  1. My sleeve was 12/28, I had a surgeon who does a single incision approach and my BMI and body type allowed it. A weird complication I did not expect was migraine triggers . Which for me is lying around too much, post stress headache, low sugar, low fluids. Soooo perfect storm, I got imitrex injection in hospital, but it returned and I suffered through one night until I could get melt in your mouth med called in. Just something I had not planned on. The other thing is severe aversion to sweetness, so here the clear liquid Protein supplement has been impossible. Isopure, and a couple others all resulted in terrible nausea, and after vomiting day 2 I said forget it. My weight was 265 when I decided to proceed with surgical option . BMI 42, morbid obesity, which surprised people I know, guess being tall helped to hide some of it. The funny thing is that on a day when I felt good , thought I looked good, I would see a photo and say " wow, awful" . Course that's when I allowed a picture to be taken. After a liver diet for 2-3 weeks, minus Christmas dinner ( mostly meat), I lost 17lb. I weighed to day and I am 242 on Clear liquids. Today is the first day I don't feel like a sick person. No pain meds, drinking more liquids, learning about my stomach. I am looking forward to full liquids, and today I actually felt some hunger. I will enjoy scrambled eggs and cottage cheese in 2 weeks, that's what I thought today. I have read some blogs where people have had no nausea, are getting in all,the fluids , and Proteins in that first week. I am happy for them for sure, but oddly these minor issues I am having is teaching me more about me new stomach, and i appreciate that it's not all roses. As an NP I counsel pt on lifestyle changes all the time, I eat whole foods, am active, and have some advanced knowledge of nutrition. What I can't control well is the metabolic dysfunction associated with my obesity, and the losing battle over my 45 yrs. I am excited now to put into practice my knowledge and have this tool as leverage to beat obesity metabolic dysfunction .
  2. I am 4 days out and learning about my stomach and what full is . I can only take 2 oz right now takes me about 10-12 min to drink it. I was sleepy tonight took my 3oz Dixie cup put some Water in it, an drank it down, I then said "oh crap". Had sharp pain, big burp, and 2-3 hiccups. The rest of the day I am more mindful and it took me 1hr to drink 6 oz of decaf coffee, an dit felt fine
  3. I think it is important to remember that the protein shake preop diet is also required to get the fat out of your liver, shrink the size down so that there is more room for the surgeon. My surgeon requires all his patients to go on this "liver diet", for 2 weeks at least using high quality bariatric meal supplement shake. He know you will lose weight on it, as long as scale is down not up he is happy. I was never given a # of lbs I had to lose, he was really pleased with 17 lb loss prior to surgery.
  4. My surgery was12/28, I had SILS and am blessed. So here at day 4 I am not getting enough fluids, but close. Definitely not getting 60gm of Protein. The supplements that I purchased make me so nauseated. I never had sweet tooth, now I can't take any of the favors. I vomited on day 2 after trying protein Jello, talk about scary. I did tolerate a nectar, coconut flavor, but barely. So I am going to keep on my broths, organic chicken was best, my fluids and just have to work on protein in week 2. Vomiting was scary and I don't want to do it again. So I do have a few bottles of Isopure if anybody needs them. I know that many people don't mind the flavor, you can message me or email me . So I have experienced hyper taste changes, and sensitivity to smells. Looking forward to full liquids in a few days
  5. I just had mu surgery 12/28, losy 17 lbs on protein shakes. It was prescribed as liver diet, to shrink the liver. It allowed my surgeon to do a single incision approach. He stated my liver was small an dthere was plenty of room. It is important that you use bariatric approved shake, low low sugar, high protein, and vitamin enhanced, a meal replacement. If you drink other shakes you may not truly shrink liver, and you could gain weight if calories too high. I appreciated the shakes as it helped me set up some behaviors also
