I really bumped up my exercise these past 2 weeks as well so I thought it would definitely move down. Guess I was wrong. I emailed my NUT to make sure I was getting in enough calories. No word back yet.

I was sleeved 4/16 and have lost 43 pounds (that includes a week prior on diet so ten weeks). I haven't lost a thing in 2 weeks though. Boo

That's what I'm hoping since I've started running again. Going to call my NUT today to see about calories. -

Nice. I was a 24 but still in the 20-22 area after losing 40 pounds. I can't wait to wear a 14! I'm slimming down all over but it's not quite enough for drastically smaller pant sizes yet. -
I can eat just about anything. I go through phases of wanting to try new things and then phases of not being hungry for a few days and living on protein drinks.

I've seen people say they lost their periods and I've seen people with super, awful periods afterwards. I had an ablation 2 years ago so I don't have active periods anymore but I can tell my hormones are worse at the moment. I still get to go through the same PMS roller coaster as everyone else

At 5 days post op I was on protein drinks, protein soups and water. I did not feel hungry although I would hear my stomach rumble. I had a lot of tenderness around my big incision but not the small ones. Not sure if I would call it "pain" though. They told me to check my incisions every day and if anything looks different to call immediately.

Frustrated #failure
ChristineR replied to MystiGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm at 9 weeks post op and dealing with the same 2 pounds up and down for the past 2 weeks. I just remind myself that it will keep going and that I wouldn't have lost the other 41 pounds otherwise. I can only hope to step on the scale and have a few pounds down like some people report. I'm exercising, eating my Protein, low carbs, getting my Water .... it's bound to come off eventually. Hang in there! You have still lost an awesome amount of weight -
Ever been called fat by a kid?
ChristineR replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure if it's funny or not but I did laugh reading it. There was a little girl (maybe 4) asking her mom why I was fat when I walked by and the mom didn't answer. I was in the next aisle and I heard her ask 3 times. She just stayed quiet. I don't know if that was the right answer or not but I enjoyed hearing nothing instead of whatever might have been going through her head. My kids don't focus on people that much unless it's teeth. They have a thing with teeth being bad or missing. Unfortunately, they are kids (my 7 yo doesn't do this, she asks quietly now but my 5 yo blurts it out) but most people have responded nicely to them asking such questions because you could tell it was of pure innocence. I usually just say we don't talk about other people ... do we want them talking about us? and I leave it at that. -
Yes pains in the left shoulder can be from the gas. It took me almost 3 weeks to have it work it's way out. But I also learned it can be a sign of a leak. I didn't know that and when I had called my docs office about it the receptionist (who also had bypass years ago) said it was normal and things will work it's way out. so when I went in for my 2 week checkup the doc was livid that she addressed the concern with me instead of putting me through to her. I guess I could have been more aggressive about talking to the doctor but I had no idea it was a sign of a leak.

How many carbs a day are you consuming?
ChristineR posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I'm sure this topic has been covered and re-covered but I was thinking today about carb intake. I probably get in about 15-30 g a day and I don't have any clue what my intake should or shouldn't be. I don't eat bread, potatoes, starches, etc. My carbs usually come from dairy/protein drinks and more recently the lovely little wonton wrapper used to cook from emilybites.com. How's everyone else doing in the carb dept? -

Ever been called fat by a kid?

I had just delivered my son a few weeks prior and we (my whole family including husband and my mother) were walking a few blocks to our local festival. Some pre-teen boys (12ish) came up behind me and started singing "I like big butts and I cannot lie" then they kicked a soda can into my legs. My husband started yelling at them and they ran off. Unfortunately, it left a big ole dent in my confidence. Nothing like being harassed by a bunch of young punk kids when all you want to do is enjoy your family outing. As for the the conversations about real young children: Yes, it's usually innocent. But my daughter was in K two years ago. At that time she held most of her weight in her tummy. On two different occasions another little girl poked her in the stomach hard and started calling her fat. My daughter, having no idea what it meant, now has a negative connotation with it. This same girl also use to make fun of her friend at lunch and tell her she ate too much until the sweet, precious child wouldn't eat. We are talking about FIVE year olds!! Since then my daughter always asks me if she's fat and every time I tell her she is perfect and beautiful because she is. Yes, she holds her weight in her stomach but on a "medical level" she's not even considered overweight. She's 7 now and every year her stomach slims down a little more. It's such a shame to know that children start at such a young age with being bullies to one another. -
Hair is getting to thick.. Anyone else ?
ChristineR replied to MariaL1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair is falling out in clumps. Luckily, I have a lot of it to spare! I actually like the somewhat thinner look of my hair. -
My nurse said some people retain the fluids for up to 6 weeks. It seemed like a super long time to retain but maybe that's going on?

What's your calorie intake?

5 days post op-afraid it didnt work! Feeling TOO normal.
ChristineR replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful with the yogurt. Did they not want you on liquids for 2 weeks? Your choice either way but it's good to hear all is well ps. nevermind I just saw your post above -
I was incredibly tired but not to that extreme. I did take 2 naps a day the first week and 1 nap a day the second week.

As long as the incision is sealed it should be ok.
-
by liquid bandaid do you mean skin glue on top? My small ones came off 5-7 days after surgery but it took over 2 weeks for the big one to peel off.

3 wks post-op gaining!
ChristineR replied to sunkiss713's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Silver summed it up perfectly. You can't be taking in anything 3 weeks post op to gain 8 lbs. Summer is here(hot), hormonal changes are occurring, BMs are changing, and you are more than likely just retaining. Make sure you get in 64 oz plus of water.
