Is hetting your galbladder removed somthing everyone goes thru after surgery?
roiansmom replied to newme31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know about Gonnabe, but I didn't even notice that the gallbladder had been removed. Any pain I had was centered around the largest incision where the stomach was removed and around my bellybutton. -
There is absolutely no way that I could ingest 1200 calories a day without adding junk food/drinks There is just not enough time in the day to drink the required Fluid, get the required protien and still have time to work and sleep My surgeon/nut requirements were 64oz fluid, 60-70g Protein. Most days, I still have trouble with that, there is no way I could do more. edited to add: However, if that's working for you, don't change it

I was sleeved on 1/10 and I'm currently eating/drinking about 600 cals a day. I manage to get between 50-60g protien and TBH I don't count carbs. I stay away from starches/breads, I don't eat junk and I drink only sugar free drinks. At my 6 week check I had lost 42lbs since surgery.

Incision pain- is this normal?
roiansmom replied to bonita19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can't hurt to call the doctor. I've been told that it's normal to have pain a few weeks out, especially as things are healing. I had pain at the largest incision from the beginning. Then it got really hard and even more painful. Then my abdomen started swelling up. I finally had surgery (at 7weeks post op) to fix an incisional hernia. If it's really painful, call, explain your pain and see if it's normal. If not, you can go in and have your surgeon take a look, if it is, it will put your mind at east. -
Anyone have any experience? It seems I have an incisional hernia and am having surgery to repair it. I am not happy about this unplanned jaunt to the hospital but it hurts, so it needs to get fixed. And I'm really glad to know why my stomach has been swelling up for no reason, and why I keep having horrible pain on the right side. Anyone else have this?

Swollen/distended abdomen and right side pain
roiansmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm six weeks post op yesterday! About a week ago, I started having right side back pain in the kidney area. I had a UA and US, both came back negative for stones/infection. The pain is still there, but now it feels more muscular than it did a week ago. 2-3 days ago, I started having some muscle/pulling type stabby pains on the right side of my abdomen. Today, my belly button hurts (which is not abnormal for me ) and my upper abdomen is swollen and hard. It's not terribly painful, but it is uncomfortable. Other than that, I feel fine. Any ideas? Anyone have similar issues? I see my surgeon for follow up on Tuesday, but am wondering if anyone else had anything similar. -
Swollen/distended abdomen and right side pain
roiansmom replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called the on-call surgeon and she said as long as I can drink fluids and there's no vomiting or pain on the left side, it can wait until I see my surgeon for follow up on Tuesday. She did say that if it got painful or I couldn't drink, I should go to my local ER and have them call her. -
and it is true! Protein

I use the Celebrate caramel Calcium chews as well They are so much better than the chalky chewables. While they don't really taste like caramels, they taste enough like candy that I feel like they're a treat I order everything online because it's less expensive. I've found that the prices on Amazon are the best. My surgeons office recommends Celebrate, so they gave me a bunch of the ENS samples before I purchased. I knew I liked the chocolate best which made ordering easy. I've tried the chocolate, vanilla cake batter and strawberry and they were all good. Well, as good as powdered Protein drinks can be -

The Celebrate also scores 100. -
In the hospital. Pain management issue.
roiansmom replied to Lyrakl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never used pain meds once I left the hospital, not even tylenol. Every one is different. In the hospital, I don't remember what they gave me for pain, but it was an injection, there was no drip or anything like that. -

I used the Premier Protien (chocolate) from costco, they were pretty good. Now, I also use the Celebrate ENS chocolate powder (comes in other flavors too, the vanilla cake batter wasn't too bad if you like that). I like it because it isn't thick and heavy, has a lite chocolate taste and isn't gritty. The best part is that each 8oz drink contains 25grams of protien, 1/2 of my Vitamin and 1/3 of my Calcium requirement for the day. 2 drinks and a calcium chew and I'm set for the day...plus 50grams of Protein. It's a little pricey, but sooo worth it for me. -
Belly button pain?
roiansmom replied to NyPrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, and I want to qualify, I felt fine, I just didn't want to eat or drink, everything that I can eat sounded so unappealing and made me literally gag when I thought about them. Though things like a cheeseburger sounded divine -
Belly button pain?
roiansmom replied to NyPrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just finished up a week and a half of not wanting to eat or drink anything and nausea when I even thought about it I think that's normal also. As long as there's no pain or feeling like there is something really wrong, it's okay. The funniest thing that's happened to me so far....I worry about leaks constantly even though they are unlikely...I know that one of the symptoms is left shoulder pain and about 2 weeks ago I started freaking out because my left shoulder was hurting a lot. Finally, my husband said to me "You have had left shoulder pain for 2 years...you have psoriatic arthritis in your left shoulder...now snap out of it you hypochondrac  -
Belly button pain?
roiansmom replied to NyPrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 weeks today and still have that belly button pain. I'm noticing now that the swelling and initial pains are gone, other muscle pains are more prominent...and every pain is on the right side I've also lost 50lbs since December 1 and I think much of the pain is from adjusting the weight loss, my muscles are in shock and don't know how to react -
Another question...because I seem to have a never ending supply of them
roiansmom replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No gallbladder and it's much lower than the pain I used to get from gallbladder attacks. They used to be right under my ribs in the front and the middle of my back between my shoulder blades. This pain is in between my spine and side and wraps around to the abdomen about 2 inches above my waist. -

Let me start with saying that a leak is my biggest fear, in fact I'm almost nuerotic about it Tuesday I started having pain in my right mid back, right around where you'd expect kidney pain to be. It got progressively worse over the course of the day, so I went to urgent care that night. They did a UA that came back negative, but decided to treat for a kidney infection anyway. The pain stayed just as intense, so on Thursday I followed up with my own doc. He called the urgent care for the culture results and there is no infection. Today I went for an US and it showed no stones either. However the pain is intense and sometimes so bad it makes me nauseous. My dr thinks it's muscle pain, but it doesn't feel like that either. Anyone ever have anything like this? I have no fever, no rapid heart beat, no real issues other than this incredible pain on the right side. Please tell me I'm worried about nothing -

roiansmom replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, because I wasn't totally convinced it's not my kidney. Even if they are saying it's not I know what muscular feels like and this isn't it. The pain also radiates around my side to abdomen and nothing about it feels muscular. I still have all of the liquid hydrocodone the surgeon prescribed after surgery. I've been using that at night in order to sleep. I've just been using tylenol to get through the day because I have to work and drive and do all sorts of things that being looped on pain meds wouldn't be a good idea. -
Low dull ache where in your back? Thanks.

January Newbies ! Progress ?
roiansmom replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on 1/10 and on 1/22 was down approx 22lbs at my 2 week post-op visit, and a total of 40lbs from my first visit preop. I have no idea if I've lost anything since then, as I refuse to weigh myself at home -
How do you deal with the cravings?
roiansmom replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is entirely possible. I do miss my comfort foods. OTOH, I have always loved salads and raw veggies and I admit, I am missing them, a lot. Mostly, I'm missing having "crunch" in my diet. -

roiansmom replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had them once or twice, mostly I'm eating Soups, chicken, eggs, etc. I am a carb junkie, so craving them makes sense I just can't believe I'm craving things I don't normally like...like the spaghettios, they are gross, but I really want them I also want a pickle, some baby carrots with balsamic vinaigrette, and a chopped salad with pecans...so it's not only carbs, but they are definitely the big cravings right now -
Had surgery 2 days ago..
roiansmom replied to vmamccoy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt really nauseous for about a 5-6 days. The discomfort lessened after the first 3-5 days and then was intermittent for the next 10 days. At 3 weeks out I feel great, but still get tired easily. I'm told this is normal. -
