Constipation and 8 weeks postop
want2clessofme commented on Tiffany0818's blog entry in Tiffany0818's Blog
I backed off on my iron supplement ... and that did it! I am post menopause and the 65 milligram dose was just too much for me. I take half a tablet and have returned to normal. But first, I tried adding more raw fruits and veggies, exercise, even a stool softener. Also, nutritionist said to not go over 70 grams of protein - which can constipate you. Hope that helps -
Post Op issue, anyone else experinece this?
want2clessofme replied to luvthecardinals's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the sore throat - in fact temporarily lost my voice for a day or so. No spitting of blood. The tightness you feel is probably a combination of swelling and gas. It gets better with time ... I felt pretty darn good by day 5 or 6 as long as I sipped tiny amounts .... slowly. -
I feel the same way about the eliptical machine. So, I had my hubs bring it into the bedroom and park it in front of the T.V. and I don't get bored anymore Can you do that with your treadmill?

Wanting to cry
want2clessofme replied to SkinnyScrapper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am post menopause (57) and haven't had any emotional issues to date. Maybe because my hormones have already done their thing! Hang in there - and if you feel like crying - do it! -
It feels so good to be off most of my medications already. No more metformin, now off blood pressure meds, next - cholesterol meds after blood work in September. Last appt. doc said when my PPI prescription expires - gonna try to get by without it, hoping fixing my hernia will make a difference with acid reflux. We shall see!

Hunger - 11 days post op
want2clessofme replied to Ngonzalez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I experienced hunger at about 3 weeks. Most days - I am good eating every 3 hours, but after 4 tend to get hungry. Not like before - but hungry. Drinking more fluids will usually satisfy me for a while. I was purposefully trying to go longer between meals and snacks, but have a tendency to try to eat too fast when I am hungry. My doc just told me to not go the four hours - to keep it to every 3 - even if it is a cheese stick and half an apple. I do notice that the denser the protein (chicken, fish, turkey) the more restriction I feel and the longer it sticks with me. -
Weigjt gain at 4 weeks?
want2clessofme replied to PaNailGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the "don't weigh every day" mentality. Drives you crazy! I do it - however! LOL I work outside and drink LOTS of water - also sweat out a lot. But, one day last week I had something high in sodium and noticed I wasn't urinating much - hopped on the scale - and had gained 2 pounds! It was back down a couple of days later -
8 week stall has become rapid gain. HELP!
want2clessofme replied to ChefEm624's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am about where you are ... (8 weeks out) and I have gained 2 - 3 pounds this week. I have drank an enormous amount of liquids - due to the heat and I work outdoors. I totally expect to wake up one morning and be back down. My daily calorie intake is between 800 - 1000. -

is anyone not hungry after having gastric sleeve surgery
want2clessofme replied to monicaleigh125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hunger returned for me around 3 weeks - but only if I go beyond 4 hours of not eating. I don't wake hungry in the morning though. -

Can we take Celebrex for occasional arthritis relief? I have a prescription (have to drink carafate to coat the stomach first) am 6 weeks out - but don't want to take it every day. I got a letter from my pharmacy - saying I hadn't refilled my script and that I had to take it daily. Is this true?

question about food

I agree that they should be recommended but not required. I'm glad to hear that some NUT give alternatives. -
question about food
want2clessofme replied to cindymaried's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a conflict of interest. If they sold cookies, cakes, candy ... now that would be. They are interested in your nutrition! These products are "meal replacements" and are not the same as the store brands. They are medically formulated with the right amount of protein, fat, carbs, sodium and VITAMINS. They can be given to overweight individuals to help them lose fast, maintain good blood sugar levels, stave off hunger, yet maintain good health going into surgery. I considered the money I would save NOT buying groceries, eating out, vitamin supplements & the simplicity of use to offset the cost. That said: if u just can't afford them, then tell them. You will have to purchase the proper vitamins and find nutritionally sound meal replacements. -

When can you shake?
want2clessofme replied to startingtolivenow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Protein shakes (New Directions) from day 3. But, honestly - Isopure protein drinks saved the day for me - the first several days. They are clear liquid, 40 grams protein per 20 oz bottle, don't need to be mixed and went down well in my swollen sleeve. -

Congratulations! It sounds like you are doing everything right! Just keep sipping, walking, keep busy educating yourself about your food options now and in the next stage and you will be fine. -
question about food
want2clessofme replied to cindymaried's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter had the same issue. They wouldn't budge. They offered a payment plan. They also do labs before and after surgery to check nutritional levels - so don't lie and say you are using them. Be honest! If you can't afford the payment plan - ask if you can purchase store brands and take vitamin supplements. Good luck! -
is this normal?
want2clessofme replied to Lau12345's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, just noticed that you asked. It was formerfatdudes - he has a website too. It was titled in YouTube search as "WLS No Drinking With Meals." -
What can you eat on the puréed stage?
want2clessofme commented on Tiffany0818's blog entry in Tiffany0818's Blog
Ditto to the list above - plus hummus, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, tuna (pureed) egg salad ... No caffeine for me - not recommended at all bc of diuretic effect. And no carbonated beverages allowed - ever. That's my NUT rules.
