So What Do I Order @ A Bar?

I used to love beer and I have a job that requires entertaining which means bars and alcohol. I was really concerned about this pre-surgery but what I found out was that nobody really cares what anyone else is doing. We think that everyone is watching us eat / drink but not many people pay attention. They are much more concerned with the plate / drink in front of them. I have gotten Water and someone might say "just water" and I say "yeah not in the mood to drink tonight" and that's the end of it. juice (orange pineapple cranberry) on the rocks is a good option. Note to guys: Don't order juice if your buddies are within earshot, that will catch you more hell than ordering water. But back to your original question, Carbonation doesn't agree with me anymore so no beer or soda mix drinks. I'll order a Fireball on rocks or a Black Russian and a water. Drink the water, sip the drink and make it last. I've also found out the hard way that when you are 80# lighter you get hammmmmmmmered quick. Be careful, give your stomach a few months to heal and read about cross addiction before you start drinking again. Aside from that Cheers!
  3. It's a very common thing. Like Heather said, your body is just adjusting. I am at almost 5 months and had a stall at 3 weeks (like many people) and just came off another stall. This latest one lasted two weeks then this week I dropped 5 pounds so be patient it's a marathon not a sprint. Here's a great explanation of the stall (stolen from Butterthebean's signature :-) ) http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UpXqTcRDvTc

    Second Episode Up!

Great job, and great idea! Thanks
  5. Well it's been three months since my surgery. I am 6'3" and started out at 320 lbs. As of this morning, I weigh 255 lbs. I am at my lowest weight in 20 years. I'm a private person and the thought of posting pictures embarrasses the hell out of me. But there were so many people here that I watched and read about for months before deciding to start this journey. One of the things I that helped my decision was looking at before and after pictures. So in an effort to hopefully pay it forward, increase my karma points, and help someone else.... Here are before, 6 week, and 12 week pics

    3 Months and 65lbs

Those of us on the other side know exactly what you are feeling, we've all been there. The first thing I said when I woke up from surgery was "Well, I really f*cked up this time didn't I?" The week before is a stressful week. Just know that you are doing something that is going to improve your health dramatically. The difficulty in drinking is really the first couple of weeks when your stomach is swollen and healing. I can gulp water now and hydration is not an issue. Eating is different than before and I hope it always will be. I have been able to eat almost anything, but I really try to keep it to lean Proteins and veggies. I still have a premier Protein chocolate shake for Breakfast everyday and will probably do that forever. I can have a bite of bread, Pasta, or rice but it's crap food and just a few bites will make you uncomfortable... so screw bread. The only awkward thing is going out to eat with the guys. They get monster burgers, fries, and beer .... I get a cup of chili and it takes me 20 mins to eat it. Sometimes I get a little nostalgic and wish I could eat the triple coronary bacon burger delight but that feeling goes away when you catch the waitress looking you over.

    3 Months and 65lbs

You never know. Just stick to the plan and you will do great. Sleevezilla will let you know when you are screwing up. I made a chocolate salted caramel cake for my daughters birthday last month. I thought a few bites won't hurt .... about 20 minutes later I thought i was re-enacting the scene from Aliens. Sugar is evil.
  10. After being on liquids for what seemed to be forever, having that first bite of refried beans with some melted cheese was amazing. I think we all remember that day fondly. :-)

    3 Months and 65lbs

Thanks! I'm doing my best to get to the gym at least 3 times a week. On the other days I usually get at least a walk in. I've also been trying to do push ups and crunches in the morning and before bed. That being said I don't always find the time and I should be doing more.

    questions for August ppl

Fast loser, slow loser ... I guess I just never understood why it matters. It's like a marathon ...there are some people that can get it done in 2.5 hrs, most take 4.5, but they still cheer when somebody walks across the finish at 6 hrs. Just keep running, when you can't run anymore walk ... just finish.

    Leave My Food ALONE!

To stop the food thieving teenagers in my house. I used a sharpie and wrote "Gen 2:17" on the things they shouldn't eat. "For on the day that you eat from it you will surely die" - Gen 2:17 Fear the wrath of Dad!

Does it matter? You are 43 pounds down in two months, rejoice in that. Congratulations!

  18. Sugar Free Popsicles are really good as well. Each is equivalent to 4oz of liquid and only 15 calories

    "Good" Fast Food?

I am almost afraid to ask this for fear of being chastised by the sleeve police.... but due to my profession I spend a tremendous amount of time in my car and stay on the road for several days. I have been packing a small cooler with Protein shakes, Protein Bars, Water, tuna packs etc. I have been stopping at grocery stores for meals and getting things like deli meat, cheese, egg salad, etc. Problem is most grocery stores are not near interstates so occasionally due to time constraints I need to eat at a (gasp) fast food restaurant. Soooooo that being said.... What are some "good" (or at least tolerable) fast food choices? All I've come up with so far is: Small Wendy's Chili 210 Calories, 17g Protein, 21 Carbs Taco Bell Pintos and Cheese 190 Calories, 11g Protein, 22 Carbs (basically refried Beans, cheese, and red sauce) Chick-Fil-A Grilled Nuggets 6 pcs 110 Calories, 25g Protein You can get it with apple sauce and skim milk Any other thoughts?

    Muscle milk light

I'm drinking a costco Premier Protein chocolate shake right not ..... Yum. I agree with Bethzy, the vanilla is ok but no where near as good as the chocolate. To make the vanilla better add: a little coffee tastes like an iced latte rootbeer flavoring tastes like a rootbeer float PB2 powder makes it peanutbutter

    Protein Shakes?

I really enjoy the Premier Protein chocolate Flavor (I get it at costco), it's pretty decent for ready to drink. I'm not a big fan of their vanilla flavor, I can drink it, but I don't enjoy it.
