That half piece of bread won't make you stall. Sometimes our bodies have to play catch up. Try not to stress too much because it will come off. When I don't lose for 1-2 weeks then my weight loss often doubles when it does come off.

EPIC FAIL ON THE PRE-OP DIET!
ChristineR replied to READY4CHANGE2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think if you are sticking around these boards for a certain amount of time you have to have thick skin. Although I didn't "cheat" on my preop diet I was emotionally unhappy and it was 1000 times harder for me than after surgery. There are statistics out there that show a certain percent will gain their weight back. It's up to each person. But I don't think what she did puts her or anyone like that in that classified column of failure. I worry a lot more about those that are eating full taco bell quesadillas a week after surgery until the point of vomit over those that nibble a bit on a preop diet. I don't think any of us can predict anybody's behavior after surgery. Franks best point is that you get out of it what you put into it but most of us already know that or should know that! Gomekast, it is a lifetime change. The preop diet sucks and the reason you don't want to cheat is mostly for your liver shrinking. Doctors have different rules and lengths of time for the diet. The higher the BMI tends to have longer preop diets. Mine was 10 days and that was hard, no doubt. But if we think about it we are having the surgery for a reason and food is one of those. We are starting a lifelong journey on the preop diet and it's not all sugar and spice because food was our outlet and enjoyment. It is well worth it, though! I have zero regrets. Now, for the OP, congrats on your surgery and welcome to the losing side! I hope it all went well! -
Good luck! Sorry you are going through that!

Do you think one slice...
ChristineR replied to ginger429's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat super thin crust pizza. Had some tonight since I already had 81 g of protein today. I had a bite of regular pizza once and it bloated or something in my stomach, ugh. Must be super thin for me. It's not something I can do on any sort of regular basis because I can't get my protein in that way. -
When do the gas pains stop?
ChristineR replied to barbmeow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The stomach noises should be temporary. Do you take a daily PPI? That usually helps with the hunger and the burping. Also, do you take your time eating? It's really hard to get into the habit of slow eating but it helps. -

It will get better. I found the chewable gas tablets worked wonders if it was lodged in my stomach. If it was in my shoulder/back area nothing worked but a heating pad while laying flat and then walking when I could. Not sure if the peppermint tea actually worked or not but it all went away at the same time so I credit both LOL. Peppermint isn't my favorite flavor either. I had to put splenda in it. -
How long post-op did you need shakes?
ChristineR replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cannot drink premade protein drinks anymore. My typical morning shake is Target Market Pantry 100% whey protein vanilla with 6 oz 1% milk, 2 tsp cocoa powder, and 1/2 tsp instant espresso with 4 ice cubes in the blender. I've bought the powder sampler from Sytrax Matrix and those were good. EAS 100% Whey is good (chocolate and vanilla but I don't stomach chocolate as easily) and I like designer whey french vanilla -

Atkins advantage shakes!
ChristineR replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have used their shakes and their meal bars. -
Lettuce doesn't sit well with everyone. Just go slow and treat it like you would be introducing new food to a baby. I get the runs whenever I have lettuce so I just avoid it now.

10 months and 115 down w/ pic

Way to go! -
It's one of the hardest things you'll do! It's quite the emotional roller coaster in the beginning. Hang in there and it will get better. It becomes incredibly rewarding as the weight comes off and your life starts to feel normal again. It will.

I'm 4.5 months out and I have thin pizza once in a while. I don't eat bread (it makes me feel sick) and I haven't resumed the Pasta. But I've had a few bites of baked potato, etc. I stay around 70 g of carbs a day but I am "allowed" up to 120. Carbs are in everything unless you eat straight meat/cheese non stop. I just avoid the starchy carbs the best I can.

I've seen a lot of these posts. All that I know is that some people do feel hunger early on. Past suggestions I have read are: 1) Up your water; 2) Make sure you are on a PPI; 3) Up your Protein. I don't know when hunger is suppose to "return" but at 4.5 months out I definitely feel the hunger it just gets satiated easily. It does get easier!! When your solids stage start this awful liquid phase will rapidly feel like a bad nightmare!

I can't seem to get my 80 g of protein in without a shake so either I have a shake every morning or sometimes I swap it for a premier protein bar. -
I don't know but the hospital billed my insurance almost 49k worth of stuff between the surgery, medicine, hospital stay, etc.

EPIC FAIL ON THE PRE-OP DIET!
ChristineR replied to READY4CHANGE2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try not to fall into the last meal syndrome. You will eat those foods again, just in smaller moderations. You don't want them to go in and then close you up because your liver didn't shrink enough. Hopefully it's not enough to hurt anything but please be careful! Good luck Wednesday! you are almost there! -
I found it easier not going to those kind of things before and after for some time. Kudos to you for doing it and sticking to it! Not anyones business why you choose to eat or drink what you want.
-
Don't know when it stops but I look forward to that day!

I would go for a sleeve revision over the lapband. Not sure the lap band is even possible after the surgery.

Day 12 of liquid diet and almost killed someone at the movies last night
ChristineR replied to melmel11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They stink and are overpriced! LOL Yes, I had more of an emotional reaction to people eating on my preop diet than any other time. Hang in there. It gets easier!
