***WARNING*** PLEASE READ
Mimistar replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. I ended up in the ER. I was given to potassium bags via IV and a Rx for 10 days. My pcp told me the same, get some potassium in via bananas or take a supplements. Yep, another pill to take. Smh I just eat half a banana a day. -
I had sharp pain in the same please when I attempted to stand up or sit down. Once I stopped moving. It stop hurting. To try and roll over in bed was like being stabbed with a dirty knife...okay, that's too much. Anyway, I ended up at the ER because I was scared it was a leak. Turned out to be a hematoma formed on my inner stitches. Doctor gave me Tylenol and told me to rest. I was doing to much too fast. Call your doctor, it could be nothing.....it could be something. :-(

Mimistar replied to EllaJo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey y'all. I'm from New Orleans. Had surgery on May 17th. If any of you work out at Elmwood , please let me know. I could really use a work out buddy. -
For me: I drink a protein shake an hour before I got I the gym and drink water while on the treadmill. It helps a lot. Start off with a short distance. As your tolerance builds up.....you'll do better. Lets all do this together. :-) Good Luck. Hope to see you shrinking. :-)

Severe pain on right side of stomach!
Mimistar replied to kjordan83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had really bad pain on my right side for awhile. It felt better if I picked up my stomach on the right side or if I laid on my back. As crazy as that sounds. It hurt like hell when I performing the act of sitting or standing but went away when the motion was completed. Wasnt as bad as i thought. no leak...thank God. ----I had a hematoma and had pulled an internal stitch loose. Went to the ER for some pain Meds and got some rest. (My mom fussed me for trying to do too much too soon) Pain for better every day. -

Mimistar replied to patsybrown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please Please go back. I waited and it was a mistake. By the time I want back, it was soooo bad that they had trouble finding my veins. 9 sticks later and a neonate specialist with tiny needles later..... I received 2 (1,000 ml) bags of fluids, 2 bags potassium And, a CT due to the pain that started. ( possible kidney issue) It was awful. Please go get checked out. -

Sleeved May 17th. Down 14 lbs since surgery date. -
Hi everybody!!! I'm home and doing well. I planned on posted from Mexico but forgot my iPad on the charging dock (smh). Anyway, I wanted to share my experience here because I learned soooo much here from others..... I wanna do my part. Sorry if this is too long.. I had surgery on May 17th in PVR with Dr. Jose Castaneda and I couldn't be happier. I arrived in PVR on May 16th and was picked up by a CMQ Premiere hospital rep (Jackie, super sweet lady). I checked in to a clean, bright, and friendly new hospital with a room that was more look a suite. From that moment on, every 3 to 4 hours a nurse would enter to check on me...........And bring in my last meal at 8pm. Lol Surgery morning. Dr. Castaneda came in to explain everything again (very very nice doctor), my IV was started, fluids given, compression stockings, etc. after surgery: back in my suite... I experienced a lot of pain. Within minutes of pressing my nurse call button, I was given IV Morphine and a IM shot. every 4 to 5 hours, while still on a continuous IV drip of Normal Saline, I was given antibiotics, pain meds, zofran, and omeprazol. And was checked on by the on duty doctor. I was up an walking 7 hours after surgery. Discharged to Marriott Casa Magna( OMG, beautiful). With 2 drains. No problem getting fluids in. Sore muscle pain on my right side and the drains were annoying. ( but I understand why I had them). My doctor called me several nights to check on me at the hotel and a cmq rep took me shopping not once but twice. 2 days post op. the drains came out and I was given a different pain med due to my discomfort on the lower right side. (Tramadol drops). Thanks Doc!!! Home bound: walking thur the PVR and super huge DFW airport fixed an gas I may have had, but it wore me out. Pain on right side when I get up from a sitter position but its manageable. Best part is although I had surgery in Mexico..... My doctor is reachable by email and even his cell(no middle man). Thank you all for your support and good luck to you all.

Sleeved 5/16/13 but weight loss is slow
Mimistar replied to KrysMom271's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, I had surgery 6 days ago and I have only lost 1 pound. I'm happy the swelling is going down. I was told it is normal. You had drains due to the amount of irrigation that the Doc does during surgery. Between the fluid being put in you vein and used to flush your abdomen after surgery... Some people go home 1-10lbs heavier. Don't worry.... We will be dropping pounds soon. :-) -
