Mental Changes/depression/mood swings post surgery
Free2BMe002 replied to CocoM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I prepared for the surgery. My Health Ins Co gave me about 6 months to work it out. I was really glad that they did. It is great to know that this is not just what I need to do -- but that I was not successful in any other way... and I DO want to lose weight! Already life is so much easier!! But I want to choke something!!! I have never really Loved my job -- but now I really Hate it! I get tired of hearing the dogs bark and want to kick them (NO, I do NOT follow through). People don't do things the way I want done and I just blow up! This really is not me. I probably sleep better than I have in years -- with only waking up once or twice during the night, however I can't seem to go to sleep until midnight or one in the morning... and I have to be up to work at 6am. I did have the breakdown at about 1 or 2 weeks after the surgery, but this seems different. It is not just for now and I can't seem to get it to go away. -

Thanks to you all for your words of advice. I will take your advice and try them. I am glad to hear I can at least try. Jazzyjay I am sorry to hear that about lettuce. Iceberg lettuce and I have never gotten along well. I learned to like the darker lettuces and they don't give me any problems in that way -- now I have not tried it since my surgery. That was before.

I was told I can't have things like oatmeal or popcorn as they swell in your stomach. Is this true? What else should I stay away from if it is? Thanks for your help!

Slim Fast and Update
Free2BMe002 replied to SimplyFAB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before my first Dr/Nut appt I had lost 12 lbs. Then the next week I peaked and I was only down a couple of pounds! But then we measured and I had lost inches instead. This week I am down a total of 23 lbs all together! So expect an off week but check the sizes! -
It's been a week and I am STARVING! Help!
Free2BMe002 replied to halfofheather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too found myself in this situation. I called my doctor's office who told me to stick to it. I did the first day I could have stage 2 food I tell you, egg whites never tasted so good!! I would call your Dr. office and see what they have to say -- maybe they will be more helpful than mine :-) Good luck to you -- Thurs is only 3 days away!! -
:-) I do believe in miracles, but wasn't really expecting that. :-) No one said I was being logical :- D Just going through a down period. I know that that it is a process, but frustration doesn't always make me logical. What I was wishing was over was this stage where I can only have liquid. I do understand the necessity of it. Today I feel better. Tomorrow I go talk to my surgeon. Hopefully on to the next stage.

I had the sleeve surgery exactly one week ago. I was doing great, no trouble with not eating or with moving around. Then I hurt My foot. I am in pain and having trouble moving around. I am so at the end of my rope! I just want to be done. How do/did you handle this?

I see that you are post-op. How did it go and how are you feeling?
-
It is terrible that it is those memories we keep --- I too have memories from trusted people with the same kind of comments. To them they are stooped in their bad attitude whereas we can move on, and I think you are moving correctly... for what that's worth!

Thanks Tia! I am a week out and is good -- I think anyway -- to know what is coming so that as it does I have information on the fact that this is normal and will go away so I don't have to worry about it when it comes. You go girl! We shall see this through it's natural course and be better for it!

Thank goodness I did not have to do that long! However, for the short time I did do it I found the Protein drink to be a sanity saver. Not the doctors though, sorry to say - especially since I had to buy a huge bag of it! Don't tell my doctor but I weighed today and I am already down 7 lbs. Before the actual procedure I had taken a stroll down "memory" lane -- I ate those things that I enjoyed, and now am not craving things. I found with my previous diets that it was more about that than anything else. So I would fall off the wagon. But I am not hungry anymore, so it makes it easy (for me anyway) to follow this plan. Hope this helps.

I am going to use this to keep my journey pictures.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Free2BMe002 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't believe your husband thinks he is being funny. I would nicely talk to him and tell him how much this hurts. Then sock him if he does it again >: -) We as americans make such a big deal of beauty without understanding that it truly is Who you are not What you are that makes the difference. Please, if your husband continues to "support" you in this manner find yourself a good friend and see if they will support you. I think that support makes all the difference in the world -- the correct kind of support! -
January 2013 Sleevers?
Free2BMe002 replied to LenaVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Monday. Doing Great. if it continues this way... but probably not. I have so many things and times to remember, pills, walk, more pills. But it is worth every minute when I am so much smaller.
