    The Flu Sucks.....

I feel that. I was supposed to go back to work on the 21 of January after my surgery. I had amazing timing and got the flu plus a gastrointestinal virus. The doctor gave another week off. I feel like **** and my boss is super pissed. Tried to guilt me into going to work today even though the doctor gave me off. Told her no, wasn't feeling too good yet. Have a feeling she's going to make me regret it Monday when I finally go in. Horray for the weekend!

Any buddy from quebec or canada?

Hi there! I'm from montreal, qc and had my sleeve done with Dr. Henri Atlas who uses a specific protein for pre-op diet that can only be purchased through him. Its called Optifast by Nestle Nutrition. I had found them online on Ebay but they were less expensive through my doctor. They were not covered by RAMQ. I was on four shakes a day for six weeks! However, my bf had a lapband done with Dr.Jete at Pierre Boucher and he had something called Medium which was covered. And now after my surgery, I started with beneprotein as recommended by my nutritionist but it tastes way too gross when i mix with food so I switched to a brand called SISU (whey protein) offered at the local natural food store. (Marche Tao!)

    SUTURE REMOVAL

I had staples put in. I wouldn't recommend you removing them yourself. I went to the local clinic with a prescription from my surgeon to get them removed. I to thought about removing them myself. But it's better to leave that to a nurse.
  5. Hi, I'm new to this forum. And have a question for my fellow sleevers. I know we are not supposed to mix solids and liquids when we eat. I just was wondering on the timing between. I've read many different things. My food guide says 30 mins before and to wait 60-90 mins after to consume liquids. I have another book that tells me 30mins after. I was wondering what others have been told about this? Thanks!
  6. Thank you to everyone for their responses!

    ADDICTED TO DIET COKE

I stopped drinking soda, 6 weeks before my operation. Which is when I started my pre-op protein shake diet. And my doctor was very clear! NO MORE SODA! Diet or otherwise ever! The weight I'll lose will be a great trade off! And so far I don't miss it so much. You need to stop cold turkey asap! It will be worth it! You can do it!

    Preop smokers? Help please!

I work in a pharmacy and Ive noticed quite a few people consulting our pharmacist about different otc products to quit smoking. Maybe you could make an appointment with your pharmacist or family doctor, to try and put some sort of plan together for you. Pharmacists are a great source of information. They could maybe help you work something out. Stay positive!! You can do it!
  9. That is one of the things I'm looking forward to myself! Congratulations! you look great!

    Question about smoothies ans soups...

For the first little while, soups and smoothies will be all you'll be able to keep down. However I was told that once I started on soft and minced foods. That soup and smoothies were a no for meals. The doctor told me not to mix solids and liquid. Because the liquid takes up space in your small stomach, you want to leave room for the nutritious food you will start to eat. Also it could cause reflux. And that's why when you start eating soft/minced foods to wait 30 mins before and 60 mins after for having liquids. The timing varies from doctor to doctor so be sure to check with yours. And then protein smoothies and other liquids can be consumed later on as snacks but no for meals.
