kill you if you have to due to dry food or spice. I have only had to take a sip while eating a few times, and don't do it unless my mouth is on fire lol. I have not had a single complication and have lost 110 pounds in almost 10 months. -
I had this happen several times a couple months post op. As long as I take my daily Prilosec it doesn't happen any more. Good luck with it, I know how uncomfortable it is.

I can do plain water, but it is super boring. I am a chai tea addict. I have about 3 cups a day. A dash of almond milk and sugar free cinnamon brown sugar syrup, it is divine!

*Gastric sleeve diet* (without surgery)
butterfly_gal replied to Maccurdyerica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wish it were that easy. No disrespect intended, just being honest. -

butterfly_gal replied to donaboss's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Awesome! Congrats! I had to pay my deductible before surgery if that helps you any.
