What if i dont lose my 10%!
Kate-NH replied to SabrinaM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did...I've met with the nutritionist, the psychologist, attended the 5 behavior classes, the nurse 3 times and all I need to do is lose the remaining weight and then I can meet the surgeons and have the blood work and the swallow study done, oh, and the physical by my primary. I've already met my insurance requirement...no pre-op liquid diet required so I can't count on that for a loss. -

I am having a big issue with this...I need to lose 15 pounds before I can see the surgeons...I have struggled to lose 8 and I've been trying since November....UGH! As soon as the 15 is gone, my surgery can be scheduled. Good luck!!! Kate -

Fertility Treatments vs. VSG surgery
Kate-NH replied to misslady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hello~ I'm just wanted to chime in because I did infertility treatments. I did 6 rounds of Clomid with no luck, but then I did 1 round of Gonal-F and was pregnant with twins! I was 260 when I got pregnant and had a very healthy pregnancy. Good luck with whichever path you choose! Kate -

Are there any teachers out there
Kate-NH replied to smnp228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello- I'm a high school special education teacher, but I work in a private school for students with significant disabilities. My goal is to have surgery in March and I'm planning on taking 3 weeks off, but will have to be on light duty after that with not lifting or restraining students (we have students with major behaviors as well). My school is planning on getting a sub so there will not be any pressure to return if I am not ready! Kate -

I have diabetes and I have a specific amount of carbs I can eat per meal/snack! I didn not feel at all that I had a "cookie cutter" diet. Now all I have to do is exercise....ugh!! -

I started at 270 and I would love to get to 130...I'm only 5'2 so need to lose a lot. Did you see Jessica for the nutritionist? She is great as well as was the PT...I saw Brooks. Portsmouth is a beautiful area...especially in the summer! -

Hi Jenny- Isn't Dr. Wagner wonderful??? Tomorrow is my last class for the behavior class and I have been loving those classes as well! I've met with the PT, Nutritionist and the nurse...I need to go in next Wednesday to be weighed in as I have to lose 15 pounds...I lost 7 of the 15 but then gained 1.5 pounds so I need to go back and if I'm down, then the testing will start. My goal is to have my surgery in March, but it all depends on how quickly I lose the remainder of the weight and of course insurance. That is great that you're have the surgery with your husband!!! I have heard nothing but great things about Portsmouth Hospital. The biggest thing I can say is just how supportive everyone is!!! Kate -

I haven't had my surgery yet, hopefully in March! I will look into it for you. My guess is that you can as it's an open forum type group. If you go to the Portsmouth Hospital website and look up the WLS it will tell you when the groups are happening. I know there is a pre-op support group, post-op, and an informational night. Kate -

I'm not going, but wanted to say HI from your neighbor in New Hampshire!!!! Kate -
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to staff off by saying how excited I am to have found this forum. I have been reading it for days and I'm a little addicted:) I am about 1/2 way through the process and hoping to have my surgery in March...I'm a little nervous and last night actually questioned if I really want to do this, but the bottom line is that I need to. I'm 38 and weigh 270 and have type 2 diabetes. Is there anyone who has had diabetes and the surgery has helped with it??? Thank you- Kate
