Mine wasn't too bad preop but he was a bit of a beast post op. Started drinking a lot and criticizing my parenting, my house cleaning abilities, leaving me with the kids alone within 2 days of being home from the hospital .... you name it he was upset. Then when the burden of the extra work with the kids and cleaning lifted he was back to himself. Ten weeks later he's a new person and wanting to get into shape himself, always seems more pleasant, hardly ever makes a critical remark. I didn't know if our marriage was going to survive those few weeks after. I don't think it was the surgery itself but the fact that he had to do everything which he has never had to do.

Any APRIL SLEEVERS? Let me know your progress !
ChristineR replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So apparently my 2 week stall is over. I've lost 4 pounds so far this week and my pants are officially falling off of my butt. I finally hit a size 20 which I'm hoping to go through quickly because most of my leftover clothes are 18 and under. I really don't want to shop for something that will only fit for a few weeks to a month. -
Im addicted to weighing "/
ChristineR replied to amytug's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I weigh every day, sometimes twice a day. I was bummed when I missed it this morning after my 3 yo got out of his room and turned the vacuum on and I'm scrambling trying to figure out what just happened so early. By the time my brain registered it was too late. Oh well, there is tomorrow .... or tonight! I told myself to weigh once a week but it's not possible. I can't help myself. My husband weighs on Mondays and he's perfectly content. He also has no problems losing weight so it's always a success for him. The scale has pleased me this week although the 2 prior weeks it didn't move. But I guess I'm making up for it this week since I've lost over 4 pounds. If anything, I'm learning not to panic and stress so much about it. -
Day 5 Post Op! Still lots of gas/air :(
ChristineR replied to lyd83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Took me over 2 weeks. I did peppermint tea, heating pads and gas X. Nothing worked. My body just had to reabsorb it. Edit: It looks like it worked for others, though, so always worth a try! -

Be stronger than the food. You can do it! Maybe avoid those places until you have better control? *HUGS* -
Has anyone taken PHENTERMINE after vsg?
ChristineR replied to minnie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor and talk to them about it so your answer comes straight from them. My first reaction is no but I don't have a real medical answer. I can understand your frustrations though. -

ChristineR replied to sparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No problems here aside from the usual discomforts after surgery -
Ack that sounds awful First thing I thought of was intense reflux but don't know about the blood. Please keep us posted and I hope whatever it is has a simple solution!

Frustrated #failure

If you look at the numbers, though, it's 4 pounds a week! That's incredible! With stalls and what-not I'm averaging about 4 pounds week as well. I'm losing last in my stomach so it's making pants difficult My back fat is slimming down, my legs are, my butt is .... but my pant size only went down 2 even with 45 pounds down. -
Annoyed...gained three pounds
ChristineR replied to varg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the same even though my NUT didn't recommend it LOL I was at the 9 week mark (10 week with preop) and I kept bouncing between these 2 pounds. It's finally coming off and I've lost those 2 and another 2. It took two weeks though. The stall happened as soon as I bumped up my cardio and started jogging. -
Im home...now what?
ChristineR replied to AutismMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah the lovely spirometer. I had to use that for about a week after and I could tell when it all cleared. As for liquids/protein, it was an all day thing and I felt like I sat around watching the clock. My goal was Water first and foremost. The Protein slowly added on. It took over 2 weeks to really get the protein I needed. Just be patient and it will come. Sip, take your time. It's a full time job! -
Feel like a failure :(
ChristineR replied to JessicaAnn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a ten day diet but didn't start the clear liquids until 24 hours prior. It is emotionally gut wrenching watching others eat when you can't enjoy it. But it does get better! There is a light at the end of the tunnel! It will all be worth it! -
I have to take my vitamins five times a day. It's oh so fun. Didn't know there were other options!

You will. Try to do small walks around your yard/house. -

3 shakes and clear liquids for 2 weeks preop? Yowzers that's a long time. Get as creative as you can. Any rules about making your own? I make a high protein shake that is 6 oz skim or 1% milk, 1 tsp peanut butter, 1/4 banana (frozen if you can), and 1/4 cup ice cubes. It's the most filling of all of them for me. -
I was exhausted for a long time. By week six you will probably feel more like yourself again.

Ever been called fat by a kid?
ChristineR replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are referring to small children whereas a good portion of these stories are to older children. I understand what you are saying, though, I just don't see it possible because, aside from a few countries, it's not viewed as a good thing. Found this article and thought it was really interesting: http://www.toptenz.net/top-10-countries-celebrating-female-obesity.php (Offtopic) Although this topic is about kids offending adults it does go beyond that. If you have older (not these little ones with no filter yet) children having no issues being bullies to adults then imagine how they are with their peers. I have to say, nothing prepares you for the punch in the stomach when your kid comes home crying because they have been called fat or ugly or any slew of things. It doesn't matter what age it was done it makes you angry and sad as a parent. I want to keep my kids locked away in a huge love bubble but I can't. They have to experience the ugliness (and happiness) of the world and all I can do is try to guide them through their experiences and hope they come out unscathed on the other end. -
Talk me OFF my eating ledge! Help? :-)
ChristineR replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's for the safety of your new stomach. I know it sucks but this phase will pass very soon! -
Can you make your own? I use the 100% whey protein powder (EAS or Designer Whey, etc) and often just make my own.

Not a happy little tummy :(
ChristineR replied to ladylaura's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure what medications you are taking but you don't want to take a calcium with a multivitamin. I have to take my meds 5 times a day all broken up. -
64 oz a day of calorie free, non carbonated drink is what I was told. I think it's the usual 8 cups a day whether we had surgery or not.
