Hi All, I had the band removed and the sleeve done on 12/28/12. I haven't had any complications - in fact recovery was better than the band. I was sleeping on my left side in two days. I could get out of bed without holding on to anything. The bandages (tape) are falling off the incision every couple of days. So when I say I am constipated I'm perplexed. I haven't had a bowel movement in three days (this is day three). I have had Fiber Choice (chewables), and CVS brand Fiber drink - and still nothing. To add to my 'lack of pleasure' when I eat - I am FULL in no time. A small 4oz cottage cheese isn't able to be finished. Today might be my day, my stomach is gurgling and I have a little gas. Anyone else having 'discharge' issues? Any ideas?

I gained five pounds of 'water' weight in my overnight stay after the operation. It will leave you in a few days - that IV is nothing but fluid, as you already know. Rest and sip, those are your orders for a few days. My recovery from the sleeve was a breeze compared to my recovery from the band. Sleep, sip, rest!

Congratulations! This is so exciting, I'm happy for you/us - it's a journey but I believe quite worth it in the long run.

How are you doing? Are you home yet?
-
Get your prescriptions (pain med) and get it/them filled before surgery.

Spoke to the nurse on Friday, asked if I could take pills - she told me, 'Yes'. I was sleeved 12/28/12 (3 weeks).

I had five grilled shrimp for dinner (central market) - I'm three weeks out! Chew, chew, chew.

Anyone using a Fitbit?
HopeFaith replied to Strangefruit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank You for starting this thread/topic. I just purchased a Fitbit on Amazon. I searched and found my two Weight Watchers pedometers this morning, both needed batteries, a trip to CVS for batteries, put them on and walked for three hours, got back home - null, nothing, nada recorded, and it took me forever to program them. Thanks to Fitbit I'm back in the 21st Century. -
I just called my doctor's office, the nurse informed me the treadmill would be fine but not more than 30 minutes for the first week. After that I could up it a little each time. Originally, they told me to wait six weeks but I am not losing - hit a stall. I told her I'm eating 800 calories or less a day and not losing, I need to exercise. In fact, taking my lunch break (I work at home) and getting on the treadmill now.

BTW, thanks for responding - I appreciate it. I plan to see my doctor again on February 15th, I will ask about constipation. However, if it happens again before then I'll call the Nurse after day one.

Actually, I have been relieved. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. The scale actually moved in the right direction too. I was going to try prunes next but they are so sweet (I might buy some just to keep on hand, old remedies are sometimes best).

I had surgery on 12/28/12, my doctor said canned tuna or canned chicken and baked fish was a-okay! -
5wks PO, and YES I regret
HopeFaith replied to happydaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best of Luck to you! I'm only 2-1/2 weeks out. I'm eating baked fish, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, I made spinach/chicken soup, and a variety of light Progresso soups. I drink water from the minute my feet hit the ground in the morning (always have though). I add protein to coffee, SF hot chocolate, plus i drink protein shakes. Sorry it's giving you a hard time, hang in there - keep posting - everyone here is GREAT tough love and all. Water and protein, plus vitamins - you'll be the better for it. Again, best of luck! -
Omg im so cold!
HopeFaith replied to dreamerfalava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please try doing the shakes, we need our protein like nobody's business. It has been two years since I've had a baked potato (I couldn't eat them with the band). It may have helped me beat the potato desire. What type of shakes have you tried? Since the sleeve the Whey Protein Shots have given me diarrhea; also Nectar shakes seem to be too 'rich/sweet' for me. I can tolerate Atkins but 10gm of protein isn't worth my time. I like Celebrate 'cake batter' and Bariatric Advantage's 'orange cream', 'chocolate', and 'strawberry'. Have you tried those? -

HopeFaith replied to dreamerfalava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing pretty good, feel good - and no desire to nap. I'm amazed at my energy (although my doctor told me caffeinated coffee was fine). I'm having baked fish for dinner. My only issue thus far, three days no bowel movement (but this too shall pass - no pun intended). -
Uncomfortablity in Abdomen?
HopeFaith replied to stephhine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 12/28/12, I returned to work on 01/08/13. I found it comfortable to lean back in my chair and stretch my arms to reach the mouse and keyboard. Before I knew it, I was not feeling anything. I also make a point to stand up - even if it is just to stand. Can you adjust your chair to lean back a little - are you able to reposition your monitor (make it higher?) -

I have always been the warm one, I kept my office really cool. I would need to meet with my employees in a separate conference room because everyone complained my office was too cold. I wore short sleeves year round. I had surgery on 12/28/12 - I can't get warm enough now. Heating throws while i watch TV and a heating blanket on my bed. In my office, I'm constantly drinking something warm - I'm freezing!!! -
Band removal and sleeve in one surgery or two?
HopeFaith replied to wordygirl74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was banded on 12/21/10, on 12/28/12 the band was removed and the sleeve done. No removal of fluid prior (finding the port was like 'Marco polo'). I'm two weeks out and getting better everyday. Good Luck! -
I used a heating throw blanket to sit under when I was 'relaxing'. I am two weeks post-op today. The sharp incision pain is interesting to say the least. I stopped the meds about five days out because I was going back to work on 01/08/13. I had a revision (band to sleeve) so I am blessed with the double whammy of the port being removed and the incision where the stomach was removed. It gets better, I'm much better than I was a week ago. Hang in there!

My doctor allows us to drink coffee, I went to see him one week post op. (My surgery was 12/28/12) He said he would never deny anyone their coffee. Since being told I can have it, I have had some but not the 16oz I use to have every morning.
