mini.mee replied to newgrandmother's topic in Food and Nutrition
I made the protein balls, the recipe that was posted on the first page. I used plain protein powder and added a tablespoon of cocoa and used quick oats instead of traditional. They are really yummy eaten straight out of the freezer. I do find they stick to my dentures really Badly by OmG are they good and really great of you have a sweet craving!! -

Chilke protein shakes
mini.mee replied to jennaleigh1992's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
There would be no reason why you couldnt, I used to use a little less water if I blended with ice, just make sure you drink the whole thing. I have my shakes with low fat milk now for the extra protein content and still use ice. I cannot stomach a shake unless its freezing cold, just won't go down at all -
Increased water+protein= 11pound this week!
mini.mee replied to TamaraS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, 3.5 liters of Water is a whole lot! I am going to do my absolute best to get that in, how on earth tho do you stick to 800-1000 cals and get in the 120g Protein. I need help with that I think. By the way, I am Jen and a slow loser :-( 11kg in 10 weeks, I could cry sometimes -

Hi Kazza, Good luck for 5th, let us know how things go. Pay no mind to what those people say. Obviously they have no idea what they are commenting on. Having a sleeve is not easy, I'm only 9 weeks out but am very happy with my decision, like everyone else here :-) You have to work at it, and with it, for the rest of your life. You will have bad days and really great days, nothing changes in the real world except for the fact that you will be losing weight and keeping it off and doing so many things you never thought you would, and as you see and feel changes, your little world will change for the better. Stay positive and be happy in yourself. XXX PS I really recommend using a tracking program like my fitness pal to help you keep track of what you're doing too, I use mine every day

Choc Chia Well aren't those little seeds weird?! I can say I will definitely keep making the pudding, the amount tho that was made will prolly last me the best part of a week. The chocolate taste smoothed out and it's really pleasant, reminds me of those yo go Desserts in texture and flavor, but nicer. I am going to try just a plain one next time with a little vanilla, like one of the other girls suggested, it would be nice to have with a little fruit. LOL, it was strange tho to look at the spoon after I had it in my mouth, a couple of seeds still on there, looked like frogs eggs. Am sure my boys will love the ribs, my hubby helped me prepare the rub and i could see a speck of drool in the corner of his mouth, left out the chili tho as hubby is a big girl and doesn't like any kinda hot.

Choc Chia pudding And Ribs Spice Rub Right! Just to let you know, I made the pudding this arvo so can wait to try it, I did taste the almond milk with everything in it before I put the chia seeds in it and it was so chocolately, I may have to adjust it to my taste. I used agave nectar instead of the maple syrup too. Was as woolies, and seen a pack of beef ribs and remembered Deans recipe for the rub, well needless to say my boys are havin Deans Famous Ribs tomorrow night. Wish I could have some but no beef for me yet…patience :-)

Sorry Sarah, I don't think I would be much help, I am pretty new and a slow type loser. All I can suggest is try not to let it get you down, but I know how I would feel. Have you done measurements? That's the way I cheer myself up, I don't lose much on the scales but am losing lots of cm's
-
Oops forgot to add, I used to put a scoop of unflavoured protein powder in it too Good luck for Thursday, keep us updated, it's a breeze, believe me!!

I did, I made pea and ham, chicken and veg and apple Peanut Butter. All puréed of course. I was sleeved 27November and still have some left in freezer. Bought some cheap ice trays from the $2 shop and froze them like that, then put them in zip lock bags. When I could handle something thicker, I bought baby rice Cereal and mixed in with it. Nothing like homemade soup, beats store bought hands down

So, wot was the pudding like??

Losing Slow At Very Beginning?
mini.mee replied to LoserMama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do body measurements, I've only lost 11kg in two months but I've lost 12cm from my hips!!! I'm not discouraged anymore :-)))))) -
Right! So looks like there is a "pot luck" at Deans tonight, he is providing dessert, what are we all gonna bring then?! LOL

To KristiP, Chemist Warehouse has Iso whey on special at moment. It is actually yummy in my opinion and I have no problem drinking it at all. I have tried eight or nine other whey powders and hated them all except Whey Less, it's sister product and only liked the chocolate flavour in that one. I bought the Iso Whey banana smoothie flavour and liked it so much went back to the chemist and bought another. Good Price Pharmacy has it on special until today for $35, usually $53, and Chemist Warehouse also for same price with deal running until next week. I really recommend you trying it. As you probably know some people's tastes change after surgery, mine did and I can't stand some stuff I used to like. This stuff isn't really sweet and definitely not sickly at all and I am pretty sure the specs you considered regarding the protein/carb etc will be suitable

Protein Powders Drinks etc Aussies only
mini.mee replied to mini.mee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok today I ran out of my whey less chocolate completely, bought some Iso-Whey Complete banana smoothie flavour and tried it. It is the best I have tasted so far, and I've tried a few!. I liked it so much, I went back to the chemist and bought another! If anyone wants to try it, it's on special at Good Price Pharmacy until tomorrow for $35/tub. Usual price is $53, that's a huge saving. Terry White are charging $65/tub for it WTF!! ISo whey has a tiny bit less protein content compared to some sports whey powders (maybe 1 to 2 gram less but when mixed with lite milk it's 22-25 g/protein/serve) but its certainly an absolute dream to get down and id much rather have something I don't have to gag on as it hits my throat. It's not sweet and sickly either that's why I like it and the whey less which is made by same company. -
Thank you, I hope to get some more replies on this before I go back to the GP Tuesday. I really don't want something like this to hinder my weight loss

Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone is/has been on a medication called Sandomigran? It's a migraine preventer or something like that. Anyway, I seem my GP for the first time since a month or so before my op and she advised me that the medication will most likely make it very difficult to shift weight. I have to go back to see her next week and was thinking of asking her to change my medication to another sort like a Beta Blocker which is another way of treating things. Has anyone had problems with losing weight while on it and if so what did you do about it? Thanks so much

Um, can I get that on tape please?

mini.mee replied to mini.mee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks Dean, Just had a look, which one in particular do you use and what flavour/s? -
Didn't have to remove either tongue nor nipple. Nipple piercing was just taped up to cover the metal. Has been the same through all my four surgeries over the years. :-)

Quite possibly, according to the lack of response, we have no decent protein powders here in Australia. I knew it! -
