I make a smoothie with 6 oz 1% milk (or skim), 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tsp peanut butter, 1/4 c. banana, 1/4 c. ice cubes .... It really is a nice blend with the peanut butter. Just gives it enough of a kick. Just takes a long time to drink it LOL

Interesting! I'm glad you said that because he definitely had me thinking I could prevent it completely.

ChristineR replied to Diamondeyed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! -
I had a nice date night with hubs the night prior to my preop diet starting. Looking back it wasn't a necessity but mentally I enjoyed it/needed it. Good luck!

Headaches! HELP!
ChristineR replied to Collegegang77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a raging headache one day and had a big protein drink and it subsided almost immediately. Are you getting enough protein in with your water? I was afraid to take anything either. Almost resorted to a pain pill it hurt so much. -
I'm almost 8 weeks out and mine is falling out. I'm getting 60-80 g of protein a day so I'm guessing that's not enough. Doc said I wouldn't lose my hair if I had my protein and took my vitamins. Still falling out.

6 days post op
ChristineR replied to NeverBeTheSameAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could drive when I was off pain pills. The way I sat in the car, though, hit a nerve that put intense pain in my left shoulder blade. Took a few weeks to work it's way out. So glad it did! I didn't feel much discomfort at all with eating/drinking. I hope it passes, Chris! -

Feeling yucky, lack protein
ChristineR replied to cookiebun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you say below how far are you talking? I've had a real lack of hunger lately so I've just made myself resort back to protein drinks to be sure. I had one day where I exercised but ended up with a splitting headache by night. I thought it was dehydration although I was over the 64 oz. Had some protein drink and the headache subsided almost immediately. -
Stalled...pls help!
ChristineR replied to New me after 7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have read that some people can stall for weeks. Increasing calories is suppose to jump start that stall (I think). Try measuring yourself and see if you have lost more inches. If you have gone 3 weeks I'm going to bet that very soon the weight is going to melt off like you never stalled. Also, what kind of exercise are you doing? Any chance you have gained some muscle? It must be incredibly frustrating! I'm on day 4 of a stall and feel a big sigh coming on. -
A thought for smokers
ChristineR replied to ebonisekim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor is very hesitant to sleeve smokers. They said (don't know if it's a scare tactic or true) but it can put an ulcer on your small stomach. I quit about 8 years ago, then started back up after my second child was pure colic for 5 months (6 years ago) ... quit again after I couldn't breathe, and haven't looked back. The only time I've craved it since was when I was pregnant with my 3rd child. Most crave food but I wanted a cig. I was good though and kept my cravings in my head only I remember the days of smoking in restaurants. Seems so long ago! -
Day 5 post op - i feel somewhat human !
ChristineR replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! That was about when I felt fabulous. Still got exhausted easily but I felt, as you put it, "human" again LOL -
SO Annoying! Anyone else share my frustration?
ChristineR replied to Aries's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've eliminated a lot of the junk food in the house. When I let my kids have some chips I now put it in a snack size plastic bag. They are adjusting just fine. My husband is in awe of the weight loss and is now jumping on the weight loss wagon. I'm not to buy more sodas for him, no more chips, etc, so it's all dwindling out completely. I have not ventured to a restaurant yet except for Breakfast on our way back from camping. I ordered off the Denny's kids menu. I did watch a guy next to us (incredibly skinny) put away 2 huge plates of food and a side of bacon and a side of toast. I couldn't even do that back in the day, LOL. On a good note, at least it's gross to you and not a trigger to want to overeat -
I just noticed today that the tips of my front top/bottom teeth look slightly translucent. It didn't look that way yesterday!

Drinking & eating & eating & drinking
ChristineR replied to Tasteofheaven's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
15-20-30 min rule for me. Stop 15 prior, eat for 20, wait 30 mins after. I wish I had practiced it more prior to surgery. It's getting easier. I found, especially in the beginning, the method to be like a full time job in order to get enough of everything in. -
I've lost 11 pounds since the 31 of May.
ChristineR replied to diana89131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Whats "normal"?
ChristineR replied to missyjoy2078's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my doc the same thing and she didn't have an answer. No way to know what your body will or will not do But it will be a loss so that's good, right? -
When can we drink soda

Should I change what I'm doing? Maybe I need to relax.
ChristineR replied to christieouchley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's just a stall. It will go down. Some people stall for a few days, some stall for a few weeks. -
I had an ablation ... it's awesome and did not hurt. It doesn't work on everyone though. You should at least have light periods if not zero periods. I did end up with light spotting for about six weeks from christmas to mid-feb. But it had been a year of nothing prior and nothing since so far. I was told to expect menstrual changes for the better now so hopefully it will just stay away!

How often are you eating?
ChristineR replied to tinahall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Completely agree! Unless I end up with multiple Protein drinks I'm not finding it possible to do it on less than 5. Som edays I have 4 but that usually has a 26 g Protein shake in there. -
*Hugs* Way to go!!

tummy tuck before children
ChristineR replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not but I'm sure there are people out there that had a tummy tuck pre kids (pure cosmetic or wls). If I had been in this situation pre-kids I would have no issues getting the tummy tuck and then still having a family when that time comes.
