January 2013 Sleevers?
2013newme replied to LenaVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went into my sleeve with a cold... they told me I could take zyrtec the nights leading up to the surgery... ultimately, it was up to the radiologist if he would do it or not - and he did... cold and all... so I would just go in as scheduled and see if they will still do it.... -
Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous
2013newme replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ahhhhhh shower!!! I feel sooooo much better now. I had to wait to take my last tubes out - which I did at midnight because they were leaking so bad! I feel great today - day 4 post-op! I am a little sore and wasn't able to get all my Protein in yesterday... but making a huge effort to get it all in today! My kidneys are sore - anyone else experiencing that? I don't know if it's because of lying on my back so much or because I haven't gone number 2 yet (I'm not constipated that I know of)....I will walk even more today to see if I can get the kinks out - and I walked alot yesterday!!! Glad to hear the 8th sleevers are doing so well!!! Let's get this done!! :-)!!!! -
I just was sleeved on Jan 8th, came home on Jan 10th, and started my full liquids today. I just wanted those that are new to this sight to understand that it is not as bad as what you may read on here..... I was reading reading reading on this site before my surgery, and I actually started to get very "worked up" and had to walk away the night before, as I was getting very nervous! I got to my room after surgery around 11am, and by 1:00, I was up and walking - yes, I was groggy, but because I still had the morphine, I wasn't in pain... BUT.. I quickly figured out that the morphine was making me nauseated, so I switched to hydrocodone ... tasted bad, but much better on my tummy! I have been able to control my pain - actually I have been making sure I stay ahead of it by taking the pain meds every 4 hours, along with the nausea pill. The worst part for me yesterday was the hearburn - I have NEVER had acid reflux before, and all of a sudden, I know what it feels like - yikes... the docs told me this is normal and my new tummy is just getting used to having something in it (water). So... what is the key???? WALK WALK WALK... sip sip sip... yep, just what they say to do... I am following it religiously.... it even takes me 15 minutes to sip down my pain meds - but if I go any faster, I feel nauseated!! I am home now, and walking laps around my house, sipping slowly, and taking naps! I feel good and in a good mood! I just wanted the newbies to know... It's all good!!!.... as long as you do exactly what you are told.... and then some (walking that is)!!!

Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous

I was sleeved on the 8th... came home on the 10th... today is my first day of full liquids and I am finding myself "full" - so it is taking me like an hour and a half to finish one cup. I have been very lucky - no pain really - just nausea, but I haven't thrown up at all. I am doing my walking and have had no gas pain. I went home with my OnQ... will take that out tonight or tomorrow - not looking forward to doing that by myself - that is probably when I throw up... just seeing that - gross! I am just pleased at how I feel - much much better than I thought it would be!! -
Hi ATL sleevers! I'm Roswell!!! I'm having surgery tomorrow through Emory - they have a support group that meets once a month that I was planning on attending - but I would like something closer! I liked the idea that one person had about having a get together... we are all in this together - so we should "get" together :-)!!!

I have a cold too going into tomorrow - I just called my doc to see if I could take Zyrtec tonight - got the thumbs up - so that will help me sleep also :-)! I am scared to go in with the cold - I almost always get bronchitis this time of year - that would really suck if I get that with staples!!! -

I am being sleeved on the 8th too!! My weight as of today is 249 - so very close to your weight! My doc wants me at 130 - I will be happy to be 150 again!! Tomorrow I will be on clear only liquids all day until midnight, when I stop everything to prepare for surgery! So today, I am enjoying the full-liquid diet - including tomato Soup for dinner... it's the little things really :-)! Good luck with your surgery - I look forward to seeing your progress and hearing how things go with you! -
Hey determinedgirl - I'm in your neck of the woods!! I am getting sleeved with Dr. Steven Davis at Emory on Tuesday! Do you have a local support group - or is it through your doc? My support group is through Emory - but I am not looking forward to driving to mid-town after work once a month... was hoping to find something closer! Keep me posted on your progress!!!

I'm in ATL area having surgery at Emory. What about you - where in GA? I'm glad to hear you are doing alright! keep me posted!

I can't wait to hear what people say about this... my "last meal" was sushi :-)... that is my "go to" food! How has your recovery been going? I'm a GA girl too - scheduled for Jan 8th!

The 8th is almost here! I am excited for all of us!! I am doing the "nervous / anxiety" type stuff right now - like cleaning my room, closet, bathroom (want it all to be comfortable for me when I get back from hospital). Organizing like crazy - reminds me of when I nested before my kids were born...lol - I guess this the new "birth" - just delivering a stomach instead of a baby...lol!!!! -

I am having my surgery with Dr. Davis on Jan 8th. My pre-op anesthesiologist appt. is today. I would love to hear more about how you guys are doing - so glad we are in this boat together and can share stories. I actually pushed my stuff through with Tracy - I know she was ready to be done with me :-). I have had a great experience so far with the whole team. -

Wow - I have just looked at all of your photos - this is so inspiring.... what is your "secret"? I have a couple of friends that have done this and have been as successful as you - their "secret" was to follow the doctor's orders EXACTLY.... just curious what you have been doing... I get sleeved Jan 15th and would love to follow your example! -
Find anything yet? I start my pre-op diet on Saturday!

I'm Jan 15th.... been eating like crazy over the holidays - and yes, falling into the "one last meal" trap! Tomorrow night I will have sushi "one more time", and Friday, I have Mexican "one more time". Saturday I start my pre-op liquid diet, and I have a mind-set that when I can eat regular foods again, I will eat alot smaller and healthier portions - but before.... whoa!!!!! I'm all in eating! I have a couple of friends that have been through this, and told me to follow the doctor's diet EXACTLY to be successful - so that is my plan - starting Saturday :-)! -
I am new to the site, though I have been watching posts by others for a couple of months! I find it encouraging to see others posting and working together when they have the same or similar surgery dates... it's like going through it with a partner! I am nervous, excited, scared, happy - a whole host of emotions! I am starting to get myself, house, family organized for my big day! There is so much planning that goes on - it's overwhelming! I begin my liquid diet - 1200 calories/day on Saturday... and need to hit the grocery store to stock up on all the post-op "foods". Let me know what you are doing to prepare for the big day - maybe we can share some tips with each other!
