  1. I did Feb 2013. I have lost 70 lbs. My surgery went smooth, post op I had some bleeding (internally) it stopped on its own. Pain was not a problem. Very good care by the staff and Dr Hector Perez Corzo. He always got right back to me when I had questions. What better place to heal than Cancun! The resort is wonderful.
  2. When we lose enough protein in our diet to lose our hair it takes 3-4 months for us to lose hair. So the hair you are losing now (myself included) is probably from around the time of our surgery. Keep doing what you are doing and be mindful it will take a few months to notice the diffence.

    single parents?

I am 4wks post-op and doing great. Down 27lbs, have dropped a size in my work scrubs!!! That feels great! I am tolerating everything I eat, my main problem is eating slow. My surgery was not covered by my insurance so I pd out of pocket and had it done in Cancun.

    single parents?

I too am a single mom of 3 teenage daughters, I was sleeved 2/22/13 in Mexico. The choice to have the surgery was a risk I was willling to take to a healthier lifestyle, my family is very supportive. I asked myself how long will I live if I don't have something done? I chose sleeve over bypass because I did not like the idea of re-attaching my GI tract. As a nurse I know that can cause problems down the road.

    Adult or child size silverware

I use baby spoon and small fork as well, being a nurse I am used to eating on the run. This helps me eat more slowly

    down 70lbs

    Beautiful!!!!
  7. I was sleeved 2/22/13 and down 27lbs! Pain hasn't been an issue, did take me a few weeks to get my energy back. Eating and tolerating almost everything I have tried. Hard for me to remember to eat SLOW! Being a nurse I am used to eating on the run... I have found I do better with 4 small meals than 3, I was wanting to snack in the evening.

Dr Perez in Cancun with R4AC

Yay for you!!!! I am 4wks post-op and down 27 lbs. Feels so good to put on my clothes and have them be loose!!!! I too went through Alma, everyone is so warm and friendly. Advice for you... take your own pillows if you are picky. Follow the pre-op diet its very important to help shrink a fatty liver. Are you taking someone with you? Keep us posted!

Dr Perez in Cancun with R4AC

I am 3 days post op being sleeved by Dr Perez, I am feeling great (all things considered). Spent some time at the beach yesterday, today I plan to do a lil walking around outside the resort to have a look. I wanted to spend a lil more time in Cancun so tomorrow we are going to the island of Isla Mujeres for 3 nights. I brought my mother with me, also a Dr that I work with got sleeved the same day right after me. She as well has done fabulous! Will keep ya posted!

Dr Perez in Cancun with R4AC

    Good luck, keep me posted!!
  14. Actually I am still up in the air and researching... thinking about Cancun instead. Will keep you posted.
  15. After seeing the posts about Cancun and Dr Perez I am now considering going there rather than Tijuana. How much follow up have you needed with your surgeon? Did Dr Perez give education for post-op diet?
  16. I had a pt a little over a yr ago that had gastric sleeve done at hospital in Iowa, the first time she ate real food (mashed potatoes) she perforated her surgical site. After about a month in the hospital she was sent home. I seen her recently and we were talking about her complication. I told her I was looking into surgery in MX and she wished me luck. Even after all the complications she had she did not regret having the gastric sleeve. The surgeon she went to I would not go to as I have known another pt that recently had a revision, approx 2 wks later he died of a PE (blood clot in his lungs). He had a family history of blood clots. Both cases may not be the fault of the surgeon. I know that with any surgery there is a chance for complications, that being said I feel we are all willing to take our chances at a healthier life...
  17. I am scheduled for surgery Feb 21, have almost cancelled it twice as being a nurse I have seen the worst of the worst done in the US. I have not seen any negative posts about Dr C & Dr V. A concern of mine is how long have they been doing bariatric surgeries? Does anyone know?? So far Regene has been very prompt and helpful.
