I used to love beer and I have a job that requires entertaining which means bars and alcohol. I was really concerned about this pre-surgery but what I found out was that nobody really cares what anyone else is doing. We think that everyone is watching us eat / drink but not many people pay attention. They are much more concerned with the plate / drink in front of them. I have gotten Water and someone might say "just water" and I say "yeah not in the mood to drink tonight" and that's the end of it. juice (orange pineapple cranberry) on the rocks is a good option. Note to guys: Don't order juice if your buddies are within earshot, that will catch you more hell than ordering water. But back to your original question, Carbonation doesn't agree with me anymore so no beer or soda mix drinks. I'll order a Fireball on rocks or a Black Russian and a water. Drink the water, sip the drink and make it last. I've also found out the hard way that when you are 80# lighter you get hammmmmmmmered quick. Be careful, give your stomach a few months to heal and read about cross addiction before you start drinking again. Aside from that Cheers!

Stall :(. Can Others Share Their Stories.
Bluto replied to Abigal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's a very common thing. Like Heather said, your body is just adjusting. I am at almost 5 months and had a stall at 3 weeks (like many people) and just came off another stall. This latest one lasted two weeks then this week I dropped 5 pounds so be patient it's a marathon not a sprint. Here's a great explanation of the stall (stolen from Butterthebean's signature :-) ) http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UpXqTcRDvTc -

Those of us on the other side know exactly what you are feeling, we've all been there. The first thing I said when I woke up from surgery was "Well, I really f*cked up this time didn't I?" The week before is a stressful week. Just know that you are doing something that is going to improve your health dramatically. The difficulty in drinking is really the first couple of weeks when your stomach is swollen and healing. I can gulp water now and hydration is not an issue. Eating is different than before and I hope it always will be. I have been able to eat almost anything, but I really try to keep it to lean Proteins and veggies. I still have a premier Protein chocolate shake for Breakfast everyday and will probably do that forever. I can have a bite of bread, Pasta, or rice but it's crap food and just a few bites will make you uncomfortable... so screw bread. The only awkward thing is going out to eat with the guys. They get monster burgers, fries, and beer .... I get a cup of chili and it takes me 20 mins to eat it. Sometimes I get a little nostalgic and wish I could eat the triple coronary bacon burger delight but that feeling goes away when you catch the waitress looking you over.

You never know. Just stick to the plan and you will do great. Sleevezilla will let you know when you are screwing up. I made a chocolate salted caramel cake for my daughters birthday last month. I thought a few bites won't hurt .... about 20 minutes later I thought i was re-enacting the scene from Aliens. Sugar is evil.

After being on liquids for what seemed to be forever, having that first bite of refried beans with some melted cheese was amazing. I think we all remember that day fondly. :-)

Thanks! I'm doing my best to get to the gym at least 3 times a week. On the other days I usually get at least a walk in. I've also been trying to do push ups and crunches in the morning and before bed. That being said I don't always find the time and I should be doing more.

You Too!!! You are just about spitting distance to your goal! Congratulations

I lived on SF Popsicles and unjury Fudgesicles for the couple of weeks. I still eat them on a pretty regular basis Unjury Fudgesicles Jell-O sugar free Instant pudding (Not Cooked), 4-serving package 2 cups of cold skim milk 2 Scoops or Packets of Unflavored UNJURY Directions: Use Jell-O Sugar Free Instant Pudding (Not Cooked), 4-serving package Measure 2 cups of cold skim milk following package directions. Add two scoops of Unflavored UNJURY to the two cups of cold milk. Thoroughly mix the UNJURY powder with the milk by shaking or stirring. Put the Jell-O Sugar Free Instant (Not Cooked) Dry Pudding Mix into a bowl. Add the UNJURY and milk mixture to the dry pudding mix. Stir for 2 minutes. Pour into 6 small paper cups (3 oz pudding per cup). Place popsicle stick in center of each cup. Put cups in freezer for 4 hours. Once popsicles have frozen, peel away the paper cup and enjoy! Well it's been three months since my surgery. I am 6'3" and started out at 320 lbs. As of this morning, I weigh 255 lbs. I am at my lowest weight in 20 years. I'm a private person and the thought of posting pictures embarrasses the hell out of me. But there were so many people here that I watched and read about for months before deciding to start this journey. One of the things I that helped my decision was looking at before and after pictures. So in an effort to hopefully pay it forward, increase my karma points, and help someone else.... Here are before, 6 week, and 12 week pics
