  1. I was sleeved on 2/12, and I have hunger pain too. There was a couple of days where I had an almost constant gurgling and churning in my stomach that felt to me like hunger pains. I was so discouraged. I take prilosec every day and added zantac and even tums, and nothing worked. I called the doctor, who actually allowed me to add some soft foods to my diet. That helped. I still feel like I get the hunger pains around mealtime. I think it's the acid in your stomach, because your stomach is so empty, it churns and feels like hunger. Either way, its not fun! I hope it goes away!

  2. I found very soft and comfortable nightgowns at Target! I got a couple of different ones, and then a black robe from the same brand. They were perfect!! You will definitely be more comfortable in nightgowns. Even yoga pants are a little constricting at first. Your stomach will be very bloated for a few days.

  3. I was sleeved on 2/12. All of my incisions have been healing up very well. I think that I have pushed myself a little too hard, because last night I felt like I had pulled something in that lower right incision. It is hard underneath as well. It scared me a little, and reminded me that I am not 100% healed yet, even though I feel like I am. I have my first post-op appt. on Wed, so I'll be able to get it looked at, but I hope I didn't hurt anything!

  4. ouch...2 days of on and off what feels like grinding.....hunger pain Like.....soreness in my stomach...but not heartburn.....on 20 g omeprazole and i have been crushing the pill...didn't know i was supposed to take it whole..thought i supposed to crush all my pills at 32 days op. called surgeons office and they told me that so i am hoping to nip this in bud continue what has been a good recovery. Anone having issues with persistent issues this?

I had this very same thing last week. I thought I was going nuts! It felt like constant hunger pains! I am on 40 mg of omeprazole a day. I took a zantac, and I took tums, and none of it seemed to help. When I called my surgeon, his PA told me to go ahead and add refried Beans, and yogurt to my diet. (I was one week post-op) That did the trick. I think it all started after my first BM since surgery. All of the sudden it was like everything woke up, you know?

  5. Had surgery on the 12th.... Haven't been able to go #2 since the 11th ( a week tomorrow). Yesterday I had tea with miralax in it and still nothing... Anyone else have or had this problem? What can I do!? :-(

I had surgery on the 12th too! :) My doctor said it could take a week to go. I finally went today but it was extremely difficult and extremely painful! I highly recommend that you take a stool softener as soon as possible. I think we are still so dehydrated as well as the fact that we have no substance in our tummies. Hope that helps.....

  6. How did you give up smoking before surgery?? That is my hardest task. Thanks

I have smoked since I was 14 years old, a pack a day. I am now almost 40. I honestly thought that this would be the thing that prevented me from having this surgery, because I didn't think that I could do it. First, I told myself that it was temporary, that I wasn't necessarily quitting for good (just for my psyche). Second, I ordered some e-cigarettes (V2 brand) with non nicotine cartridges, and then I braced myself. The first two days were really tough. I could tell that I was chemically withdrawing from the nicotine. I cried a lot. After that, I promise it became so much easier. It was so surprisingly easy, I still can't believe it. And to be honest, I was soooo proud of myself that I want to continue to not smoke. I have only been off of them for a little over a month, but I am feeling great. I had my surgery on Tues. the 12th, and I am doing great! I miss cigarettes, but not so much that I want to start up again. Hope this helps!

  7. I came home from the hospital today. So far, I have been doing pretty well. I have been able to drink fluids without any problems. My doctor has actually cleared me for full liquids already. I have had a few sips of broccoli and cheese Soup. I am feeling a little off kilter today. Part of me is still in shock that I actually had the surgery!

  8. Well, by now you two should be in recovery! I hope everything went well for you both. I am getting ready to leave for the hospital in a little while. I am supposed to get there at 1:00 and surgery is at 4:00. Trying to stay calm and quiet. Here's to a new life for us all!!!!!

  9. I am struggling with this issue as well. I am a very open person, so my whole family and some close friends know. It's not that I want to keep it a secret (which I know is impossible anyway because word spreads quickly in small communities) but I don't want to feel like I have to tell EVERYONE either. The problem is, if people ask, I don't want to lie either.

The other thing that really bothers me is that there are so many people who think that surgery is the easy option. While I will agree that is gives you a major boost in your weight loss, there is nothing easy about it!

I guess we will just have to find our way with this. Good luck! I'm going in for surgery next week and I have had my moments of cold feet as well.
