I ate junk all day. I even didn't want to eat the nice baked fish i made for dinner. and then i had gelato. and then there were two bites left that i didn't want to eat.. but i also didn't want to take it into the kitchen.. and it was the expensive kind so i just ate it instead of letting it melt. I'm pretty sure I'm dying. I am admitting this all to you, vsg forum, because i am miserable and i don't know what made me do those things today. (the magical fatty fairy?) I didn't eat anything that's going to hurt my sleeve - all soft junk. lol. too much info - but my cycle is about to start - that could explain the cravings but seriously - i'm going to lay down and attempt to get into fetal position and remember this is how i got fat. i have to get it together! I am admitting this to a forum so that you can blast me and criticize. so. do that please.

what is a good alternative to morphine since morphine doesent work to well
JigglyBitsBeGone replied to jacee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NSAIDS are a no-no if they're taken orally, but when you're in the hospital and have an IV I highly recommend Toradol. I was in the same situation and nothing would help my pain until they finally gave me toradol. I couldn't get up and walk until I had it. Then they started adding a small dose of dilaudid to go with it. Toradol is magic magic. I even preferred it after my C-section. -
I don't drink the true moo now - it was just in the beginning (first week or two). It was better than getting no Protein in, sugar or not - and it worked for me.

I agree with how you're proceeding with this -- personally,..i've kinda decided not to date for awhile because I know that the person I am and who I will gravitate toward will change as my weight drops off and my self esteem gets better. I don't want to settle for someone - and I settle a lot. I want that perfect match. (But I'm also a decade older than you)

mine started when i got home from the hospital and I seriously had a hard time maneuvering down there with my pain etc, so I had to use pads for a couple of days of it.. (not to mention I was staying with my parents and had to ask my poor dad to go by my house and get them.. I got home later and realized there were extra pregnancy tests in that cabinet.. *eyeroll* maybe he didn't notice. lol)

That's exactly what has happened to me so far, and i'm 5 weeks out (And also in Huntsville.) I hope you've had more success since then.

I got a leak..
JigglyBitsBeGone replied to TxBritt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know anything about leaks, but I do know that the shoulder pain is likely gas or (this is where I sound magically smart) referred pain from the vagus nerve that runs along the diaphragm. I only know this because of all the problems when I had a lapband. I had semi-chronic left shoulder pain because my esophagus, diaphragm, band, and liver were all adhesed to one another and my diaphragm was inflamed....=vagus nerve inflamed = left shoulder pain. the hip and the gas and all the other stuff, i have no idea. That must be awfully scary. good luck -- i do wish you a speedy recovery. -
Yep - going to bed early. Going to wake up with a Protein shake. like a good girl. goodness.

SF Jello and SF Gatorade?
JigglyBitsBeGone replied to two_boysmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Red because when they actually do the surgery, if there happens to be anything in the stomach or intestine, they want to know it isn't blood leaking out if they're testing for leakage or.. whatever. (My surgeon didn't give me any restrictions other than clear liquid diet prior to surgery either, but this may be what she's referring to) -
I have Visalus - and 2 scoops with 1 1/2 cups milk is 24g protein - and their protein powder tastes like cake batter.

Thanks guys! I've already checked out the hungry girl cookbooks and the biggest loser cookbook and given those a pass - I'll definitely check out the other resources mentioned. Thanks so much!

Hi guys - I'm finally starting to feel back to myself after my surgery on 1/21/13. I want to get prepped for when I can actually start having 'real food', and I really want to have a good healthy balanced diet. I've been watching Food network's premiere of 'Worst cooks in america' tonight and I'm feeling more motivated. lol. Do you have a resource or cookbook in mind that has good recipes with smaller portions, that your younger children would also want to eat? I'd like to stay away from most of the processed stuff. I've never been a 'cream of' soup person, and i don't do canned meats or anything. I've had to re-program my brain to make myself drink the pre-made protein shakes. (I'm a total neurotic foodie) Any recommendations would be appreciated. p.s. unrelated but I've been on a total stall for 2 weeks now. totally pissing me off.

In the beginning, a lot of my protein came from "true moo" chocolate milk.. 8g a cup, and just plain milk is 9g.. I also have body by visalus protein powder. It's a soy protein, though.. it tastes like cake batter. Mix that into milk with some ice and it's a really thin but kind of icy shake. A cup and a half of milk and the 2 scoops is 24g. I say that, and I've totally slacked on my protein lately. I need to get back on the wagon. I also like the EAS advantage pre-made shakes. I think you just kind of have to try different kinds until you figure out what works for you.

Oh I've been totally emo - in fact, here's my emo post from the 10th http://www.verticals...-whinewhatever/ I was lucky, though, my surgeon let me go home from the hospital on puree which i have to stay on for a month, and I didn't have drains. I can't imagine going though the clear liquid AND drains while having the 'why did i do this' depression. "Hang in there" lady! -
PAIN.......worried

(But totally ask your doctor if it keeps bothering you. I just got my own sleeve a few weeks ago - AM NOT EXPERT.) good luck -
PAIN.......worried
JigglyBitsBeGone replied to brenda ziranda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like referred pain from your vagus nerve, which could be a little inflammation from your diaphragm. OR more likely - it's gas. -
No specific purpose other than to hear myself talk..type.. whine..whatever :)...

Good morning guys - I had my VSG on 1/21/13. In the first 2 weeks, I lost 32 lbs. That's great, I think. I was having trouble getting all my fluids in, but I think I'm doing better now. I'm not so much on getting all my Protein in.. or the Vitamins. Ugh, the vitamins. Why can't they make a chewable that gives you a buzz? At least then, I'd probably have more motivation to take them. I can't seem to tolerate them very well. They make me want to puke. I know it's best for me to get all my protein in and all my supplements. I know that it will help with things like hair loss and my nails and my skin and just overall nutrition. You would think, if I know this, I would follow through. My doctor's office gave me this stuff that has the Multivitamin +Calcium citrate in a packet like crystal light and you mix it with your bottle of Water. I don't even want to try it. All I want is plain cold ice water. Thankfully, I've only thrown up once since the surgery. It was just after waking up, and it was on an empty stomach. I really thought it was going to hurt more than it did, but it definitely wasn't pleasant. I never knew bile was .. quite.. that shade of yellow. wow. I still have pain. I actually converted from a band.. well - my second band. Both lapbands I had grew into me. The first was attaching my liver, diaphragm, and esophagus all together. The second had grown into my liver. In fact, my surgery on the 21st lasted 4 hours because of some complications. One thing was that they couldn't find the port from the band. They brought in xray and found it in my liver. My surgeon says that may explain some of the extra pain I'm having. I get better each day, and then out of no where I'll start having this pain on my left side just under the boob area. He says that's where they took it out. I've found myself asking "why did I do this???" more than a few times, and I just have to talk myself up and tell myself that this too shall pass. I'm getting better every day, but I am seriously disappointed in myself because I have really let this all get to me. I thought ' I've had like 4 bariatric surgeries - this won't be a huge deal..' (2 bands placed, removal.. fix of a slip for the first one) It really is a huge deal. I knew I was forcing myself into a huge deal in the first place when I decided to have this done. I argued with insurance. I hired an advocate (kudos to Lindstrom Obesity advocates! such such nice people.). I got them to approve a different surgery when they said 'one per lifetime'. I know - logically why I did this.. but it's hard. Also, my poor kid. ha. I'm a single parent, and she and I usually get out and do stuff on the weekends. I have been an absolute bore the past few weeks, and I'm honestly a little snippity. (she's 6) I haven't been walking like I should. I haven't been doing anything like I should. I have got to get out of this funk. When did you start your walking? How much and how often? My steri-strips are off now - does this mean I can go swimming/ take bath etc? -

simple syrup - but not very much. it's also decaffeinated. You can get it unsweetened if you prefer, and/or add artificial sweetener. -

I'm only 3 weeks post-op, so I can't stand coffee yet. It's a shame because I really do love it. I'm a gold card member at starbucks. Right now, I'm addicted to the iced shaken tazo passion tea. I do get it sweetened. Even though they sweeten it, it's not too sweet. Can't tolerate that.
