I was dizzy all the time, but I had iron deficiency anemia. I am getting weekly iron infusions, and it's been helping. Good luck, I hope you figure it out.

are these sounds normal?
butterfly_gal replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. It will gurgle for a while. Mine still does and I am 2 months out. Congrats to you as well! -
I am two months out. I think that maybe I am not getting enough calories. I have not lost anything in about 2 weeks. Right now I am eating between 700-800 calories a day. My NUT wants me at 1000. The problem is I feel like I am always eating even at 700-800 calories, I can't imagine 1000. I don't want to go into starvation mode, if I haven't already. I am lucky and have been able to eat pretty much everything I have tried. Also, I know I don't drink enough water, but I am working on that. Any advice on how to get some extra calories in?

Have to go to hemotologist great! HOW MUCH LONGER?
butterfly_gal replied to beachsleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I am two months out. My hemo was 9 at time of surgery, but my surgeon was ok with still going through with it. I've had two treatments already and can start telling a difference. -
do you wear anything on the surgery table
butterfly_gal replied to ********'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had a catheter. I was worried about the being naked too, but now after the fact it's such a minor thing. They've seen it all -

48 hours after my sleeve!
butterfly_gal replied to saira's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on being sleeved! Glad you're doing so well. Are the injections to prevent blood clots? I had those while I was in the hospital. -
I chose the sleeve because it seemed less drastic then bypass. Yes, I know that makes no since sice they remove a majority of you stomach, but my mother has bypass and I see how she is. She throws up all the time and I wanted something that would make me lose, but would let me still be open to be able to live life regularly. I can honestly say that I am glad I chose the sleeve. I have never once thrown up. If you listen to you body and stop eating when you're satisfied, you'll be good. I still go out to eat with friends. I actually did last night. Went to buffalo wild wings with friends. I had the naked tenders with sauce on the side. Sure, I ate just one, but it was yummy and now I have lunch for several days. Good luck with your decision. Choose what is best for you!

Mine were on for about 5 days. They fell off by themselves. I did buy waterproof bandaides for when I took a shower. -
Thank you for the advice. I will try the protein bar. Can't do shakes anymore, they make me gag. How far out were you guys when you tried nuts?
-

do i have to buy post-op diet from my NUT?
butterfly_gal replied to mydetoxnurse's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Agreed, you should not be forced to buy from your NUT. Never was I told I had to buy from her and she gave me suggestions that were more affordable. I would just tell her you can't afford it and ask for alternates. Good luck. -

Coffee anyone?
butterfly_gal replied to Prettynpink1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with slowly dropping caffeine. I did the same thing pre op. Half calf to no vaccine slowly and I didn't get the headaches or anything. I still only do decalf now too. -
Coffee anyone?
butterfly_gal replied to Prettynpink1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved to have regular coffee after 6 weeks. I have about 12 ounces of decaf iced coffee each morning. I live coffee. -
3/19 here too. Down 44 pounds. Still eating around 3 ounces of dense protein. Been in a stall for about a week, haven't lost anything. I haven't had pizza yet, don't know when I will. Good luck to you all.

Ideas for what to tell people?
butterfly_gal replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This thread has turned into a disgusting mess. It is each persons business that they had surgery. The thing with "lying" as some are calling it is that when someone doesn't openly share with a stranger that they had surgery, it doesn't matter, how is the fact that I had surgery hurting someone else? It isn't. It is as much their business as my other personal medical information. Also, implying someone is dishonest and does not value honesty because they didn't shout from the top of the Empire State Building that they had VSG is classless. -
Skin Graft from Barney or VSG?
butterfly_gal replied to rickyswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That stinks! Do you normally bruise ver easily? The only bruising I had were both my wrists were dark purple. Dr said it was probably from when they were dragging me from operating table to bed. They lasted about a weekend then were gone. -

butterfly_gal replied to beachsleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will they not approve you because of your anemia? I had surgery with a hgb of 9. Not ideal but I was fine. I'm currently getting iron infusions for another 6 weeks. Good luck to you.
