Eating too much after surgery
LadyLee replied to luvnlyfe20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 12th will be here before you no it, I am completely empty also, out over one year, yes I want to eat too, and a lot...... Hang in there; try food of more Fiber and substance, what I mean is thick, heavy type food. I do this and it helps me. Have you tried drinking Water 30 minutes before eating? I'm trying to think of what has helped me in the past. Have you tried not chewing the hell out of your food, maybe it is to mushy and not filling you up and goes right threw the band? Once you get your fill the weight will start falling off of you and you won't be so hungry. -
Hi, Have you tried a support group to help you? I would write down all you eat, maybe the calories are to high you are consuming, try eating protein first, then veggies and if you have to then carbs. I join a support group, it has open my eyes, I now see what I'm eating, amounts, when I turn to food. I now drink over 64 oz of water daily, it help you feel full. I haven't exercises either but the doctor wants me to and I need to, just don't no why I don't. :cursing:

Let me no how it's going in a couple of days. How much did they put in your band? Your on the right track.:cursing: -
I have learned that if you keep track you can see what works for you. I was unfilled two weeks ago and wait until June 12 for an upper GI, then maybe at that time they will refill me again and I can start losing weight..... I hope this happens! PS. I need to start working out, this website has a place where we can go to join in on working out.

Eating too much after surgery
LadyLee replied to luvnlyfe20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, You will always be able to eat and drink at the same time, but don't only drink 15 minutes before or 30 minutes after you eat, if you do, it will all wash threw your band and it won't feel like you had surgery at all! Try very hard not to drink when eating. -

Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
LadyLee replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why did you have to be unfilled? I just was unfilled also, the last adj I had made me have heartburn so bad almost very night. I had some pain, the upper GI showed my band had slipped. So now I have to wait until June 12th for another upper GI and then then doctor will let me know if I can have a fill again. I leave for a trip on June 20th, I don't want to gain weight either. I'm trying very hard not to eat to much and make the right choices:frown: -
You know I feel the same way you do. I didn't realize it until just lately, that people are more helpful, smiling, hold the door open also. I must have been in my own world, never the notice how people were towards me. I didn't care before what people thought of me. I always dressed nice, did my hair and wore make-up. But noe I have started to notice a difference in people. I still need to loose 100 pounds to reach my goal. I'm now after one year haveing some problems with my band, Thursday I had to have my band unfilled, my band has slipped a little and need to wait four weeks, then recheck my band before going foward again. I don't have any great advice, just look foward and keep up the good work. :hand::biggrin::wink2:

Well, I felt the same way you're feeling. I join the support group where I had my surgery, its help me a lot, its in your head your hungry, or you need to drink at least 64 Oz of Water through out the day. Wait 30 minutes after drinking some water and see if you still feel the same way, if you are then eat food. The classes open my eyes for me, made me think before I would eat, still have 90 more pounds to go, but we will all get there. Keep up the good work. -

Yes, I'm having problems since my last fill, it was about a month ago. I was banded Feb 2007. :confused2: -
Hi, Has your band sliped? Mine did and had to have it unfilled. We waited 9 weeks and had it filled again. Now everything is good and lost 100 pounds, was banded the day after you. If you eat soft of mushy food this will put pounds back on or stgop your weight lost, I know it happen to me. Have you talk with you doctor about what happens to you?

You're doing wonderful! Yes, it's been one year and not easy but we have made it. I'm now done 100 pounds and wanting to get down 100 more pounds...... Saw the doctor the other day, he said that only 45% of the lap-band people loose hundered pounds the first year and studies show they re-gain some weight back the second year. I haven't start exercising yet, but today is the day I start working out. Keep up the good work....

I know you can do it, check with doctor for after care help, it's help me alot to open my eyes, plus listen to Bariatric Raido on your computer or you can call the toll free number @ 1-877-474-3302 ask him questions. My class has help me think when I go to eat. You can do it!

Hi, I had my surgery done Feb 15th, 2007, I have lost 98 pounds, its been very hard, but we have chosen the hard way not the by-pass. You must chew very slowly and take 30 minutes to finish a meal. I notice that I would eat soft or mushy food that was higher in calories, once I started eating food like protien then salad or veggies I got full sooner and started lossing weight again. You must eat protien first, then fats, then vegetables and fruits, skip the carbs. I attend a class threw my doctors, once a week for almost a year, it has help me understand my I eat when not hungry, other difficult things arise. It has really open my eyes and made me think when I go to eat or when I'm eating. Most import you must drink at least 64 oz of water a day, ad crystal light to the water it helps get it down. I have not started as of yet to exercise, I need to, I don't know what I'm waiting for. My goal is to weigh 150 pounds, I no it now needs to come from me, I have the tool to my my band work, but now I need to do my part also. You'll make, set a goal and try to reach for it everyday.

Help! I think my band has slipped!
LadyLee replied to missy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, My band slipped last month, I had very bad pain upper middle area all day and night. Had to have an upper GI to see if my band had slipped and it did, only on one side. So my Doctor unfilled me and in one month he will do another upper GI to see if the band reposition it self. I still had restriction when I ate with my slip. I now have gained 3 pound in three weeks. I'm trying very hard not to eat much, but I don't feel full at all. I was very upset when the Doctor told me what had happen, all I wanted to do was to eat. My classes I go to for weekly support threw my Doctors office has help me to be more aware. Good Luck with you next Doctor appt. -
band eroded in to stomach - anyone had this happen
LadyLee replied to rachel01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You should check into others Doctors, my Doctor only charge me 8,500.00. I think 17,000 is way to much money. I did my band six months ago and love it. I had no problems. I live in California had in done in Orange County the Hospital specializes in by-pass and band surgeries, I had great staff and after care at the Hospital. My Doctor is very concern with his patients and after care. I attended there weekly meeting which helps alot understand how we got fat, learn how to deal with everyday issues. Now that I have the band you can only eat small amounts or you'll be sick, or eat to fast you'll be sick. So we need to learn how to reprogram our selfs, deal with everyday life, I now see when a problem arrives I turn to food, some people turn to other things, so the classes really helps, the class go for a year which was 650.00 more. The adjustment were included with my initial fee. I went to three Doctors before I made my decision, found out that my insurance wouldn't pay for me, my BMI was to high, so I had to pay for the surgery. All the cash fees I learned were negotiable, you just have to ask the finance person at the doctors office. My doctor told me that there is a 2% removal of the band from erosion and slight chance of slippage. My insurance company paid for all my test for the surgery, but if I wanted the by-pass they would have paid 80% of that. -
I would like to know where to find the info on the AP Band and how new it is?
-
Has anyone had slippage since they had there band put in? Doctor told me yesterday when I went for a upper GI due to one day on bad pain that my band had slipping slightly and to wait two weeks and see how I feel? Help
