What was your first solid meal postop?
ChristineR replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Scrambled eggs with nonfat dry milk in it. The texture of the eggs changed so much I couldn't eat it again for a long time LOL -

Is anyone able to eat chicken & grapes post op?
ChristineR replied to A_ReNUDE_me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No problems with any of it. I tend to lean towards chicken thighs since my chicken breasts are always over cooked LOL -
Oh to be so close and not have it move! How's your calorie intake? Could you try doing a higher calorie intake for a few days? Or switching out the exercise for something new?

How Long til Hunger Nerve comes back?
ChristineR replied to JessO221's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 months out and I feel hunger. Some days more than others. Depends on my physical activity. But it can be easily satiated which wasn't the case before. I know I have head hunger too and some days it's a battle. -
So far it seems to be the same. Still thinning though. Not as aggressively as it was 2 months ago.

i feel like ive screwed up the surgery!
ChristineR replied to Heather M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is just working it's way out again. I doubt you ruined it. Probably gaining some muscle back. If you lived off tomato soup and popsicles you are going to lose muscle and not just fat. Hopefully it will balance itself out. -
Hunger pangs? Really?
ChristineR replied to c0nnie53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like something else might be going on. The acid is always mentioned because it mimics hunger pangs. You might need a different med for it. Does your stomach feel the same with everything you consume right now? I can't speak for everyone but I didn't have any physical discomfort trying to sip on a few things. You won't get many calories in at this stage but you need something to heal faster. How are protein drinks going? -
It looks great! I had to cut mine off too. I actually like how it looks now after it's grown out LOL

One week post op and have gas trapped in left shoulder
ChristineR replied to HalloweenBaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walk when you can. Try a heating pad while laying flat. I also had some peppermint tea. -
What ItsMe2033 said. The gain is the sodium because pizza and chinese are loaded with it. How far out are you from surgery? But, that being said, some things aren't going to sit well with you no matter what. I'm 6 months out and I can eat thin pizza but only once in a while do I ever do it. I had a small Tai Pei chicken egg roll from the freezer section (no sauce) and it went down fine. But if I had tried that a few months ago it would not have.

I would say it's one or the other. It gets expensive to buy all those bars/drinks for the whole family with all the junk food on top of it. My husband doesn't touch my protein bars/drinks except for my greek yogurts so I get some for him and some for me.

What are your goals for Protein, carb, calorie and fat
ChristineR replied to tampa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 6 months out and I am around 1100 calories, 80-100 g of protein, 60-90 g of carbs (can go to 120 but prefer not to) and fat is usually around 35-50 g. -
I have only used it in smoothies but I'm open for recipes!

Dinner tonight HELP!
ChristineR replied to Kayleen1984's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tricky at 3 weeks and some things may not sit well yet so take your time Can also look on the kids menu for something but I don't know what they have off hand. -
I didn't have a lot of pain. The tablets took care of it for me. I hope this passes soon for you! (I had 5 incisions but they had to check my liver too)

I did a bad bad thing.
ChristineR replied to natalie_christin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't read all of the answers so I'm sure it's been covered. You don't want anything rough in there when the staples are still fresh. It can get lodged between the staples and that would be bad. This phase will pass sooner than you think! Good luck! -
Anyone wishing they would have had gastric bypass instead of sleeve?
ChristineR replied to kvdme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bypass makes me nervous with the reconstruction and the massive absorption issues. I've lost 80 pounds in 5.5 months and I'm feeling great. I have no regrets. Some people lose quickly and some don't. Took me a long time to gain the weight so having any loss is making me happy! -
That looks delicious. Shame that lettuce sends me running to the toilet

Whats the deal with bread?
ChristineR replied to a_jap21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What Magpie said. It tends to expand and, especially in the early days, that will push on your staples. I can eat pita chips, low carb tortilla wrap, but I cannot eat a good ole piece of bread without feeling yucky. -
Sleeve Myths or Reality?
ChristineR replied to RichardVST's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people respond better to very restricted carbs versus others. I am recommended 120g a day tops and I usually get 70-90. Protein is a must so you don't lose muscle, only fat. Plus it helps you heal and recover faster. Certain things I can't eat and it's not because of what they say. Bread upsets my stomach. I still eat pita chips and sometimes (GASP!) I have thin crust pizza. Do what works for you. -
Some odd symptoms..anyone else have this?
ChristineR replied to Justinh125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had that but it peaked my interest so I was doing a search and someone said it can occur when the body is releasing the toxins through the skin. Honestly, I have no idea if that is true or not so I know I am not much of a help. Sorry.
