My mother in law had RNY and gets stuck at almost every meal and vomits...multiple times somtimes until it passes. I haven't pb'd yet..and dh has pb'd three times. I didn't want to have my organs re-routed...I also didn't like the idea of malabsorption. I have three little ones and needed a lesser recovery time. I think probably 80-90%of us were initially pushed towards GB... for some reason, it seems to be favored..but honestly, I wouldn't have done it and wouldn't be 68lbs lighter... Best of luck to you! Holy smokes!!! You two look wonderful! My husband and I are also banded...he in April of 07 and me in July 07...we've lost 152lbs so far...It's amazing...We have about another 180 to go.. You are a very inspirational couple and I am so thrilled for you! Take care, Rain

Right now I have a specific goal in mind. Unfortunately, my twin pregnancy and vaginal birth destroyed my bladder...My obgyn said there would be no surgery to repair it until I reached about 255...So, I have my appt. on November 13 and am working hard to reach that goal weight by then. I'm 272, so it is going to be a stretch, but I am trying...Either way, I'll have lost about 80lbs... Praying this surgery happens quickly and takes care of my issues... So, that's what's working for me...the desire to be able to go in that office and request a repair asap!!! :mad: Rain

My personal goal is at the top of my normal weight range (180lbs fora 6ft tall woman)...I will evaluate from there. If I am happy at 180, then so be it...if I desire more weight loss, then I will continue.. Everyone has their own reasons for their goal weight just as everyone has their own reasons for being banded in the first place. My reasons may not be the same as yours, but that doesn't make them any less valid. Just different. Rain

according to my trainer, you cannot tighten skin...you can weight lift and re-fill the skin with muscle, but you cannot tighten it...so that is why the stomach is usually the one area that needs the most help after weight loss. There are, however, many other things to be considered...your age, your skin type and how long you've been heavy...There is some normal tightening that happens automatically. Best of luck... Oh Brandy, She is lovely... Gymboree has very tasteful clothing...fits well, nothing crazy...no tummy showing...but they are slightly expensive. I struggle with this as well...Thankfully, my three year old has no say in what goes on her body...I like that! Rain

Well, unfortunately, they weren't healthy to begin with...spent a few days in the SCU...My Meg wasn't breathing and was intubated...very scary...especially because I still had to deliver the other baby. But..for a lot of twins, they were perfectly healthy... Thankfully! We are super busy...you'd think I'd be able to drop weight like a man...but it seems to have no effect on my metabolism... bummer! As for the "road map"...My nieces and nephews nicknamed my stomach the brain. It totally looked like a brain...now it looks like a deflated brain. So very sad. Can you say Tummy Tuck? Booboo kitty...that's a big baby...my niece was 11.5lbs....but she was 2 weeks post due...I think it's because we are tall and our babies have so much room to grow... what do you think??? I like this thread... let's talk about where to shop for longer clothing. I like Long Elegant Legs which is a company out of NJ..but their pants have HUGE inseams...I only need about a 34-35" inseam...they have 36-40...too long. But their shirts are longer in the torso and have longer sleeves... Lane Giant has great jeans now...different sizing. But, I hope to not need them much longer!!! :clap2: Rain

Longhorn, I'm always a little embarrassed to say this...but my twins were 9.3lbs and 8.4 lbs...two weeks early. Granted I was in bed for four months with little movement or exercise....but still!!! I was HUGE!!! So, I hear you ont he big baby front... Rain

Mjhocker I also had twins and a singleton...how old are yours? Mine are 3.5 (singleton) and the twins are 21 months old. Twin skin is the WORST!!! Rain

I am 6ft tall and wear a 12/13W shoe... I weigh 273 and am between a 24 and a 22...I like my clothes a little loser as I've had three kids and my stomach has tons of extra skin. Looking forward to reading your replies. My sister is 200 and a size 16...at 6ft1inch. She normally hangs out around 180 and is between a 12 and a 14 at that time... Rain

Jachut, The money is a thought...but SOOO not worth it. Especially as my children may have a propensity towards being overweight---if it is truly genetic afterall. This is going to be a soapbox moment... I have a beautiful child. Truly... I am stopped almost everywhere we go and told that she should model...I've been given cards from reps for Toys R Us and Macy's. Umm. No. As a parent it is my responsibility to protect my child...not put her "out there" so she can be sexualized by the media. Also, I am not just raising a beautiful child, I am raising a future woman, possibly a mother, a future doctor (according to her...well, that and a hot air balloon pilot!)...I just don't see how holding a toy in a magazine or sitting on a billboards somewhere will help her grow as a person. And how does this relate to Britney? Well, the concern about her physical being rather than her character has to have had something to do with her lack of character as an adult.
