Is vomiting going to be the new normal?
butterfly_gal replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Six weeks out and have not vomited once. -
Does anyone have any suggestions of what essential oil is best for firming skin? I've been reading both jojoba and almond are great for skin. I currently use coconut on my face and love it. I am starting to see sagging and I'm worried that working out isn't going to help enough and my insurance doesn't cover plastics.
-
Normal. I had watery stools too. Liquid in liquid out. But always call your doctor if you feel something isn't right. Good luck to you in your journey.
-
Oh no! I hope all works out. Are you on liquid pre-op or post-op? Get better soon!

butterfly_gal replied to nakole73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I'm not sure. I think back and never would of been ready. I had an pretty easy recovery too. I would encourage at least a week. That's my opinion. -
Refried beans are a latin dish. It is cooked pinto, black or really any type of bean and they're mushed/smashed/pureed type consistancy. I love refried black beans the best. Enjoy!

Seat belt extenders on plane
butterfly_gal replied to serenity1959's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have had to use an extender many times over the years. I always fly spirit. I purchased my own extender for $25 on eBay and have never had an issue using it. I carry it on in my purse and just put it on. No flight attendant who has seen me has ever said a peep. -
So in June I will be going on vacation. Being only a week and a half out now, it seems like all my snacks (yogurt, jello etc) all have to be refrigerated. On vacation I will not have access to a refrigerator all the time and would like to find some snacks that I can tote with me. Any ideas? I like the idea of cheese, but good luck finding cheese that doesn't need to be refrigerated. Any suggestions?

I've been thinking about this topic. I too was told that GSV does not cause dumping. What are your thoughts of people who get the dumping effect really have something to do with the gall bladder? The symptoms are kind of similar and are caused by fatty or high sugar foods? Just a thought.

Pain after 3 and a half weeks
butterfly_gal replied to Colemon70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the exact pain on my right side 3 weeks out. It lasted almost exactly a week. I was told by my doctor is was the muscles & nerves healing. -
So my birthday was a few days after my surgery so I never got to really celebrate or anything, so I decided to treat myself to a gift. I didn't want to buy clothes just because I know I won't be able to wear it long, so I decided on an awesome pair of shoes. Here they are. I love them.

Oh no! I never even thought about shrinking feet. Oh well, I'll enjoy them while I can

HELP! why can't I eat and drink more, I'm so weak!
butterfly_gal replied to skinnyplze's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely you should see your doctor. I was sleeved on 3/19 and feel good. I am on pureed foods and seem to be doing good on them. I am so sorry that you're having issues My thoughts are with you. I too, have an issue getting in my full water quota though. I try my hardest. Have you had blood work lately? I know that I am anemic and I get pooped easily. I am actually going to be going in for iron infusions within the next few weeks. You should check your blood work to make sure you're not deficient in anything. -
Constipation
butterfly_gal replied to labellaskorpio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it is horrible. I understand your pain! Another bit of advice that I read and helped me is when you're on the toilet, elevate your feet so you're more in a squating postion. I tipped my empty garbage can on its side, put my feet up there and it helped alot. I read that by being in a more squating position it aligns your body to more easily eliminate. Good luck, hope it all comes out okay -
Constipation
butterfly_gal replied to labellaskorpio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was horribly constipated until yesterday. I took 4 colace over a period of two days and finally, after hours trying and what I describe as giving birth, that ordeal is over. It wad horrible! -
I got mine within a day after leaving the hospital. I am due now, feeling the symptoms but nothing yet. I'm a couple days late. I'm a month out.
-
I was sleeved 3/19 as well by on pureed till the end of the month. Can't wait to get to solids!
-
I am 4 weeks out and had that exact thing all last week. It started feeling better yesterday. I called my Dr and they said I probably pulled a muscle. Even though it is feeling better, i am going to baby it for a while... Hope yours gets better soon!

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
butterfly_gal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be one of the 1 or 2% of people who have major issue. I am so sorry that it is a part of your life now. I do have to say this though. Maybe it's irrelevant, maybe it is not. I lost a brother in a car accident. I miss him dearly. Do I blame cars for his death? No. It was a freak accident that unfortunately happened to him. Blaming what happened to you on VSG is like me blaming cars for his death. More like a "wrong place wrong time" or freak accident. VSG is a "vehicle" to help people. Not every outcome is going to be perfect, but overall it is a positive thing for people who otherwise would have a dim future. Just my opinion. -
