  1. I dissolve a half scoop of the vanilla in milk and add it to my decaf coffee. It's an easy/tasty way to get in 10g a couple times a day.
  2. I had my surgery at Forest Park, and it was very nice! I ended up with a VIP room that included a separate suite with a TV and couch/bed so my family could stay occupied while I rested. I slept all night both nights unless they were taking vitals every 2-4 hrs. Nurses were decent- some more attentive than others.
  3. I have been worried about the same thing! I can finish a 1/2 liter bottle of water in 30 min to an hr (3 weeks out) with no issues. I asked about it at my follow up, and she keeps telling me that thin liquids go right through the sleeve. I was cleared for soft foods and tried some baked salmon. It took about 1-1.5 oz in tiny well chewed bites to fill me up in 30 min. I stopped immediately! Basically, I am just co-signing with everyone who says we will feel restriction when we start solids. Good luck!

About 2 wks, 3 days out? What are you eating?

I have lost 13 since surgery 2/7 on liquids. 23 since starting preop. I've been stalled for about a week. Fluids are going down easily... almost too easily if they're not too cold. I haven't actually eaten any food yet, but I'm kind of afraid I won't have the restrictions since liquids are going down so easily! I mostly do the Premier shakes which are pretty thin, so it takes about 45 min to finish 11 oz.

Sleeved 2/7. Still on full liquids until 2/28! Blended/cream soups, drinkable yogurt, shakes... yeah, that's about it. Very boring. I am so ready for soft foods. I've never wanted cottage cheese or tuna fish so bad!

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Hi guys! I promise every day it continues to improve. I was sleeved 2/7/2013 and am finally feeling almost normal again. I just reached my first goal- Onderland!!! And tomorrow is my BDay :-) so excited! HW: 236, consultation: 229, preop: 222, SD: 212. I will advise to watch your BM closely and talk to your doc if you're not having good BM regularly. I though I was all good, but my first trip to the gym went bad when it hit me like a ton of bricks! Sorry, TMI
  7. Hello, Onderland! Happy B Day to me! Excitement!

    Any good broth/soup base recipes?

I was traveling on my pre-op, so I had to find a way around the canned stuff. I went to panera and ordered chicken noodle soup, but I asked for the broth only. I then strained it, and let me tell you, I was in HEAVEN! You could probably run it through a cheese cloth to get the last bit of particles out post op.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Absolutely! They are your main source of satisfaction. I found that I needed about 20g of protein every 4-5 hours to manage hunger pre-op, and it worked pretty well. It also helps prevent muscle loss.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

I was on clear liquids for 7 days and only lost 6. It's way too early to start getting frustrated with your numbers :-) Be patient! Your body is going to do what it wants to- just stick with it.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

hi Guys, I had my surgery 2/7 and came home yesterday. I didn't exactly bounce back from surgery nicely, but as everyone says, it seems to get better each day. I gained about 8 lbs of fluid in the hospital. I think some of the swelling is going down, because I am getting liquids down pretty well. The area to the right of my navel is swollen/numb and the only pain I really have left is on the right side of my abdomen. I have been coughing up some mucus, and I'm thinking it's related to my chronic sinus issues (hopefully). Has this happened to anyone else? Tummy is rumbling like crazy, and it feels like it's all pressured up in there. I've found that a heating pad has helped me get some of the gas out. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I can have a good BM soon. Either way, I am feeling very blessed! I'm lucky to have a sleeve buddy who I met on here who is the same BMI, age, surgeon, and surgery date. She was right across the hall in the hospital, too!

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Yes, I understand! The Protein is curbing my hunger, but I feel like I'm missing something. My life has revolved around food for so long, now what?

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

I am on day 3 of 7 day clear liquids. Day one was tough while at a work conference with 5 buffets throughout the day! Torture! This site has been immensely helpful. Cytosport and premiere are lifesaving! Made some homemade chicken broth today which is kicking the canned broth's butt.
  15. I won't miss... Not being able to leave the house without compression garments to hold my rolls in. Avoiding social situations bc I would be left out when guys come to talk to/dance with all my beautiful friends. Avoiding dinner plans bc I want to secretly eat more but not show anyone. Going out of my way to buy candy and avoiding eye contact from people in the store due to guilt. Looking at all the nice clothes in my closet with tags where I squeezed into them in the dressing room, thinking, "I will fit these soon." Then looking like the Michelin Man when my weight goes up rather than down. Feeling like I'm too fat to live like I should at 25 y/o. Hearing, "you're not THAT big." Really? I don't need your opinion. LOL

    One Week Post Op!

Where did you get a copy of his post op diet? I would love to see something structured! My Dr. Has guidelines but it couldn't hurt to see more.

    Pre-op diet and business travel

Good for you! I feel your pain! Day one of my 7 day clear liquid preop diet starts tomorrow, and I am out of town for a work conference where they provide meals. I still don't know how to handle lunch yet! I will be gone for 4 of 7 days of my preop diet. Pray for me!

Hi everyone! I am scheduled for Feb 7th with Dr. Jayaseelan at Forrest Medical Park. I hope to meet some of you guys at support meetings and such! I am new to Dallas, so I do not know manny people yet. If you guys know of any groups, classes, meetings, therapists, or other valuable resources, I would love to know!
  22. Me too! Congrats to you as we'll! I still need to clarify exactly what I will be able to consume. I am trying to start making some cuts now such as caffeine and carbonation so that it will be easier later. Sweets will be the hardest thing for me to kick. I hope you're not as scared as I am! This whole thing is giving me anxiety already lol.
  23. Meeee! Getting Sleeved on Feb 7th!
