    Constipation

I am 9 weeks out today. Saw my doctor, exercise consultant and nutritionist this morning. Bread and limited crackers are approved, as tolerated. I have had no issues at all. I would NEVER suggest anyone go against their nutritionists guidelines. I have noticed there is quite a wide range of opinions on all things " sleeve".

    50 lbs. :-)

Today I hit the 50 lb. mark, having had surgery on December 12th. Almost every day someone will say something nice about my weight loss. Today a friend started to say, " you look really..." And before she could finish I blurted out " I've lost 50 lbs!" We laughed about how much I sounded like one of the first graders I teach but I was just so excited that I couldn't wait to share. Started at 282 and weighed 232 today. For the first time EVER, the scale feels like my friend.

    Constipation

I found wheat thins Fiber Selects and eat a piece of whole grain bread every other day and that amount of fiber in my diet has me very regular. Once you get going you might try adding similar foods. Plus, I love the crunch of the crackers...I kind of miss that. 5 crackers are enough to satisfy.
  4. I was sleeved December12 and have had an identical experience. Following the guidelines, getting my water and protein in, making good food choices, 700 calories and have lost and gained the same pound on alternating days for a week. Have lost 40 lbs. and feel so darn good that I've only once thought about throwing the scale through the window. Think putting it in the garage sounds like a good coping strategy...

Do you drink with your food?

Someone said they put a shot glass of water next to their plate because it made them feel more secure that if they felt "stuck" they could take a small sip...although they rarely/ never did. Might help if you're worried....I agree don't do it but having an emergency sip close by might put you at ease until it has become a comfortable habit.

VSG and Hernia Surgery - anyone?

My doctor discovered a hiatal hernia and repaired it during surgery. Gave me six pictures of my new stomach and repaired hernia taken during the surgery. Gross and fascinating at the same time! Anyone else get pictures?
  7. I had my surgery (sleeve) done on December 12th and I feel fantastic! 3 weeks today and I am amazed at how "normal" I feel. Energy, food choices, digestion, liquids...all so much better the last few days. Going back to work tomorrow as a first grade teacher. That will be a major test of my stamina but I look forward to getting back into life's routines. I know that's the next step. I have lost 35 pounds and two sizes. Thrilled with that, as well. To those worried about the surgery...do what your Doc tells you to do to prepare! Pray, meditate, do whatever brings you peace. Then move ahead. Positive energy will help with challenges and recovery!
