I'm 12 days post op & I think I may have pulled a muscle in my left side near my incision. I over did it yesterday cleaning house & have noticed tenderness when I cough or turn a certain way. Now everytime I twist or bend or use that muscle I have pain. I feel like its a pulled muscle. Anyone else had a similar issue? What can be done for it?

I started having left side pain shortly after eating or drinking on my left side right under my rib cage. At first I thought it was gas, but it's after everything I eat or drink. It is not severe pain, but just different &akes me worried. Sometimes it's on my side, sometimes more to the front or back. 3 months later it's still there, ct scan showed no abnormalities. No diahrea or throwing up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Left Side Pain 17 mo post op
LovinMe2013 replied to LovinMe2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All of my tests came back normal. The doc said it could be something Gastro. I've determined that it is gas pain, not sure if I'm swallowing too much air or if something else is going on. I was very relieved that it was nothing to do with my sleeve. -
I used Forest Park & was covered by insurance. His staff has become very overwhelmed lately. Just continue to call until you get someone. As far as Dr Frenzel is a very good surgeon.

Has anyone used Dr. Clayton Frenzel?

Don't worry, you will be in good hands with your doctor on top of it. -

I would definitely share with your doctor. With only being a few weeks out you could have a complication. You may need to do a swallow study just to be on the safe side. -
Left Side Pain 17 mo post op
LovinMe2013 replied to LovinMe2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sometimes, I wake up with the pain. It's more of a dull pain. It's almost always 10 min or so after I eat or drink. My bowels are moving, no diarrhea. I usually have has with it. The ct was normal & my medical doc just ran blood work & it was normal. I left my surgeon a message, but they are so busy & 3 hrs away. I wish I could trust local people to treat me, but I fear they won't know what to look for. -

Thank you for replying. It makes me very anxious & fear that I could have a leak or something worse. -
January sleevers......what's your weight loss so far?

We are about 20 months post op. I haven't had any complications, no throwing up...I tolerate everything I eat. For the past 3 mo I have had left side flank pain shortly after eating or drinking. Sometimes it radiates to the back or front, but always on my left right at the bottom of my rib cage. Almost feels like a gas pocket, but it's been daily for 3 mo. Anyone else experienced this? -

I was able to get off of my depression/anxiety meds about 6 mo post op. I had been on them for 2 years before surgery. I did lots of research & knew what to expect each step of the way after surgery. I never hit a depression & never really mourned the loss of food. I just always looked at it as I can't have that right now, but one day if I want to in moderation I can. I was sleeved 1/22/13 at 241 lbs & I'm at 165 lbs now. I went from a size 20 to size 10. I'm also 32 yrs old & had the same worries going through my head. Is this the easy way out? I'm way too young to do this. I have a long life of complications if it doesn't work out. I'm happy that I did it & so far I haven't had any complications. My family finally respected my decision & now they are happy for me. I did "train" my husband before hand on things that I read just to prepare him for how to support me. You do go through emotions as your body changes, but nothing that the support of family & friends can't get you through. I think alot of people end up depressed when they think it's a magic fix, cause it isn't....I still have to calorie count & think of every bite or drink I take. Good luck & stay strong if this is what you truly think will make you happy. -
I did, I was sleeved 1/22/13 by Dr Frenzel and have lost 73 lbs. I really liked Dr Frenzel, very professional & I have had no complications at all.

I'm looking to have a tummy tuck after I reach my goal weight, about 25 lbs to go. Curious those of you that have had a tummy tuck about how many lbs does the removed skin weigh? I know everyone is different, just curious on average how many lbs I will lose from the tuck.

How long did you feel horrible? I was semi-normal after 2-3 weeks

Is it normal for weight loss to slow after several months?
LovinMe2013 replied to Shoota's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been struggling with watching my calorie intake. I am a teacher & of course lacked a schedule this Summer. I found my self snacking more often & eating carbs like chips. I also enjoyed a few too many adult beverages & because of the heat some Gatoraide. I gained 1.5lbs over a week & flipped......I'm only 7 mo post op....way too soon to gain anything! That night I went back to only eating every 4 hr if I was hungry, protein first, logging my point in myfitnesspal, and no liquid calories. I dropped 2 lbs the next week. I got comfortable with my sleeve & life, I thought I could eat or drink whatever because I "couldn't" gain weight. I think it's a constant battle we are going to have forever, but thank God the tool is still there for us to use. My preop weight was 241 & now I'm at 171, about 25 lbs from my goal and I only lose 1-2 lbs per week, I'm adding exercise now to try & help this last 25 come off. -
I'm about 7 mo post op & have lost 70 lbs. those of you that have passed the 1 year mark, how long did you lose weight? Does it stop at 1 yr or 2? How do you stop losing weight in the first place? Will my doc up my calorie intake? I'm 5'4 & weigh 171, I'm thinking I will be happy at 145.

Wow 17 lbs would be nice. I've heard it's awful, I've had 2 c-sections is the pain & recovery worse than that?

Possible pulled muscle?

I'm about 7 mo post op & my pain completely went away not long after I posted this. I just learned to take it easy. I was just really paranoid about messing my sleeve up. -
I just had my first stomach virus/food poisoning post op. I feel horrible, the cramps were so severe that I couldn't sleep. I literally felt like my whole abdomin was filling with air & needed to be popped. 8 oz stomach.....can sure hold a lot of vomit!!!!

Okay guys I'm 5 months post op & 63 lbs down. Lately though I noticing that I can eat a lot more & I'm hungrier than I use to be. Is this normal or have I stretched my sleeve out? The last month I've only lost 1 to 2 lbs per week. I'm starting to become very worried about blowing this great blessing. It's just hard to get past the mental sabotaging.

I wanted to post a pic. I haven't put any pics of my progress. This is Pre op weight 241 & around 4 mo post op & 50 lbs down.

I know we shouldn't drink, but what is the best thing to drink should the occasion arise? I've had Skinny Girl Margarita & Wine....both still have alot of calories.

I'm curious about this 5 day pouch test also. Thank you so much for the advice & that makes sense that I'm just now reaching my full capacity. I just remember a conversation I had prior to surgery with a nurse who was 1 yr vsg post op & she said she can eat 3 bites of steak & 2 bites of a baked potato & she is done. I can eat 1/2 of a steak easy & some veggies. I just have to remember that we are all different & I'm not going to be just like her experience.

Thank y'all so much.
