You might try to up your Protein intake to 80 or 90 grams to break your stall. You might have gained two pounds of muscle and not fat.Up one or two pounds,I would not worry about that, sometimes this happens to me.It might be from too much sodium intake and that is causing you to retain Water, just keep moving forward and the weight will come off.

Not being able to eat meat...
fp9107 replied to thebearishere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had this feeling before and it was after I had eaten too much. I did not try meats until almost a month out. You might want to hold off a week or so on the meats. I am almost four months out and I still can not eat pork chops, the meat is just too dense for my stomach. -
What protein bars does everyone like?

This will be my first trip to an amusement park since my surgery in February. Does anyone have any tips on eating at Disney or eating at amusement parks in general? I am a little anxious about riding the rides. The last time I was there the lap bar would not close on one of the roller coasters because of my belly was getting in the way and I felt like my son was going to fall out and I had to put my arm over him so that I felt he would be safe. Wish me luck.

I would stay away from the ice cream and use ice blended in a blender and maybe use skim milk instead of almond milk because almond milk has very little to no protein at all and after your surgery protein will be the key to you losing weight.

Still sore from the IV

Lab techs are all the same, they never listen when I tell who ever it is you will not find a vein take the blood from the top of my hand and we can go on about our business. Do they ever listen? Absolutely not and I go through this same routine every single time I have to give blood. -

From my standpoint I would say yes!! Even after you have surgery some people still do not understand the process that you have to do to eat. I have a producer that I work with and she has a really high metabolism and does not see why I carry a big bag of Protein powders and Snacks that will not blow my calories for the day. Can you just not eat like a normal person? NO I CAN NOT!! -

When will I learn how to eat?
fp9107 replied to vegasneon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might try a baby spoon and see if that helps with the portion size. You will get full really quickly after you are first sleeved and some foods you can eat a lot of and will never get that full feeling, mine is cheese puffs so I just avoid then. -

Do not be so hard on yourself. It is a process that takes time to figure out. I am 3 1/2 months out and about a month ago I stopped at McDonald's and got a milk shake by the time I got home it all came back up and I finally figured out that I am lactose intolerant to full fat milk. So it is definitely a learning process. Hang in there you can make it through this. -

Some people will never get how we feel until they have been in our shoes. Some people are just stupid and sometimes even with educating them you just can not fix stupid! -
First Time Dining Out Postop
fp9107 replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always ask for a bread plate to put my food on and that helps me with my portion size, instead of using the huge plates that the restaurant brings your food on. -
It takes some time to figure out your new stomach. When I was first sleeved any food that I put in it caused the most awful sounds, but that did subside in time. I am 3 and half months out now and when I am am almost full my stomach makes this huge burp sound and if I continue to eat I get the hiccups and my nose will start to run. You just have to figure out your stomachs signs and that will only come from trial and error and time. Good luck.

10days Post op... Soft foods
fp9107 replied to AddryW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some of my go to foods at this stage was mashed potatoes from kfc and baked beans from a local bar-b-q place. It sure helped get me onto solid foods. -

If you're not the gym type, what to do for exercise?
fp9107 replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife likes to zumba at a church with some of her friends they stay in the back most of time. You might look at getting an eliptical it works both upper body and lower body. Weights are a really good as well they actually burn more calories than cardio. Another resource that i have used is the biggest loser dvd's, you can tailor the dvd to how long you want to work out, the squats are a killer though. A bicycle is really good as well. -
What OTC acid reducer did you take 3 days post op?

Gas x strips they worked wonders. -
I did not have the lap band, but I was scheduled for a 10:30 am procedure and there was one person in front of me who was doing a revision to the sleeve at 8:30 am. At 1:30pm I am still waiting to see my surgeon and he finally shows up at 2pm and I asked him what was taking so long and he said the lady in front of me had two hernias wrapped around her lap band and there was complications from the hernias. So advise her about the risks and let her make the decision on her own. Let her do the research.
