Oh how I remember 2 days post op... Memories...

It is normal and it gets better. Walking really does help. Even if you're only walking a few blocks, do it. It helps the gas pass.
    And smile.

I have not had my surgery yet, but I have had my gallbladder removed...they inflate you with gas then as well. I experienced gas pain mostly in my shoulder...very bad...but stretching and moving around really helps!! The pain meds didnt seem to help with the gas pain...not really sure why, but it went away within 3 days.

Ditto above very normal we all have been there just walk and take pain meds - you have a lot of air from them blowing up your stomach to the size of a watermelon during surgery now that gas needs to come out. Keep us posted and take care of yourself.

All normal! I thought day 2 and 3 were worst. Walk. Walk walk and try really hard to get your fluids. Keep us updated but a week from now you will think it is much easier.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've had abdominal surgery before. I can't believe you are home....please stay up on your pain meds. Take them scheduled even if you don't think you need it. Do you have any GasX strips? I've read that they can really help. And make yourself get out of bed and walk. Breathe...hang in there. Do you have a heating pad or hot water bottle for your tummy?

Perfectly normal! I felt the same way. Walk around your house as much as you can and the gas pains will get better. Drinking my liquids warm really helped me too. Hang in there!

If you have Hulu or Netflix (I can't remember which one it's on) there's a UK series called "Fat Doctor" - very interesting! I also watched all the seasons of "Ruby" on one of those as well. I'm obsessed with weight loss shows!

I went to the store today to see if I could find some new pants because my pre-surgery work pants are too big. I tried on one size smaller and they were too big! I am down 2 sizes!!! I couldn't believe it.
I was sleeved 1/23/13. Lost 13 lbs in the first 2 weeks then stalled for about a week and a half. I weighed this morning and was down 4 lbs total from last week. That's 17 lbs since surgery and 27 total. This week has been hard-my head hunger is yelling at me to eat a lot of crap but the shopping trip really helped me to refocus because this is working!

Hi Sleevers. I had surgery 6 weeks ago today, Jan 8. I thought I would do an update which might be helpful for those who haven't had surgery yet. I consider myself a "low BMI'er." My highest BMI was 36, and I had surgery at a 33. Even as a low BMI'er, I have experienced plenty of discrimination and unhappiness due to my obesity. I only reference the low BMI to put into perspective the rate of my weight loss. It might be slower than average, but I am thrilled. My hypertension has disappeared, and I've stopped taking my meds.
I've lost 36 lbs since I started the pre-op diet on Dec 26. Surgery was a breeze with the exception of a 48-hour period of nausea and gagging that did not begin until 18 hours after surgery. I've only had one vomiting "incident" and that was last week when I had a virus yet still made the decision to eat two of my grandmother's meatballs. (OMG they are so good...but not coming up). Other than that, this whole process has been relatively easy. I've had no moments of depression and only a few moments of "I want to stuff my face with food and what have I done to my body." Those few moments quickly passed and reminded me of my previous misuse of food. My first post-op period just ended and my PMS rage was a bit elevated lol.
I started working out today, and the only thing I have noticed is that exercise still makes my appetite spike. I am feeling very hungry right now. It started on the way home from the gym, and it's not head hunger. I guess some things don't change, but I can handle it.
How are all of the other early-January sleevers doing?

Have you spoken to your doctor or nutritionalist about this?
Are you logging your food intake?
    Are you trolling?

Chia seeds are truly helpful-- thanks to OTR for this recommendation! You can search "chia seeds" and there's tons of info on this forum.

Also remember that you're eating much less than normal. At this point you may even still be clear liquid only. My understanding is that it's not uncommon for things to er... slow down in that department simply because we're not really eating a lot.

I'm the same as delta girl. I'm not even two weeks out yet and today I walked 4 miles. On top of what she said make sure you're staying hydrated and meeting your Protein goals. I say go for it!

For the first two weeks after surgery I had a TON of energy. Just make sure to keep taking your Multivitamins and keep up with your B12s and Iron.< /p>

That makes me feel a little better, I am going to the grocery store today because I know I have been a little LAX about what I've been eating because I've been running low on some things and worried about what my husband will and won't eat too.
Time for me to get over it though, I think I'm going to go to biglots and pick up extra tupperware and pre-make some salads and have them ready in the fridge.

Undercover: I completely understand all of that. My boyfriend eats potato chips in front of me. He weighs 175 and is 6'1" so a far cry from my issues. I don't think it's in malice, they just have their habits too. We drew the short straws in our bodies ability to metabolize those high calorie foods. I "cheat" on occasion because I think I'll go crazy if I try to live like a monk. I just make sure the cheating isn't crazy choices. Or I'll have a bite to satisfy my desire. I've lost 50 pounds since surgery on Dec 3. It could be more I suppose but I'm still very pleased with my results. Just don't let the bastards and b*****s of the world get ya down is what I live by.
